  1. Thank you. I was in a 9 wide and now an 8.5 M feels comfy.
  2. I'm 2 weeks and 3 days post op and today I tried on a pair of shoes that I had bought online and were too tight and they now fit. I guess I lost in my feet too.
  3. I'm not much of a drinker but I do enjoy a caramel apple martini every now and then. I'm sure I'll have a drink this coming summer for my bday. I'm only 2 weeks post op so it's not an issue yet.
  4. Sounds like it. I can walk a bit, being off my med's (several autoimmune diseases) has made it really hard to exercise. I can grind some med's but not all. I'm getting there slowly but steady.
  5. Would you please share your recipes? The premixed shakes make me gag. My email is jkl381@yahoo.com I'd appreciate anything recipes you feel like sharing.
  6. I paid cash $9,800 to Dr. Borland in New Iberia, Louisiana
  7. No Pre-op diet (Clear liquids 24 hrs before surgery) and I'm 2 weeks post op today. Initial consult 1/21/13 - 331 lbs Surgery 2/25/13 - 227 lbs 3/10/13 - 300.6 lbs So total loss is 30.4 lbs (26.4 since surgery)
  8. I'm 2 weeks sleeved today and I had a few bites of chicken salad. I put the chicken in my food processor and then added eggs to it too. I put unflavored greek yogurt (instead of mayo) and made it mushy. I had very small bites and I chewed very well. I had refried Beans & I thinned them with a bit of Water and then I added a tbsp of unflavored Greek yogurt to it and stirred it in very well. Tomorrow I will try canned tuna in water and I'll mix it with Greek yogurt as well. I just bought a container of oatmeal (the type you cook) and I'm going to add a spoon of flavored greek yogurt to my oatmeal when I make it.
  9. Try unflavored greek yogurt and mix a little at a time until your tuna salad is moist enough.
  10. I love frozen grapes, I can't eat them yet because of the skin, but they do make a nice 'sweet' snack.
  11. I'm going to try to freeze small bite size servings of Greek yogurt. I'm going to place freezer paper on a plate and drop small teaspoon sized yogurt drops onto it. Freeze until hard and then put them in a ziplock. High protein, low sugar frozen yogurt bite. IDK how well it will freeze but I'm going to try it.
  12. Loose pants (belly button might be sore) & top for flight home, few pairs undies, pajama pants & tops, socks w/grips (walking on hospital floor might be slippery) and (it wasn't easy putting on slippers while wearing leg stockings) I brought my iPhone & charger & my Kindle fire (fully charged) and other than basic toiletries (toothbrush, paste, scope, deodorant) I brought a ponytail holder & a hair clip, facial cleanser & moisturizer (sample size) lip balm and gas-x strips. I had tape residue on my face from the tube being down my throat & I knew that I'd need to wash my face so I brought a sample size with me. Everything else was provided for me.
  13. Awesome! Congratulations!!
  14. I live in Louisiana, I went to Dr. Borland in New Iberia, La I was self pay $9,800 I would recommend him in a heartbeat. I was sleeved 2/25/13
  15. I had a rash from the adhesive tape. I gently washed with dial soap and a soft washcloth and rubbed at the tape spot to get the residue off. I couldn't use lotions or ointments but I was able to crush a benedryl and took it.
  16. I'm 10 days out and I can barely drink an entire 11 oz shake during the day. I do drink water (about 28 oz) and I eat ice chips. As for food, I had 1/4 cup really runny refried beans and stretched that out over 2 days. I ate on it 4 times. I sip slowly, but I can make larger sips today than I could yesterday. I did have 4 teaspoons of mashed potatoes & gravy. I've had a few tummy issues where I drink or eat and I feel full instantly. My dr has me on 40 mg Prilosec and I take a few other med's and they have to be crushed daily. Those I mix with a spoon of applesauce. I think we all are just learning and testing what we can eat and drink. I know when I feel full and when I need to stop.
  17. Grind chicken in food processor, add boiled egg, a bit of unflavored Greek yogurt or mayo, seasoning and blend very well.
  18. I'm going from clear liquids to creamy foods right now. And it has been tough. Food makes me sick to smell it, I'm having trouble drinking the protein shakes. None taste good at all. Even the 3 that I liked cause me to gag.
  19. I'm 1 week and 3 days post op and the smell of food still makes me sick. I am having trouble getting in my liquids and the protein shakes make me nauseated really bad. Today I've had 24 oz water, 8 oz skim milk, 8 teaspoons total of cream of wheat (made with skim milk & Splenda) I will try more chicken broth tonight, but so far everything makes me sick.
  20. Last night I had a bad experience with a sugar free orange Popsicle. I had one of the types on a stick (all the others had been in the clear skinny plastic tubes) anyway about 10 min later I told my husband I felt sick. And OMG was I sick. I retched & dry heaved for over 5 minutes straight. I would try to catch my breath and another wave of gut wrenching dry heaves would hit me. I had no control at all. I finally threw up a thick, slimy glob of foamy mucus. My entire body hurts today from straining so much. What causes those dry heaves and why?
  21. I hope you feel better. If the protein drinks are too yucky, try milk with higher protein & lower carbs. Good luck
  22. I'm 1 week 1 day post op and my dr told me to take 40 mg of Prilosec daily (crushed dont swallow whole) to calm my tummy. It gurgles and makes sounds load enough for my dogs to hear. LOL
  23. 5 days post op I was on strict clear liquids only and not even protein drinks. I'm 8 days post op and was just cleared yesterday to do protein drinks and creamy soups. Nothing acidic like tomato soup though. I can barely manage a few teaspoons of creamy bean soup. My dr prescribed Prilosec (OTC) 40 mg daily for stomach acid. My tummy gurgles but I'm not hungry at all. I have to crush the pills and then mix with applesauce.
  24. I finally feel a little better. I saw my dr yesterday and he told me that all of my weakness, dizziness....is normal. He prescribed Prilosec for my tummy gurgling (I have to crush them for 2 more weeks) and said that after a few doses my tummy will be more receptive to creamy foods & drinks. I have been moved to creamy liquids, apple sauce, Protein shakes, creamed Soups, Beans...for week 2. He told me to build up to Proteins, drink slow but steady. My weight loss included 4 lbs lost between consult & surgery (1/21 to 2/25) So I'm down 24.4 (dr office weight fully dressed) 25 lbs (at home not dressed) But a loss is a loss!! I was 331 Pre op- 227 day of and 306.6 at his office I'm working on a banana cream flavored Protein shake right now. It's 11 oz and filling. I have no appetite at all and I'm not ever hungry so it's hard to drink because I'm full. I'm walking a bit (I have several autoimmune diseases and being off med's (some can not be crushed) has increased the daily difficulties of my life) but due to balance issues my walking is limited to inside (I lose balance & fall, I get numb and lose leg functions...) my neuro & rheumy along with my doctor have all said that once I can take my medicines again after 3 weeks that I will feel better and that I can worry about doing more walking then. He doesn't want me to fall on my tummy. Anyway I'm sipping all day, it's still hard to do an oz every 15 min because I'm super full. I have protein shakes, apple juice, Gatorade, water, ice chips, applesauce & popcicles on my menu today.
  25. Pure Protein Shakes, this one is banana cream flavor, it's kind of got an artificial aftertaste, but it has 35 G protein & 1 g carbs. I got it from amazon.com
