  1. I think that you are losing great! I found that when I added in some carbs that I shouldn't eat they stalled my weight loss' date=' so when I went back to mainly Protein with some fruit and veggies I started to lose again. I was sleeved 3/18/ 2013 and I have lost 77 lbs. total about 50 lbs. since surgery.[/quote']

Thanks for the reality check... I get focused on the posts from other people and I get upset that their progress is very drastic. I guess I just need to eat better-ER and work out more.

  2. Hi' date='

I had my surgery on march 19th too and I've been feeling the shoulder pain since the first day. The dr. told me that it is very common and that it is a "reflex" pain caused by the diafragm and gas.

Yesterday night I had the worst piercing pain in the shoulder til now, and it was just before my first bm, after that I felt fine.

What I want to tell you all is it seems that this symptom is very common, and hopefully it will be gone soon. Don't worry too much about it.

Talking about something else, is anybody here from Mexico?

All my best wishes for every new sleever here, everything is going to be just fine!!!!![/quote']

    I was born in Mexico.

  3. Katia...i'm also 3day postop and everything u wrote is exactly what im going thru. I feel a lot better today.using my heat pad and walking as much as I can. I had a sharp pain on my left side last night but I think it was either gas or my incision. I feel swollen still so i'm afraid to get on scale and see that I gained. May just wait until next week to weigh in. what r u eating? I drink Water and only half a popsicle a day!!!

I got on the scale once I got home. I had gained 10lbs but as of this morning I m down 8. I am having proteinblitz, I tried Isopure it was horrible. I am also taking chicken broth, Jello and warm tea. Warms things are awesome.

  4. 3 days post-op, I was able to actually rest last night, I feel slightly less sore. I am having some stabbing pain on the right side of my chest. I hope it's gas and not a blood clot. I am walking and using a heating pad. I will call my dr or go to the ER if it doesn't get better.

In the meantime any other suggestions?

  5. I think another good assessment would be to find out how many calories you're consuming on the liquid diet. I know that on mine I was allowed 3-5 shakes a day (Bariatric Advantage)' date=' with each shake being between 150-250 calories, depending on what I added to it. That gave me a ballpark caloric intake of between 450 (at lowest) and 1250 (at highest) per day.[/quote']

The shakes the dr gave me are each 160 calories each. I drink 5 a day for a total of 800 calories a day. Aside from Water and a sugar free Jello (which is 5 calories) I have nothing else.

  6. Do you take any medications that could be hindering your weight loss... I am on Opti and Abilify it took me 5 days to lose 3 pounds which i felt was implied not to be normal by the doctor.

You should call you doctors office and speak to the nutritionist - maybe they can switch you to something other than Opti

I take metphormine, humalog and levamire. I called and left a message. I will try to call them again on Monday.

  7. I'm so incredibly nervous. It's a fairly tame diet: 5 days of clear liquids' date=' followed by surgery on the 14th. But it's still 5 days with no food and I am just..... I think I'm ready. I'm definately ready for my relationship with food to change. I can only speculate how hard this will all be.[/quote']

Lucky!!! I have to do 15 days of liquid diet... I am on day 4. It is not too bad. I miss chewing, I use gum to help with that. I also eat sugar free Jello as a sweet break to the Protein shakes.
