  1. I got sleeved at Methodist as well, but attend a few groups from all over. Check out the ones on this list, maybe you can find one more near to you: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/89017-dfw-area-weight-loss-surgery-support-groups-list/
  2. The Methodist Hospital Dallas Monthly Support Group Meeting is held every third Tuesday of the month at 6pm. This is the facility in Oak Cliff on the corner of Beckley and Colorado. Park in Garage B (validation available) and the meeting is held in the Weiss Auditorium next to Pavillion 2.

  4. I am at almost 4 months out. At my 3 month visit with my doctor, I was old to expect the weight loss to slow down at this point. So what's happening to you is the way it's supposed to be and nothing to beat yourself up over. 60 pounds in 4 months is a significant accomplishment - be proud of it. Seeing a therapist that specializes in eating disorders is a good suggestion that others have given you and something you won't regret doing.
  5. A year ago today I couldn't stand for more than 10 minutes without breaking into a sweat and needing to sit down. Today I finished my first 5K. The fastest guy in my age group finished it in 22 minutes - it took me 4 times as long but I finished it! What made this even more special was being able to walk it with people from my support group for which many was their first 5K as well.
  6. Depends on how far out you are. I was sleeved at the end of May of this year and use Metamucil Psyllium Husk Fiber, but that might be too harsh if you're not far out enough. A friend suggested Miralax or Milk of Magnesia as others have mentioned. And make sure you're meeting your Fluid goal DAILY.
  7. I have five (one in the navel). I'm thinking they'll be around for awhile but at least they don't hurt. I gave up on a career in stomach modeling years ago.
  8. A buddy turned me onto the Fitbit Radio app for android. If you can tolerate the occasional "commercial" it's not bad. Currently I'm into the Dubstep/Trap channel for music that is around 140bpm
  9. Back in the day, I could easily finish two plates of that. I agree with you, but in actuality that meal is cheap to produce and a happy customer is a returning customer.
  10. I was able to drink 8oz at about 2 weeks out? For peace of mind, call your doctor.
  11. I consider that a full food and i wasn't cleared for them until after 7 weeks out. When are you cleared for full foods?
  12. You are not far out enough to be complaining about a stall. If you're weighing everyday, stop it - you don't need to weigh more than once a week. Be patient, keep doing what they're telling you to do, and great things are coming your way!
  13. Despite my ups and downs all over the scale, I have been a member of one gym or another since 2005. Never once, NOT ONE TIME, in all of those years has anyone ridiculed me or harassed me or said anything negative to me. What I have heard is encouragement, from random strangers, from staff at the gyms, "you're doing a great job, keep it up''. Honestly, those gym rats, both male and female, with the incredible bodies, don't even pay attention to us because they're too busy looking in the mirror! Everyone else is just trying to do their thing, get it over with, and go home. First thing you do is find gym staff to show you how to work the machines until you find the one you like. If you can only do 5 minutes on the treadmill or elliptical, then do that every day. Once you get comfortable with gym equipment, get yourself a heart rate monitor - they are invaluable in your workout.
  14. VST is okay but it doesn't come close to being a support group. I cannot over-emphasize how important it is to get face-to-face with other patients and actual experts in the bariatric field - they are very few and far between here at VST.
  15. Great advice - I wish I would have seen your post before I clicked Post on mine!
  16. Give it time. You'll be able to satisfy your thirst soon. In the meantime, sip constantly and all day long. If you're tired of Water, try Powerade Zero or something. Lately I've discovered that I will drink way more Powerade Zero than I will water, and that's fine.
  17. I recommend that you keep at it and do your 15 minutes every day. After a month look at doing 20. I started out doing 10 minutes and had to take 3 breaks to finish. This coming Saturday I'll be walking my first 5K (with no breaks)
  18. I'm 3+ months out. About a week ago i was taking a nap and the gurgling woke me up. I don't notice it unless I'm in a quiet environment. I don't think anyone else could hear it but don't quote me on that.
  19. Well done, young lady! Wear it proud!
  20. My surgeon required 2 week liquid-only preop diet (which were two bags of Bariatric Advantage shakes). You should ask you surgeon what he specifically requires so that you don't waste your money. If he didn't give you guidance, demand it.
  21. In addition to all the DFWers here, you will find loads of support at one of the many support groups in the area. Click this link: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/89017-dfw-area-weight-loss-surgery-support-groups-list/
  22. According to http://www.smoothiek...ional-chart.php the 20oz Strawberry Kiwi Breeze has 90 carbs and cannot be made skinny?!
  23. It's a legitimate male concern, he posted in the men's room, and you added exactly 0 value to this thread - congrats.
  24. Congrats to you, LipstickLady! Your face looks so much thinner and your body is amazingly curvy! Good work!
