Last night I drank a whole glass of apple juice in about 20 min ... I don't seem to have a problem w the volume of liquids .. I find it very easy to drink ... I might have to learn to like wine! I hadn't eaten that much food (obviously) that day either. Before surgery if I'd eaten a decent sized dinner I couldn't get drunk - another reason I thought it would happen easier ...

Don worry they're already experts at the surgery - this is only slightly different way of doing it. Imagine the first people who tried it the laparoscopic way compared when they used to just slice your whole abdomen open! Haha they must of been freaking out too! Don't worry it will be fine ... Don't over think it - you are in good hands and have SO MUCH to look forward to after x

I'm alive!! So throughout the night I had about 8 shots of baileys & Midori (melon liquor) I was expecting to be way more effected then I was? I think it's a fairly soft alcohol ... So my cheap date idea didn't pan out hahaha .... I can't drink vodka & sprite (carbonation) I don't like beer & wine ... I'll see how I feel the next few days and try another kind of shot next time. You aren't supposed to drink because of stomach mucus still repairing itself (not sure what that does) ... So I'll just see how I feel the next few days before I venture out again - thanks for caring! x

I like that you started this post! I want to be real with this surgery. Not an alcoholic' date=' but I still want to enjoy life occasionally. 'Cause, heck, otherwise, why live it? Thank you for the question![/quote']
Haha yes what's the point in having all our confidence back if we can't go out and enjoy it! I might be singing a different tune tomorrow but I'm going to give it a go lol I'll let u know how it goes and what I had 8 )

I'm scheduled for September 10th in Tijuana with Dr. Valenzuela/Dr. Cabrera. I'm actually now thinking about switching to Dr. Carlos Diaz because of the single incision surgery that he performs. The idea of a single incision is VERY appealing to me for the quicker recovery time as well as the cosmetic aspect. Anyone here thinking about using Dr. Diaz? I've been looking for reviews but can't seem to find much about it.I just had the single incision w dr Garcia in May ... The scar is hardly noticeable! When I show people my photo of my stomach and the little scar I have from surgery, they are amazed !

Thank you to the OP for posting. I come to these boards to read about as many of peoples experiences with this surgery and on the surgical experience in Mexico in particular. That to me means all experiences. Being seen naked by other patients wasn't something I considered as a posibility. It's good to know that it is' date=' even if it is only a remote posibility. I've read nothing that had deterred my interest in having surgery in Mexico.I'm also a Canadian. Bariatric surgery is performed at my local hospital and is covered by my provincial plan. It wouldn't cost me anything to have the surgery and I would likely receive 6 weeks paid time off of work. My choice is still to go to MX. I believe the bariatric surgeons there perform significantly more gastric sleeve procedures. There also isn't the wait time in MX as there is in Canada. I'm comfortable that my decision is no less dangerous in MX than it would be in Canada.
For the Nurse that said she wouldn't consider surgery in Mexico... You have every right to not consider it. It is your personal opinion. However posting your opinion on a thread in this forum serves no benefit to the readers here. I've seen you post your opinion on another thread in the self-pay/mexico forum. I was puzzled because your opinion not to have surgery in Mexico isn't remotely relevant in a forum for people interested in surgery in Mexico.[/quote']
I saw that too and wondered what the point was?! Lol I'm Canadian but living in Nz ... I went to TJ may 11 w dr Garcia ... Best decision I ever made - you're a wise woman ... They are experts and you will be in good hands x

My surgeon allows alcohol 3 months post-surgery. I have had cocktails about 3 times since surgery (all on vacation) but always limited to one' date=' due to calories etc. The alcohol affected me the same as it did pre-surgery. I would go with your surgeon's recommendations.[/quote']My dr says 4-6 months! But thats not going to happen lol ... I'm not worried about the calorie intake really - I want a night out after being a hermit all year to save for the surgery, and now it's time to get out and have some fun! I will take it easy tonight and probably won't go out again for a while. I don't drink wine or beer ever so it's only when I go into town, just wondering people's experiences they've had 8 )

Lol I'm going to be an in demand date! Haha I tried a baileys shot as a test run tonight and felt fine. I thought that was a nice smooth drink to try first off .. I'm not going to get trashed - I'm not a big drinker. Just want to loosen up for a boogie on the dance floor - thanks guys for all the input! x

Haha I was born in Toronto but have lived in Nz for 20 years - where we don't tip! So don't quote me but: I tipped the bell boys 2 for heling w bags and would round up $2 on a short cab ride ... Got my hair done and tipped $4 ... When u eat out u leave %12 of the total bill for your meal etc .... When u change your money make sure u get lots of $1 & $2 dollar notes

Hands off ladies - he's mine! Hahaha hes such a sweety

I am a self confessed "princess" and was ready to organise an upgrade - but it wasn't needed. The room is actually lovely ... I hung out by the pool and it seemed to have sun all day ... Also a nice little Mall 5 min away. You'll have a great recovery there ... Also the bell boys are lovely, helpful & friendly

I traveled from auckland Nz to TJ to have surgery w dr Garcia in May - people thought I was bananas ... But now I'm sure they're all jealous lol I have an AMAZING experience ... These Dr's do so many per day and 6 days a week - they are experts at what they do - just show them this site - I kept emailing my dad all the good reviews I found ... Finally he said "ok, I'll get on the bus, cause there's no point standing in front of it"
I could NOT be happier I did it ... Good luck to you - remember u don't need to ask anyone's permission to do what u want x

I loved the whole team! So happy w my choice 8 )

My advice (I was there 3 weeks ago) drive to SD airport and park and have Samuel pick u up - TIJAUANA traffic / drivers are CRAZY!!! ... I was afraid to even be a passenger ... If your partner is afraid to fly - they'll be petrified to drive down there lol
Flying home after surgery

Haha I hate doing the flight home (was born in Toronto) but not being able to eat for 12 hours whilst smelling the lamb shanks was hard! The one time I fly prem econ and I couldn't enjoy the cuisine lol .. In Nz it would of been $17,000 and with the surgery in Mexico 6000 (single incision) plus stopping In LA for a few days either side of the surgery hotels & shopping I still saved about $6000! Plus the drs in Mexico do as many surgerys a in a week as a dr would here in a month or even more ... So I felt like I was in good hands
