What foods do you no longer like?

Hamburger meat. I used to love a good hamburger, but now even at 4+ months out even a bite or two of a hamburger or anything made with ground hamburger makes me queasy. It's not the loss that I thought it would be though... When you don't like it, it's easy to just not have it!

    Goal weight/ dietician...

I started at 238.4, I'm not quite 4 months out, exercise practically never, and I'm already at 193.6 (feeling like a slow loser compared to most on here!). So that puts me at within a half pound of your starting weight and already less than 10 lbs to their goal weight in 4 months, and I am by no means super strict about diet or exercise! So I think they're being very conservative. 140 is my goal too and my surgeon expects me to hit it around 12-15 months.
  7. It was only true for me for about 3 weeks. At almost 4 months post op, I am hungry all the time :-(

It's an option in either MFP or fitbit that you should probably turn off that allows negative calorie adjustments. Basically, it's saying you walked less than expected today so you should eat 200 some odd fewer calories. I turn it off because I'm never good enough at keeping my fitbit on all the time that I trust it saying i didn't maintain a minimum activity level.
  9. According to whom, and how far out? My surgeon says his average is 80-90% of excess weight lost initially with a small rebound weight gain typical, but not up to 60%. Also, it's said on this board over and over again, but you decide where you fit on that. If you think the surgery is a magic bullet and you don't have to change anything except the amount you eat, you probably won't hit 100%. If you stick to plan 95% of the time and exercise regularly, you'll get a lot closer.

    Follow ups

My follow ups are 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 1 yr, 18 months, 2 yrs, and annually after that. IMO you're too early out to go that long between follow ups.

    Beware! woman traveling to TJ

From a comment on his page asking if it was true that Dr. Luna will no longer be part of his team: "Hello Jennifer, it is true. Dr. Luna has been suspended from my team due to the terrible situation that we have been having. Even though the patient that made this terrible scandal has retracted from what she posted the harm has been done to Dr. Luna and to ALL my team. I decided to have Dr. Luna on suspension although he is still to be calling patients and answering any questions or problems from previous patients. He will be working only answering questions over the phone. As far as visiting the patients to the hotel we have Dra. Velasco who will be going always with a Chaperon as it has been done that way ALWAYS!! From now on only female doctors will visit my patients at the hotel. My number one priority is my patients, that's why I made the decision to have my patients feel secure. I hope my patients understand that I've always made sure that I have the best to offer for their safety and for my teams reputation , that's why we are deeply concerned and sad for what has happened. My intention has always been to help people, and that is what I'll keep doing. Thank you for your concern and as you know, I'm always here to answer any questions. Dr. Fernando Garcia Govea." He makes it clear that Dr. Luna is just suspended, not terminated. This is likely what would have happened in the US, probably with an additional reprimand on the physician's license that shows up whenever someone searches him on the medical board website. However, what I don't like is that there is significant patient blame here ("the patient that made this terrible scandal"). Either Dr. Luna IS to blame (he acted unethically) in which case the suspension is appropriate or he isn't (it's the patient's fault for lying) in which case why would he be suspended? So I think there's still some shadiness going on

when did you have your steak again

About 6-8 weeks. I like tender, juicy cuts anyway and don't ruin my steaks with over-cooking so I think that helped with me being able to tolerate it so early
  13. Lying during your psych eval CANNOT help you. I'm a psychiatrist and I promise I can smell a liar a mile away. It will look much much worse if you lie. Not to mention, you're short-changing yourself from getting the words of wisdom you deserve to get based on who you really are, what your personality really is, and your true background. Psych visits are almost never a "clearance"; it's extremely rare for someone's surgery to be held up by that. Much more often it's just a frank discussion to make sure you know what you're in for. In the rare occasions that the psychologist/psychiatrist does suggest a delay while the patient works through some things, the patient was probably not going to be successful otherwise. Don't set yourself up for failure. Be honest.
  14. I completely agree. Some people just tell me I look great today, which I can gracefully accept as a compliment and know what they mean. As soon as they use the word "weight", it usually gets awkward for both of us. So I think unless we're BFF's, it's probably best to steer clear of talking about my weight, and other people have probably learned that by experience

    What is the 5:2 plan?

My understanding of this plan is that it's intended to be used in maintenance as well, which would make it a diet in the sense that it is the way you eat but not a "diet" in the sense of a temporary way to lose weight.

    Abdominal binder

My doctor didn't let me wear a binder, and while I hated him for it at the time, I think it was for the best. It forced me to heal faster, and I was pain-free by 3 weeks (though I hated those first few weeks!).
  17. I would not be sure of that without tracking. I don't eat bread or Pasta and still frequently struggle with keeping my carbs under 60. My Fitness Pal or a similar food tracker may help you to see where carbs are sneaking in.
