    Are you COLD?

I'm in Michigan, was sleeved in June and this winter I have been sssoooo cold! I am also normally the hot one in the room, but not anymore! This is going to a brutal winter!
  2. I was done June 11, I feel like I'm done losing weight and it's frustrating. I am mainly frustrated with myself. I am not eating right. I have been maintaining, which is good, but I have 40lbs to my goal and I haven't lost weight since August. I have lost a total of 75 since I started this journey...I'm in a 14 jean which is nice because I don't have to shop at lane Bryant anymore, lol. I keep telling myself I'll get serious again in January after the stress of the holidays....but how much more serious can u get than cutting out most of your stomach? I'm hoping I get back to it because I know now that I can eat like a normal person and maintain....I think I am like testing the sleeve or something...I hate my brain!
  3. Red Robin lets me get kids meals, so i get the chix with a side salad and make a little chix salad . I also order a side salad and ask for an a la carte chix strip from other restaurants. I have found them to be quite accommodating to me!

    Getting sleeved in 6 hours

Good luck, the first day sucks because of the gas pains, but walk and try to burp a lot and it goes away! Walk, walk, walk!
  6. Yeah, some days I eat 6 bites of my chix salad and feel like I am going to explode and days like today I feel like I can eat all day! I have tried to limit my portions, but then I too feel hungry. I hate knowing that I only have a little piece of my tummy left and it's empty, LOL. I just feel like I should be losing more and doing better after what I (we all) went through. I thought I would be down a lot more by now. Even 1 lb a week would be good! But like someone else said, compared to the portions I used to eat, this is much better! Just trying to see if others were experiencing the same thing as me!
  7. So I just ate a whole taco from taco bell. No lectures on the fact that I shouldn't be eating taco bell please! I am 3.5 months out of surgery, I have only lost 6 lbs in the last 7 weeks and I ate a taco! For the last few weeks i have noticed that I can eat a lot more than i thought i would be able to. I was reading how some people as far out as a year could still only eat a 1/2 cup of food. Last week I ate a chicken breast for lunch, it was thin, but still I ate the whole breast. I wasn't uncomfortable afterwards. Could I have stretched my stomach out this early?? Anyone else finding that they can consume more than they thought they would be able to this early in the game?
  8. I was gung ho from the time I made the decision. I didn't look back....until i was laying on the table in the operating room. then as quickly as I thought, 'what the hell are you doing' they put me under and i woke up about an hour later! That was 3 months ago tomorrow. I have had little to no complications to date. I feel better, more confident. I puke every now and again, but while you're a crier, I'm a puker, always have been. I started in the program in Feb and lost about 30 lbs prior to surgery. I am now down 70.6 lbs. I am not losing as fast as I thought I would, but I am also eating things I never thought I could. so while I am not losing that fast, I can have a little chocolate when I want it! I know 40 lbs in 3 months seems like a lot, but most of that was in the first month, I have only lost 6 lbs in the past 30 days, but I am ok with that. It will come off, it's not a marathon (I am talking myself into this if you can't tell). But seriously, you will have some gas pains, walking and burping will take care of those. You may throw up every now and again, but all in all this surgery is very worth it if you struggle with weight. Congrats on your decision!
  9. I have put this call out a few times and received some good info, but need more. My husband was sleeved 3 weeks after me. I am doing great, not the loss I expected, but health wise I feel awesome and have never had any ill effects, other than the occasional puking for eating to fast or eating the wrong thing. My husband on the other hand is not doing so well. He has never felt well since the surgery. He is VERY nausous with everything that he eats or drinks. It was suggested to stop drinking straight Water and that has helped somewhat, but he still gets sick regularly and gets an upset stomach with anything that he eats or drinks. I called the doc and they want to scope him. He won't let them touch him again, LOL. I have changed his acid reduced 2x (started with Omeprazole, went to Zantac and is now on Prilosec). The doc is giving him a new anti-nausea med today so we will try that, but thought if anyone else had this issue, perhaps they could give some good advise. I have survivors guilt at this point because our experiences have been SO different.
  10. I experienced dumping with my sleeve at about 1.5 weeks out. I added a tbsp of peanut butter to my protein shake. Thought i was dying, LOL! i explained what happened to my NUT and she said it was dumping and it was very unusual for a sleever to get that. In fact she said I was the only one she had ever heard of, but the symptoms were consistent. I have read several other people on this forum have experienced the same thing. The good news is that YES it goes away. As soon as your system is 'used' to food again it will go away. In fact, I have a few (I allow myself 6) M & Ms a day to get my chocolate fix and have suffered no ill effects! Now, I did try ice cream on vacation a few weeks ago, didn't get the full on dumping, but did have to immediately throw up!
  11. Cheri, thank you! I am so happy to have found this community to ask questions of, to rant to, to discuss topics that no one else understands. My husband was sleeved 3 weeks after me, so we do discuss a lot, but we are in the same boat with many questions. I am starting to eat a little more normally this week and I have lost a pound. Not sure if it's because I was due or because I am just eating without thinking too hard about it! I was sleeved 9 weeks ago and I can't believe how much this changes your life! I knew it would change, of course, but I can't believe how all my thought processes have changed.

