    Gaining weight

you haven't really gained weight. when you fasted, you lost water weight and now you've gained it back. just continue on your high protein/low carb diet and keep up your exercise and you will lose again real soon.

    Nervous about 6 week appt

27 lbs in 6 weeks is great! and you should get cleared for exercise at your appt. tomorrow so then the weight will really start to fall off. i have 66 lbs in 4 months post surgery. always be happy about what you lose and happy about the exercise you do. you are the only one whose happiness you have to worry about.

    300's

i started out in january at 398. day of surgery i was 379. and now i'm 316! so no, you are not too big for surgery. it will change your life. i workout at a gym 3 days a week now. i had never been inside a gym until after the surgery. so many good changes will come your way. it was the best decision i've ever made.
  12. i was having a lot of pain when i took my pills every morning and when i ate. so at about a month out i had ct scan done (loved that orange barium) to make sure i didn't have a leak. it was fine so the doctor prescribed Carafate to coat my stomach. i take it each morning and evening and it has helped immensely. maybe ask your doctor about that.
  13. 3 more lbs gone, gone, gone. makes a total of 70 lbs lost in just over 6 months.

    Need encouragement :(

you will be asleep! you won't know anything they are doing. it'll be ok! the day of and the day after surgery i was sore and it hurt to bend over, but i was out walking the floors. i had iv pain meds the first two days and then i had liquid pain meds that i took for about 3 days after coming home. that's it. it's not half as scary or painful as you think it's going to be. you can do this!!

    Crabby Pants

oh my god, you poor thing. how are you ever going to live through all this $&$**^% horribleness-ness? you really made me laugh because i was having a couple of those days a few days ago. at one point i told my cats to get off their lazy, freeloading asses and do the dishes and fold the laundry and just make my life easier, lol. so suggestions: since your mom likes to wash things, she can put your dog in the washer and hang him on the line to dry-no more stinky dog. you can take all the wrong kind yogurt and put it on the professor's desk and tell him he will either switch your lab time or you'll knock out all his teeth and that damn yogurt will be the only he will be eating for the next 6 months. and then you can take a whole bunch of Bean-o, jump up and down and then blow the bastard into next tuesday with the most mammoth, awesome, horrendous fart ever registered on the Richter scale! lol lol lol that ought to make you feel better and less like a crappy pants! jackie

    started eating

so how is everyone doing? i am 5 weeks out today and this past week has been hell. i have been sick as a dog. i think the extreme heat may have something to do with it, but i also think i was actually starving. i got to the point earlier this week where i was dizzy and sick to my stomach and felt like passing out all the time. now i know everyone's surgeon has different guidelines and mine seems to have some of the strictest that i found on here. i could only eat cream of wheat, yogurt, carnation instant Breakfast and sugar free pudding with Protein Powder mixed in. i just couldn't stomach those or the terrible Protein Shakes anymore. i'd try, but just couldn't. and i could barely get any Water down, maybe 32 oz a day rather than 64 oz. so day before yesterday i spent a lot of time looking to see what others at the same stage as me have been approved to eat and then i went to the store and bought some food. i bought laughing cow cheese spread, cheddar cheese, eggs, bean and veggie Soup and some fruit. instantly i started feeling better. i was finally getting some nutrition. what a difference it has made. in the past two days i have had scrambled eggs, cheese on a 1/4 pita, boiled eggs, cheese and 3 whole grain crackers, watermelon and apricots and some bean soup. i feel human again and like i just might survive now. let me tell you, if anyone else is having the hard time i was having, i would suggest you try incorporating some new and different Protein items into your diet. i am glad i did.

    Fail psych exam?

i have bipolar disorder and i was approved. my psych exam went really well. honestly just don't bring up those thoughts. talk about how optimistic you are for the future and explain how much research and preparation you have done. talk about the positive changes you have already made in your life. the psych did have to make sure i had plenty of support through the process. he contacted my therepist who ensured him that i meet with her every week and talking about the changes/thoughts/feelings i would be going through would be part of my therapy. he approved me with a smile.
  23. thanks for the link. i had never visited that site before. i am going to get some crunchy protein bars and some protein fruit drinks. hopefully these help because i really cannot stomach those protein shakes anymore.
