    Info on the Marriott, please?

I am not very adventurous so I didn't explore the hotel too much, but the room was beautiful. Tv worked great with lots of english channels. In room safe, bottled water always there and you can request more. Room service is great and everyone speaks english. Wifi works in your room and they will bring you a code each day. Lots of pillows (extra blanket and pillow in bathroom closet as well).

    Alone in Mexico

I went alone in April with Dr. Garcia. I was better off that way because I didn't have anyone to worry about. Because I was alone I didn't wander around or go shopping or anything I strictly stayed in the hotel. Most packages are all inclusive for patients and no extra charge for a care person besides their food. This could differ depending on the doctor.
  5. I had Dr. Garcia, he and his team were pretty awesome. I paid $4700 + $500 for high bmi. That included 2 days in the hospital and 3 in the hotel.
  6. I was in Florence back in April, the nurses were great. I was really dehydrated so they waited to do my IV until I was in the OR and I didn't have issues with it after that. They are round the clock with nausea and pain meds, they come immediately when you call them and I never heard them. I only had one that didn't speak english. I went in early april and I thought the temp was fine. Dr Luna visited me everyday

    Deposit at marriott in tijuanna

I was at the marriott from the 14 - 16th of this month you do have to pay a $100 deposit either by credit card or cash I paid in cash and got it back when I checked out. I had no other costs besides tipping while I was there

    Google voice?

I could not get google voice or viber to work for me. I have tmobile and had coverage for texting at florence but absolutely nothing at the marriott. What did work for me is bobsled, its tmobile wifi calling and worked beautifully.

    No will power!

I am only 7 days post op but have been thinking about how I am going to deal with my emotional/stress eating later on. I've begun looking up recipes and ideas. I want so badly to do this the right way all the way through but just in case I have a break down I have a plan. If I decide all I want is a burger from a fast food place okay I can do that many places have options to just have it wrapped in lettuce (carl's jr, in and out, and I think even BK). So if I break down and need a burger I can substitute a turkey burger and lettuce. If you are going to be dying for a bag of chips maybe have a healthier option, kale chips? or maybe even those Special K chips that only have 100 calories. Yes you are not filling up on the right thing first but at least you won't be totally devastated. So in my personal opinion if you HAVE to have something at least take the few moments to make a healthier decision. I have visited this blog and there are several others if you google them. http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ There are examples on how to make chicken nuggets, cheese sticks, just in a healthier way. I am only 7 days post op but on my preop diet sugar free icepops were my friend to prevent any cheating. Good luck with your journey!

    Going to miss the most

I keep seeing Red Robin commericals and all I want is a big fat cheesy hamburger with freaking fries. I am 7 days post op and the head hunger is messing with me. I am pretty proud of myself though I have been making my hubby meals and had no desire for anything, I just sip on my protein shakes like a good girl. For people with diet soda addictions I had the same thing for coke zero. Like 5 weeks before my surgery I weaned myself off of soda, it was soo hard. Then I did a week of atkins, figuring I could get my body in ketosis but still eat fats. In my opinion it helped so much in my transition to the preop diet, I did 2-3 protein shakes with a salad/chicken/tuna for my preop, if I was starving which I really wasn't I would have a little more salad or more protein.
  11. I had a 21 day preop diet(high bmi), I did 2-3 protiein shakes per day and a salad with either chicken, lean beef, or tuna. If i was starving to death I had a little extra salad or chicken. My last 3 days were clear fluids only, I did jello, sugar free icepops, sugar free gum, lotssss of water. My biggest motivator was that I had already paid a deposit, and bought my airline tickets so there was no way I was going to mess it up. With 2 1/2 days left to go you can do this!

    Dr. Garcia / Ready 4 A Change

Melissa took care of my things while I was doing testing before surgery, everything was in my hospital room when I came in. I did not request anything to be locked in the safe I brought a wheeled carry on suitcase and a little messenger bag, all I did is put my id/passport/cash inside my suitcase with a lock, nothing was messed with at all.

    Dr. Garcia / Ready 4 A Change

I was sleeved by dr garcia Friday while I only saw him just before surgery his team and coordinators are amazing. nurses were great at Florence and Dr Luna was post op doc he visited twice a day then took out staples in the hotel. Alma scheduled my surgery and patiently answered all my questions. Melissa takes care of the hospital stuff and checked on me several times. Rosie called as soon as I got to the hotel and everyday to see how I was feeling and if I needed anything. I leave in the morning back home have enjoyed the marriott though I wish I would have brought someone with me or just stayed two days(bored) so far im pleased with my experience.
  15. I had surgery Friday and am at the marriott is anyone else here
  16. I am leaving for Mexico in just a few hours. I packed regular tolietry items, undies, like 3 shirts, 2 pants, pj's, a sports bra, and reading material. I am having same day surgery and will be in the hospital for 2 days then hotel for 3.
  17. Im flying out tomorrow for surgery with dr garcia hope to see some of you therr

    am I being naive? ?

I chose to tell only a few people close to me then told my hr manager and three of the female managers that im very close with. Now everyone knows and is making judgments my co manager told me today that I better be prepared to throw up the rest of my life because that's what it does to everyone. I wish I would have told no one now.

    Protein Shakes

I have tried almost all the syntrax nectar flavors and the only one I liked was the chocolate truffle. I have tried MRM Vanilla, eww. About time cinnamon, its alright. I have a huge tub of it so I will finish it eventually. Atkins Vanilla/chocolate is good, maybe a little too sweet. I enjoy Premier Protein from Costco/Sams club in chocolate I haven't tried another flavor but its actually enjoyable, not just choke it down. I also almost had a moment of weakness while grocery shopping but instead found OhYeah! ready to drink protein. It has a higher calorie count then Premier but is equally good and packs 32g protein. I am waiting for my unjury chicken broth to get here, and am heading to GNC in the next day or two to get Isopure for my post-op. If you go to different sites they usually sell sample packets, unjury does, chike I believe does, about time. I ordered syntrax nectar samples from bjsbariatrics I'm soo glad I did and didn't waste money on a big tub of it.
  20. I was reading on the Mexico Sleevers FB page that some people were having to share rooms at MiDoctor due to overcrowding. Dr Garcia is also doing surgeries out of Florence. The rooms are bigger, and if you are bringing a support person they will have a bed to sleep on instead of the possibility of just a recliner. I have also heard that it is quieter because its closer to the beach rather than the border
  21. I just changed to Florence/Oasis hospital with Dr Garcia, I was concerned with overcrowding at MIDoctor and having to share a room so Melissa from R4AC offered Florence. They also told me I can have same day surgery even though I am arriving in the afternoon so I have opted for that route. April 12th!! Maybe I will see you at the Marriot EMSJen?
  22. I just switched to Florence/Oasis and am having same day surgery on April 12th! I will still be at the marriot so maybe I will see some of you there?
  23. I am going to be making a trip into GNC in the next few days to try Isopure rtd. I was looking on their website at ready to drink Proteins and there are many new ones! One I am looking at is Protein Ice, says it is recommended for bariatric patients but is still pricy. juice like protein and its really good, but it contains caffine which will be a no no for awhile.
  24. I just downloaded the hydrate app. You can track intake in different measurements and even set reminders to drink. This is going to be great for me at work post op

    Real Sugar vs Sugar Substitute

I use liquid Splenda the chemicals in Splenda are used to make it into a dry form that also has hidden carbs the liquid tastes better and it comes in a tiny bottle I can take with me. I have also heard of a sweetener called whey low I'm thinking about trying it guarantees you will like the taste