    Holy carp!

    Congrats!
  13. Here is another question. As one other poster said, it's hard to get a lot of calories in when you get full so fast. At the beginning I was doing a lot of shakes to make my protein marks, but quite frankly I am tired of them so I only do 1 for breakfast with an extra scoop of unflavored protein in it. Now, i am eating more regular food so I am not getting calories or protein in. AND I am just not that interested in food anymore (never thought I would say that out loud) I am exercising 6x a week, cardio and weights, so now I think I am not eating enough calories because of the exercise. I am so confused as to what is right. My NUT has not returned my email, which is a whole other story. I asked my MIL who had bypass done about 17 years ago what she ate afterwards. Her words to me, we didn't bother with all the low cal stuff because we couldn't eat that much anyway so we just ate normally, just less of it. She lost 130lbs in about 9 months! i just wish I had the guy from Extreme Weight Loss living with me so he can tell me what I should eat and how much to work out.
  14. I have been one of those people who are not happy with loss. When I use the scale everyday, yes I know that is not the way to do it, and no I won't stop doing it, I get frustrated seeing the same weight or within the same whole number for a LONG time. I started a spreadsheet though and I am hoping that changes my brain about how to look at this. My first month after surgery I lost 20lbs, the next month only lost 9.2, BUT if I can lose between 9-10 lbs per month, I will reach my goal in about 6 months. Being heavy my whole life, losing tons only to gain back a ton and a half, I looked at this surgery as a way to get my life in order. It took me years to gain it, and while I can sit and complaint that it's not fair, I did have surgery after all, I should lose it quicker, at this point it is what it is and if I can get to my goal (which is a lot more loss than my docs goal for me) within 6-8 months, that will be awesome.

    Bathroom Help!

    2000 mgs of vitamin c!
  16. I am 8 weeks out and I am just not losing like I thought I would. I have stepped up the exercise, I am eating between 500-700 calories a day, I am almost hitting my Protein everyday, and the scale stays the same. Today it actually went up a lb.! The good thing is with only 15% of my stomach, I can't do something stupid like go stuff myself! I guess I am just getting frustrated after going through surgery and restricting what I eat that the 'payoff' is not what I thought it would be. Start weight in Feb - 255 Surgery weight June 11 - 219 Today - 191.4 Am I being crazy? Am I expecting too much from my 'tool'? My NUT said expect about 3-5 lbs per week. I called her at 5 weeks because I stopped losing at 3 weeks and she said that I can't expect 3-5 lbs per week because I would disappear. I have only lost 6 lbs in the last 20 days, that just doesn't seem right. Any suggestions wouldbe helpful. I am thinking of doing only liquids for a week, will that help or hinder? HELP!!!
  17. I was done on June 11 and want to see if where I am and what I am doing is right. They give u all kinds of info, but I'm still not sure if what I'm doing is right. Finding it real hard to get the protein and liquids in that I need. I'm doing about 12ozs of protein shakes a day and and 30ozs of water only. Plus doing some sf pudding with dry milk added in for calories. I'm tired and taking a few naps a day...am I just lazy or is that normal, lol. Where is everyone else?
  18. It's a small pill, I don't crush anything anymore, take all my pills normally now.
  19. navyma, i have been taking extra biotin for the hair loss and it slowed down a lot!
  20. I am doing strength and cardio. Walking/jogging 5-6x per week for anywhere from 1.5-1.75 miles. Then after cardio I do strength, I do different areas, legs one day, back one day, tris and bis one day.
  21. Teacher, I am totally a scale girl too! I have always weighed myself everyday. I can't help it, I am more addicted to that # than I am food! It helps me know where I am and if what I am doing is working. I am going to step up the calorie intake and I think I will be trying all liquid for a few days (starting tomorrow because they have a yummy chicken breast for lunch at work on Thursday's ) I also have my husband measure me every week and those numbers are going down, but the scale is important to me.
  22. Getting frustrated with slow loss! Tired the scale reading the same weight everyday. Not sure what to eat anymore:(

  23. Yes, please share your food diary! I am having trouble losing and am getting frustrated!
  24. It really depends on your insurance requirements. I started the program in February and was sleeved June 11.
