  1. Since I begin researching weight loss surgery, one of the number one thing's I have seen is post op caffeine, sugar, and carbs are a big no no. My question is why other than it's good weight loss technique. Carbs I can understand a lot of them, I'm told; I won't be able to handle any more. But is caffeine and sugar just for the diet, or is there an explanation regarding our new stomachs, for those as well?

    YMCA

I love to swim laps as well. I warm up with a 500 meter then I start timing myself so that I really get my heart rate up for awhile. Love it. I have several different sized weights at home so I use them while watching TV and not feel like I am being stared at. Maybe when I am smaller, I won't mind so much.

I am SO looking forward to this problem!!
  9. People seem to be loosing massive amounts of weight doing to pre-op liquid diets.
  10. Have you tried looking in the social groups? Also there is an area in the forum with topics for pretty much everywhere it seems.
  11. I just wanted to post the link, lol. Not the video!
  12. Well I've done my first dietitian and only Psych visit. My second dietitian visit is the day BEFORE my first visit with my surgeon. I called to make my appointment with him back in Jan, but he is so booked that I could not get in until March 20th!! So I got permission to do as much of the insurance pre-op stuff as I could, done in the meantime. The Dietitian was easy. Went in, got weighed then we talked about what was going to happen. I made a video blog about it but wasn't planning on making it public until next week. If you would like to see it I can go ahead and make it public now. The Phych was a little rougher but not hard. I talked about my decision, and she made sure I knew what I was getting in to. Then I was handed two books of questions I had to feel out. THAT video blog is public if you want to see it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vm3fe9R3gk
  13. Sounds exactly like jealousy to me. They will get used to the idea, then once all the weight is off and stays off; they will start thinking about doing it themselves.

    I made it

I'm hoping my doc does the leak test while I'm still under. How did yours go?
  15. I agree! Make sure the people you tell KNOW that you're not telling everyone. And a doc supervised, low carb, high protein diet is NOT a lie. Your just leaving out the most important tool! LOL
  16. You can!! You're almost there!!

    First day of work exhausting!

That's something I have thought a lot about. I'll probably have to get my doctor to give me a note to go on lite duty or something. I work full time in a deli and cafe. I have to bend, pull, lift 5-50lbs, and push for 9 hours. It's against health regulations to have food or drinks back there so I will only be aloud to drink something every two hours with a longer drag towards the end of my shift. Then there is the cafe, where you have to lean on your stomach to push half your body through a small window to get the food the customers want. Umm, will probably take pain meds before my shift starts when I get to that point.
  22. Unless you surgery is first thing in the morning, you should be fine. Keep us updated!
