  1. Cupcake you will love Sally at HF! Dr Carlin was an awesome doc and the rooms at HF are like hotel rooms, not hospital rooms! Tell Sally Bonnie says hi!
  2. Cupcake, where are u being sleeved?
  3. Happy 8 week Anniversary to the June 11 sleevers! I am certainly not losing like I thought I would; it's going down though, slowly but surely! How is everyone else doing?
  4. Does anyone know of a cream or something that will help tighten skin on our journey?

thoughts on pain and pain management

I used the T3 for about 4 days after I got out of the hospital and that was mainly at night. I would equate the feeling to more of a soreness, like you got punched in the stomach. The pain is really very tolerable. Good luck!
  6. OK, I was put on metformin a few months prior to surgery. No real diag, my doc just realized that another doc was going to look at me and decided that it would be good to make it look like he was doing something for me (I wish i was kidding about that). Needless to say, I am in the market for a new doc....Anyway, I went off a few weeks prior to surgery and I was still loosing. I hit a stall at 3 weeks post op. The scale would not move at all, not even an ounce. I got very frustrated and shared my food log and weight log with my NUT and she said it looked like I was doing everything right. she then ques me on the metformin. I told her i wasn't taking it. Based on my blood, including the one where they look at the 4 month history and I was pre-diabetic. So my NUT told me to go back on the Metformin. I went on it on Friday, and finally after a 2 weeks stall, I lost 2.5lbs. I am just a little concerned being on it post-surgery. Has anyone else had any dealings with this drug post-sugery?

    Full so fast

OK, so I have a question. When I start to eat something, something solid like chicken, I will get a few bites in, my digestive track is telling me to stop, but I get, what I can only describe as, HUNGER pains. Now, I am full, I am burping, my stomach is telling me to stop, but I feel hunger pains. They will go away about 15 minutes later, but I am sitting there with food in front of me, i have only had a few bites and my mind is telling me that I am super hungry because I have that empty feeling. Is that normal or am I nuts?

    Stalling helllllp

I am in the same boat! I talked to my NUT yesterday but she really wasn't any help. I have been the same weight, the EXACT same weight for over a week. I am keeping it to 700 calories, I am getting all my protein in, hell, I have 2 boxes of frickin paczki straight from Hamtramik (very yummy and very fattening donuts for those that don't know) behind me and I am not even looking in the boxes. I feel like I should be rewarded for my good behavior, LOL. I am only 5 weeks out and started the stall at 3 weeks, even gaining 1.2 lbs at one point in the last 2 weeks. How do you gain weight at 700 calories?! I am getting frustrated, but my husband and NUT tell me everything is fine. Not sure what else I can do...
  10. My hubby and I were sleeved, he is not a drinker, i am a social drinker. He said that in his last class with the NUT someone said that they took 1 sip of wine and had to be helped home. The NUT also said that you have a higher risk of addiction when you are sleeved. i told him it that the research I did said that was because people trade one addiction (food) for another and i really don't think that will be me! I just REALLY would like a nice margarita dammit, LOL. Any suggestions would be welcome....anyone know anyone that turned into an alcoholic after the sleeve??
  11. My husband was sleeved 2 weeks ago. I was done before him and had no issues at all. He says everytime he takes a sip of water or anything it hurts and he gets very nauseous. He is only getting about 150-200 calories a day. Has anyone else experienced that and if so please tell me it passes. He's just so tired of having an upset stomach.

2 weeks out and in pain

He went for his 2 week check up today. Doc was concerned that he wasn't drinking as much as he should, but didn't really seem interested in the upset stomach. That's for the info on the Gatorade, he will get some tomorrow! Love this blog, everyone is so helpful.
  13. I've been eating some different things. Had turkey and chicken AND pasta. I made protein enriched ronzoni penne with health smart prego and it's fantastic! Full after 2ozs of meat and 1/2 cup of the pasta...very strange to feel that full with so little!
  14. I have been adding 1/2 - 1 scoop of unflavored protein powder to my protein shakes. 1 scoop is 28 grams of protein!
  15. I went to group last week. I have my follow up with Carlin next Wednesday! I am a bit bummed, I've stayed the same for the past 3 days...getting frustrated! I started using the unflavored whey protein a few days ago to ensure that I am getting enough, but that is high in calories. That has put me from 500 to 700+ a day. I know I need the protein, but I think that put my loss to a stop. Oh well, I'll figure it out

    Are u big enough?

I have had that question a lot, I'm short and when I see pictures of me, I think what are u missing here, look at me?
  17. Carlin did mine on June 11...curious, how much have you lost in the last 2 month?
  18. Happy 2 week post op anniversary. I can't believe how easy things have been. I'm not losing as quickly as I thought I would, but I think that's better so it's not so recognizable when I return to work. I do still get hungry, but not that often and it's not that, 'omg I'm starving' sensation that used to happen. Also, if I don't have a shake near by water will take care of the hunger. I started adding unflavored whey protein to my shakes to boost my protein and now I'm getting 90+ grams a day! Hope everyone is doing well.

    June 11 surgery day

I still can't believe that I only have 15% of my stomach. I feel so normal, I guess I thought I would feel different after wards. I do still very hungry, but it's sated much quicker. Anyone else still in shock that it's done and over with. I really haven't had any problems thankfully. Did have 1 episode of drinking too much too fast that scared me a little, but other than that, I've been fine. I've only lost 9lbs since surgery, but 45 total between pre op and now.
  20. I find it very interesting that different docs give different diets. I wonder why u aren't allowed and shakes after the surgery?

    Side pain

I was sleeved on the 11th too. The only pain I have in my left shoulder is from gas. When I feel that, I breathe in shallow a few times and that helps me burp and that gets rid of the pain.
  22. Can I suggest a really yummy protein drink...Chike! I didn't think I would be successful because I hated all the protein drinks until I found it. It's very good and no after taste.

  24. Have u tried sf pudding or jello?
