  1. It tastes like very salty jello. It took 40 minutes for me to drink 10 oz. I have another 10 oz bottle to drink in 10 minutes. I poured it over ice and it was better than room temp. To be honest I'm more nauseated than anything. I have to be at the surgery center for 8:30 tomorrow morning. I'm on my 4th cup of water (32 oz cup) and I've had 2 bowls of beef broth today for my liquid diet.
  2. Good luck! I'm tomorrow at 8:30
  3. You should ask your doctor if you can take any medication.
  4. I was told to shower with dial soap (I'm a total caress soap girl) the morning before I arrive and not to apply lotions, powders, perfumes, no makeup or jewelry.
  5. Mine Pre op requirement is 24 hours of liquids before surgery. I've technically got until 8:30 am today (Sunday) to eat, but I'm doing liquids from midnight on. Then I have to do two 10 oz bottles of laxatives. Ugh...
  6. I was freaking out on the 56 too! I had 3 incisions when they removed my gallbladder and I will have 5 with this surgery.
  7. Can you add to your shakes? You can add 1 cup unsweetened applesauce & cinnamon to a vanilla protein shake & blend with a cup of ice and make it thick enough to eat with a spoon. Just think of how many pounds you will lose Pre-surgery! You will be more energized and feel healthier every day. Good luck!!
  8. Thanks, I have the cherry flavor. It was either that or grape (ugh) my hubby picked up a few packs of protein shakes for me today at wal mart. He said he saw them and thought of me, he bought Adkins choc, eas protein shakes in vanilla and choc latte. I'll let you all know next week how I like them.m
  9. I have fibro, RA, Sjogrens, asthma, Pre diabetes (oral med's only) & take a tons of med's. I was told to only take my prempro & Bystolic the morning of surgery, I need to use my inhaler as usual and bring rescue inhaler with me for surgery. My rheumatologist told me he will adjust my med's as I lose weight. My GP will adjust other med's as needed. My advice is too just keep track of all med's taken, any side effects as you lose weight. Congratulations and good luck!!
  10. Thanks! I'll be sleeved on Monday morning. I have to be there for 8:30 am. I was called on Friday with all of my instructions. I need to shower with dial antibacterial soap that morning, no lotions, powders, perfumes, no make-up, nail polish on fingers (toes are ok) no jewelry. She said the surgery will take about 45-90 min and then 2 hours recovery and then I'll get to go to my room, I'll have a chair to sit up in and if I want to,walk I can, it's not necessary because I'll have stockings attached to a machine to massage my legs. I asked if I could get up and walk and she said yes. I plan on walking as much as I can. She said dr. Borland will suck out as much air as possible so gas should not be a problem. (I'm bringing gas x strips just in case)
  11. I've got to do clear liquids for 24 hours before my surgery and at 4pm the day before Surgery I have to drink a 10oz bottle of magnesium citrate and then another 10oz at 6pm. How bad will my tummy be after that? Do I need to plan spending the night in the bathroom?
  12. Wow! I haven't had a period in 11 months. I've been on prempro for 2 years now. I pray that I do not start again. I'm getting sleeved on Monday. I'm hoping that phase of my life is over. Hope you all get back to regular visits soon!
  13. Thank you all. I was just a bit concerned.
  14. I know this is odd, but how long after I'm sleeved before I can receive Holy Communion at Mass? It is a round crisp wafer made of wheat flour & water.
  15. I've thought about buying some miso Soup from the local Japanese Hibachi restuarant and then freezing it into 1 oz servings. Then just defrost when needed, but I can't seem to get an accurate number for Proteins. The calories range from 35-150 per serving (most servings shown are a cup) but the Protein goes from 1.5 all the way to 11 grams and so does the carbs. This is on the my fitness pal app. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/nutrition-facts-calories/miso-soup Any ideas?
  16. Good luck to all of you too!!
  17. I only have to do the clear liquids for 24 hours, I'd be cranky too if it were for 10 days. Good luck with your surgery!!
  18. Hi all! I'm a self pay who will be sleeved on Monday 2/25/13 with Dr. Borland in New Iberia, Louisiana. I'm a bit nervous, but I'm really ready! Over the years I've made appt. after appt with different doctors and I canceled everyone before my consultation. I am soooooo glad I canceled all those lap band appts. I have friends who got the band and have had nothing but trouble. Anyway my rheumatologist and my family doctor both suggested the sleeve and I tossed around the idea and prayed over it. It took a few weeks but I called and made the appt with Dr Borland and I had 2 weeks til my appt day (1/21/13) and I didn't cancel, I actually went to the consultation. I liked him on the spot. He was friendly, knowledgable, he answered my questions, understands my condition (I have several autoimmune diseases) and he said he felt very comfortable with me having surgery. The date was set for 2/25/13 for surgery. I had my blood work, chest X-rays & an EKG the following week (2/28/13) and my EKG had a high heart rate (106) so I explained that I had just trekked thru the hospital parking lot, then down the halls, back & forth from X-ray, back to admitting, back to X-ray....I told him "your heart would be beating fast too if you lugged 150 extra pounds around all day" that got a chuckle from him. So anyway I passed all my Pre-op tests, I've lost 8 lbs since I saw him. I have to do a clear diet for 24 hours before surgery and at 4pm on Sunday I have to drink 10oz of magnesium citrate and then again at 6pm. Nothing to drink that is red or citrus. I'm ready to be a BIG LOSER!!!!
