    Cruise?

I took one at six weeks out (had JUST been cleared for regular food) and it was incredibly obvious that I wasn't eating "normally" (I had to reassure the dining staff at every meal that the food was fine). At 3 weeks, there's no way you can keep it a secret. With preparation you can definitely do it and have a great time, but you have to accept that your family members will notice your eating habits and have some sort of explanation prepared (I recommend the truth, but YMMV).
  2. Splenda is sucralose.
  3. Sleeved 3/26, 11 weeks out today, 37 lbs down which means I'm a stubborn 1.3 lbs away from Onederland!! I know I'm losing at a slower pace than others but since my one long (3-4 weeks ish) stall I've been losing at a steady 2.5-3.5 lbs a week which I'll take any day
  4. Miserable is the short answer. I've only done it a few times (usually from eating too fast to recognize that I'm full in time) but it is an unpleasant twenty minutes or so while I'm waiting for everything to settle!!!

    Girls weekend in AC ;)

Depends on the surgeon. Mine didn't require a preop diet for me, but he would have for someone older or with a higher BMI. Other surgeons don't want to sort through who does or doesn't need one, so they just make it a blanket rule and if they get in there and your liver is too big they just sew you back up and thank you for your check!

    Holy crap......

Thirded!!! Come on ladies, why the hold out?
  7. It was close to a week for me and I was fine. Less in = less out. Most of us in the early stages go several days without a bowel movement.

    Beverages.

Mio. I have little bottles everywhere
  9. I'm looking at My Fitness Pal and noticing that my carbs are much higher than I would think. What I'm realizing is that I'm taking in around 100 cals and 20 FREAKING CARBS daily just in vitamins!! My Calcium chews (Celebrate bariatric) and chewable Multivitamins (Centrum) are killing me. I would love any suggestions-- do I have to take chewables (I swallow lots of other things in pill/capsule form, not sure if there's something magic about calcium or multivitamins) and if not, what are people taking that don't have all this sugar? Thanks!

I know we have people in our support group that were not sleeved at that facility, so I have no reason to think they won't. You'll probably have to call to be sure.

The best physicians around here are Dr. Broussard and Dr. Walton at WeightWise in Edmond. Their number is 405-359-2473. Hope that helps!

    nutritionist with bad advice

It's amazing how different plans can be... I'm actually not "allowed" to have protein shakes after 6 weeks (even though I'm a dirty cheater sometimes because I can't eat 30g worth of protein in a sitting!). Like all things, I'm sure the real answer is somewhere in the middle. Protein shakes are a good tool to effectively get in a lot of protein bang for calorie buck, but I also think that we're built to get our nutrients from food and should do so when possible.

    sleeve or bypass?

You should definitely talk to your surgeon about it. There's a tendency among people who have been successful with weight loss surgery to think their way is the only way but the truth is we all have our own struggles and this is a huge decision you should make with your surgeon taking all of YOUR individual habits and problems into consideration. Best of luck!
  17. Careful with the placement of that tat a month after surgery... Don't want the birdie to migrate!
  18. "The snip" is an odd addition to a bucket list most people aren't as enthusiastic!
  19. I was sleeved 3/26. Down 31 lbs since surgery, which isn't quite where I'd like to be but it's definitely better than I would have done without it!
