  1. Thank you!! That's very thoughtful & helpful! I was worried people would think I wasn't taking it seriously if I hadn't watched a clip. I would much prefer diagrams!!! Thank you again !
  2. I do have another appointment closer to the time with him ... I'm booked in for July .. (I need to save up $17000) so I will be more thorough in the next meeting. I have seen their dietitian and going to see the psychologist in April. I'm only 30 BMI so they're not takin it lightly. If anything I'm worried after seeing the dietitian that he may back out as she thing she can help me loose 20kg. I've tried for 15 years and I'm an amature boxer and very active - so I'm doing all I can to get prepared for surgery to go ahead. It is my dream to not have food rule my life!
  3. Yes I was going to call my breast surgeon and run it by him. He is a top dr in nz and I blame my body for that happening lol ... I even had a reaction to the tape they put on the scars to flatten them. Ok I have to admit I did think there was a sort of "sleeve" they used to cover the side of stomach that was removed and it was attached w the staples. It makes me feel better there isn't. Now just worried about the staples. Ad I haven't gotten up the courage to watch any YouTube clips on the surgery. (I can't even watch surgery parts of grays anatomy) I will have to tuffin up I think ????
  4. I have only had those 2 breast surgeries and those stitche . I did ask him breifly in an email and he said no... But I'm still worried about the staples, maybe he just hasn't come across it before. I'm going to further investigate on here before I ask a thread question tho! Thank you
  5. Thank you moregoodtimes ... I asked a question yesterday and got a not so nice response and was starting to think I shouldn't be on here ... Or at least keep my mouth shut for a while. Lol I can't be pestering my dr with all my little questions so I asked on here. The way my dr explained it sounded to me like .. And we will also remove this (Ghrelin) while we are in here. I didn't know the logistics of it all. Thank you for your response ????
  6. Thank you webchickadee for such a detailed answer! That's answered that question in full ... Are you a dr yourself (because you sound so knowledgable) I have another weird question. I had a breast reduction 10 years ago and my body rejected the stitches leaving bad scaring, then an areola reduction last year and the same thing happened (i wont go into detail but there was puss and infection) Also my eyebrow ring and belly ring were also pushed out/ rejected when I was younger. I'm a little afraid my body may reject the sleeve - it doesn't seem to like foreign objects??
  7. Thanks kendra! This is what I'm looking forward to. My over eating is because I let myself get too hungry and want carbs to fill me up quick! When I don't have that hunger urgency I feel like ill eat much better & healthier choices to curb my appetite. I have seen that a few people said they still feel hunger like before the surgery only diff is they're filled up with small amounts. I wasnt aware of where the hormone was located and didn't know it was located in the part of the stomach that's removed. Maybe it was a dumb question but i thought this was a place i could find help. Thank you
  8. I think I do understand, I just hadn't seen anyone mention Ghrelin on here and wondered if everyone has it removed. My dr said that you won't feel hungry and may have to set timers to remind yourself to eat. I also understand that some people experiencing "hunger" it could all be just in their head. I'm not sure how my question came across inappropriately.
  9. Wow great!! was it by chance the Columbia Asia hospital? I've had that one recommended to me by someone. I am feelin fairly confident in having the surgery there now - I'd just panic if there were any complications. I'm not sure what the protocol would be. And again when I say holiday I mean - a different country, not looking after kids & way cheaper. I'm not going to trek through the hills of India and go nightclubbing. Since seeing marigold hotel I've wanted to go to india ...
  10. And I didn't mean "anyone who's been" asking for holiday ideas haha ... I meant surgery wise. I wouldn't leave the city I'd have it done in and do a big treak around. They recommend u stay there for 10 days ... I'd still be on a very limited diet at that point so I could just bring my supplies w me.... Decisions
  11. Yes it would be more comforting to be at home near family & my dr but $17,000 compared to $7000 is a big diff ... Still cheaper to go to india & pay to have a friend come w me for 10 days. But if there were complications that would be very tricky ..
  12. Sorry when u said "rebanding" I thought it meant it was so good you were having it tightened or something lol I got u now, that sounds horrible. Hopefully the sleeve works out better. And as for "the vet" I was only enlightening her as she seemed a little ignorant that people would go there for surgery. Being a "newbie" I felt a little attacked at my first posting on here. I'm booked in here in nz but for the same price I could see a new country and have a holiday! and I've heard good things about India but will be nice to speak to someone who's been - first hand. I heard Mexico is another option but soooo far from here 8 (
  13. Thank you Kristina! I only added this question a few hours ago so thanks for your useful & relevant reply ... (See above) so what part did u go to? Mumbai or Delhi? I decided on the sleeve over band as it sounded too easy to eat through lol. But sounds like you've had great results?
  14. Thank you for your advice. India is one of the fastest growing country's offering overseas surgerys by internationally trained doctors. A lot specialising in gastric surgery. It is a very real question. I was more looking for info from someone who's been and had it done there. Thanks tho
  15. Here in New Zealand it's $17,000 ... India is $7,000 ... I'm not large enough to be able to go public .... Although give me 5 years
  16. I've never been but its very "done" now as they have top facilities & drs ... Or so I've heard ... When were you there and which part? Thank you Ps .. I could of loaded twice somehow I'm new on here
