Canadian off to Mexico in May

Hello fellow Albertans! I was born and raised in Lethbridge but now live in Virginia. I'm getting sleeved here on Monday. I wish you all the best of luck with your surgeries and travels. There seems to be a lot of great feedback on this site about Mexico so I'm sure all will be very successful ????
  3. Hi Vegas! I'm an April sleever too (4/8/13) and looking forward to it just like you!! Found a quote that I've living by these last few months to get mentally prepared for my new post-surgery life: she who cannot change the very fabric of her thought will never change her reality. It just struck a cord with me and have recited it to myself everyday. Here's a cheer for all us April sleevers! ????

    Any April sleevers out there?

In the category of protein drinks, I just found out that Unjury has an unflavored variety and is supposed to be good when added into your favorite crystal light drink. Now that sounds promising!
  5. I'm getting sleeved on April 8, and feel I'm well on my way being mentally prepared for post-surgery life. I've been practicing taking small bites and chewing forever before swallowing and think I'll be okay with that. But, what I really cannot get my head around is the idea of not drinking and eating at the same time. I'm not sure I can eat a meal with out drinking Water. I've tried practicing this a couple of times over the last few days, but I just feel like I still need to 'wash' down my food - it's so ingrained! I wanted to see if there is anyone that's already had surgery and had felt like I do to see if they were able to 're-train' themselves? Is it one of those things that I'll learn quickly once I experience the effects myself?..or is this something that I'll really need to focus some mental energy on? I will admit that this is pretty much the only thing that is causing me angst about my surgery. Thanks, Simone
  6. This was so incredibly helpful!! The whole idea of having a high Protein dip to help things along, makes so much sense - a great "ah-ha!" moment for me - thank you! And from posts like Amy's, it sounds like my body will definitely let me know if I'm not doing it right. I have to say I'll probably learn pretty quickly from "negative reinforcement".... Thanks folks -- this has relieved a real mental stress that I had about the procedure.

    Before and After - 241 to 128

Wow!!! That is beyond awesome - congrats!!!
  8. Thanks to all for the replies and appreciate the suggestions. I'm definitely going to put more effort into practicing to get along with our drinking while eating, and was relieved to see that there were others that had the exact same mental struggle with this as me.

    April sleevers

looks like there's quite the group of us getting sleeved on April 8 (Curvey, KatieOkieDokie, Happy01, me - who am I missing?) I finally got around to trying a protien shake this weekend. OMG.. it was horrible! My husband picked it up at the Vitamin Shoppe - brand was Robb something maybe? The brand didn't look familiar to me at all from posts on here, so I'm hoping that means that the others everyone talks about really are better!!

    Any April sleevers out there?

How much time off is everyone planning for recovery? My doc just told me about 2 1/2 weeks - I had been planning just for two! I guess I'll put in the paperwork to be out 3 weeks and hope like any thing I can go back to work sooner!

    April sleevers

My surgery is April 8 and it seemed like it was still way out there until I got the email with all my pre-op apps and took a look at how many weekends I have left to get everything done and ready! Glad there is a group of us all doing it around the same time. Nice to be able to vent/ stress with folks in the same boat !

    Any April sleevers out there?

I've been out of the loop for a few days and just popped on to catch up. Boy!, you all are so far ahead of me on being organized! I still haven't had a chance to try/order any protein drinks. I better get a move on! ???? Had my appt with the physicians assistant on Tuesday and got my orders for all my per-op testing. I'm very happy that the hospital I'm using has one central person and she takes care of setting up all the appointments! My life is so nuts that this is a huge lifesaver. April 8 here I come!!
  14. I am a few weeks out from surgery and am struggling with this as well. I'm also one of those types that is pretty forth-coming about my personal life at work, but I just do not have the comfort level to talk about the surgery. Is it that I'm worried I'll fail and don't want people to know? Possibly. Is it that I'm embarrassed that I ever got to this weight in the first place to have to take this step? Maybe. Am I worried about dealing with negative energy if I find that someone is a "non-supporter". Most Definitely. I wouldn't try and defend myself to a non-supporters, but to be honest, I just don't want any negative energy around me. This is a big decision, and a scary one. I need all my own good energy I can muster to face the surgery and the changes ahead for me. So you can see I'm pretty set it what I'm saying (or not saying) pre-surgery. However, in looking ahead to the weeks and months post-surgery, I truly do not know how I will handle it. Again, I don't want to deal with negative energy, but I also know myself...If somone asks me a direct question, I always end up answering honestly -- terrrible liar! So I guess I need to start planning an answer (whether I choose to tell or not tell). Maybe if I start practicing it in my head now, it will come out naturally once the weight starts to come off and people begin to notice. :0)

    Any April sleevers out there?

Unjury seems to be a popular brand. Thanks for the heads up on ordering the samples. I think I'll go and order them too. Nice to know that you are having surgery on the same day as me. Doesn't seem quite so scary when you know someone is going thru it at the exact same time too :-)

    Any April sleevers out there?

Glad to see we've got a great group of April sleevers!! It will be nice to have the support. Question about the protein shake samples - how are you getting them? I've done no research the shakes at all yet. I imagine that my next doc visit will get into it but would love to be ahead of the game and already trying them out.

    Any April sleevers out there?

Thanks for starting the thread - I just got the call today that my surgery is set for April 8th, too! After years of thinking about this, it's hard to believe it will all be happening in just under 6 weeks! Excited and cannot wait! :0)
  19. Congratulations! I have admit that when I read the title of your submission, I was completely jealous! That's one of those milestones I hope to get to. I'm waiting for all the paperwork to get in order to move forward with having the surgery, but am very anxious to get it done and start beign able to celebrate things like this. :0)
