  1. Are either of you measuring yourselves? If so, are you losing inches? If you are losing inches you are not stalled.
  2. Looks like we're in the same area - did they hand out this list at the meeting you attended? http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/259587-dfw-area-weight-loss-surgery-support-groups-list/ Congrats on the door prize!
  3. 35g of Protein will stall your weight loss. At your point in the journey, it's all about getting that protein in and hydrating. I eat 6 times a day, sometimes 7 (these are small meals). You MUST plan your meals out and bring enough food to last you through your workday - it's what I have to do. If you have to supplement with Protein shakes to get that protein up then do so. I use Syntrax nectar at 100 cals 21g of protein. It's what I have first thing in the morning when I wake up and after going to the gym.
  4. Not only does it get easier but it could become, brace yourself, enjoyable! This time last year I was in the vicinity of 400lbs - yesterday I ran 6.5 miles. If the C25K gets too tough, do NOT hesitate to take it slower but get to that goal. The first time I ran 5K on the treadmill I cried lol! EDIT: This popped up on my Facebook timeline right after I posted the above: http://www.runnersworld.com/beginners/top-10-newbie-training-tips?cm_mmc=Facebook-_-RunnersWorld-_-Content-Training-_-Top10NewbieTips
  5. http://5daypouchtest.com/ it's not a long read.
  6. Who told you that you are not special? Lemme know, I'll rough 'em up and set 'em straight!
  7. In your shoes I'd give this a try: http://5daypouchtest.com/
  8. How many of that groups meetings have you been to? Are you aware that they also do weekend walks, many of the local 5k/10k/half-marathons in the area, and other fitness activities? Have you been to any of the other groups in the DFW area?
  9. This time last year I was wearing a 62 x 30 pants and a 5x shirt. As I type this, I'm wearing a 40 x 30 pants and 2x shirt.
  10. I ate the EXACT same thing I ate yesterday around the same time but wasn't paying attention today and had this experience because I wasn't paying attention and ate too fast.
  11. I am 51, was sleeved at 50. I've lost 188lbs as I type this and made the mistake of looking at my backside in the mirror. :-( That being said I am healthier, more active, and no longer taking high blood pressure or diabetes meds. A couple days ago I bought the first 1X shirt since the early 1990s. I'll live with the loose skin until it causes me medical issues.
  12. I've had my gurgling stomach wake me up from a nap! lol Unless it's accompanied by discomfort or issues, it's normal and happens to lots of us. It doesn't necessarily mean hunger.
  13. I was walking almost immediately after surgery - laps around the nurses station. I was on the treadmill one week after surgery. Not killing it, but a nice walk.
  14. Hey this is Carlos. Congrats to you! Well done, you look amazing!
  15. 1 week to the day - I drove myself to my one week followup. It was more an issue of being off the liquid hydrocodone for 24 hours than anything else.
  16. Wearing a strap is the price you pay for accuracy. I'm a Polar fan, DigiFit runs on my (Android) smartphone. A little over a month ago I started using a FitBit force and they work great together (I would trust calories burned as noted by my Polar over what FitBit says, however).
  17. People suggested going to Goodwill to get clothes while losing weight and I was skeeved out when i first heard this (wearing used clothes? ick!). After spending $100+ on pants only to have to replace them a month and a half later I went to Goodwill . After awhile I was able to fit into clothes at Wal-Mart so I get stuff from there too now. I'll save the designer clothes for after i get to goal.
  18. I had surgery on a Tuesday at 11am and was leaving the hospital the next day around the same time so it's possible. You'll want to ask your surgeon to be sure as he probably has his own criteria for releasing you.
  19. The thinspiration meeting was wonderful! Several new faces and most of us regulars. TOTALLY worth the drive from Forney to Frisco!
  20. I'd say you're having the same feelings most of us did. Anyone else worried about long term risk, since it's still fairly new? Like I wonder if in 40yrs from now (I'm early 30's) I have some other issue and this will affect it? Considering I probably wouldn't have been alive 40 years from now without surgery, no worries. I know my diet will be mostly protein and veggies and rarely room for carbs...does that mean no more carbs or fried food ever? Or ethnic food? (I'm asian so some food from my culture but I could focus on protein stuff first...for example, can I have curry?) Early on, probably no carbs or fried food. Your tummy will have limited space so you'll want to "invest" in protein first. I love ethnic food and haven't denied myself anything, but, I compensate for overindulgences at the gym. You'll want to go easy on anything spicy or bold the first time you have it after surgery. I know no soda or carbonated drinks anymore...was this hard to give up? I had been a diet coke fiend for many years but had cut down considerably way before surgery anyway. Eliminating them wasn't a big deal for me and I switched to iced tea. I've had a few diet cokes after surgery and the unpleasantness of the carbonation isn't worth it anymore. It's been months since I had one and won't again. Is the first week of just liquids extremely difficult? Thinking about it and it seems pretty hard to do only liquids for a whole week Not difficult at all THANKS TO being on a two-week liquid-only preop diet beforehand. The first four days of that diet were awful but I was good to go after that and it really helped me through the two weeks after surgery. I'm a NYer...no more bagels ever? Good luck trying to eat a bagel! Seriously tho, prior to 6 months out it was a challenge to eat a quarter of one (with cream cheese). I *might* be able to eat half of one now. --I love ice water and not drinking near meals sounds tricky...does it get easier? Yes! But start practicing that NOW so that you're over the habit by the time you can eat foods again after surgery. How do you explain to others what you did? Did anyone make you feel badly? I might be the exception, but EVERYONE that has said something has been supportive. Some people won't say anything about your weight loss and that's okay. I've not once had someone tell me I took the easy way out. What do you do when you're on vacation or near the holidays etc, just try your best to stick to plan? ALWAYS log your food in MFP or something similar, even on vacation. Not every food will be listed in MFP, either add it manually or guess at it. Even guessing is better than logging nothing.
  21. Quest Cinnamon Roll. Tasty AND filling! i love the PBJ ones as well but way too many calories so I avoid them.
  22. A neighbor down my street, the mother of my daughter's friend, an ex-boss of mine (and his wife) all influenced me into getting sleeved. I *may* have influenced my customer into getting sleeved and have been asked and talked to others about it.
  23. Honestly (and I want someone to tell me differently) the only difference I see with the force is that it has a display when you press the button. You get time, steps taken so far today, floors climbed, miles traveled, floors climbed, etc. Seems to me I would get the Flex first then upgrade to a Force if I really really thought I needed it.
  24. If it's not secure enough it will practically fall off at the slightest nudge. The little fingers have to snap into the holes. This can be difficult at first but gets easier with use.
  25. Make sure you measure yourself as well because it is completely possible for you to lose inches and not weight (I've had this happen several times).
