  1. I'm so excited, I just need to share with someone other than my poor husband that has to hear it all the time. Today I am 5 weeks and 1 day post op and when I got on the scale today it showed that I am down 41 pounds! My clothes are starting to get really baggy, but I am not ready to go clothes shopping yet. I feel energized by seeing that scale move down, it is showing that my hard work and dedication are paying off. I still have a long way to go, but I am on my way! Thanks for listening to me gloat!

    Onederland!

Congratulations! I can hardly wait until I can say the same! Awesome job!
  3. jason317, I am not a man, but I am a nurse. Few questions: Are you having any pain when you urinate? Are you noticing any foul odor or blood when you urinate? Do you have any history of prostate problems? If no to all of those questions I would say that you are most likely fine, keep drinking your fluid as you have been, if the problem continues call your doctor to have a urinalysis done. I was sleeved just over 4 weeks ago and have noticed that even though I drink atleast 2 liters a day that I do not urinate nearly as much as I used to, nor is the "stream" as flowing as it used to be. You are only 4 days out and there will be many fluid shifts in your body over the next week or so. I am assuming that things will improve, but like I said if not contact your doctor. Good luck! And Congratulations on a new begining!
  4. You look awesome! Congratulations!
  5. I am four weeks out and I am finding that I am cold most of the time as well. I will take that any day though over the constantly being hot and drippy with sweat!

    Heart burn

I am almost 4 weeks out and also am struggling with constant heartburn. I spoke to my surgeon about it and he suggested increasing the PPI to 2 times a day and that I could add an H2 blocker if needed. So far nothing is really helping, but from what my surgeon says it gets better. Good luck.
  7. This topic came up last night when I went to a support group. They said that you should wait several months because it can make your scars darker. If you keep them covered I would assume all would be fine. I am almost 3 weeks post op and I plan on starting to go to the tanning bed in about another 2 weeks, but I will be covering my abdomen.
  8. I am almost 3 weeks out since my sleeve was done. My surgeon had me wait to start my vitamins until I started the puree texture which was 2 weeks out. They have their patients use chewable vitamins for the first month and then they say it is ok to switch to pill forms. They say that if they are really big pills that you should break them in half if you can, but most things are fine. They also said that while you are using chewable vitamins to stay away from ones that are gummy. Currently I am able to swallow several medications without problems that are not chewable. Good luck!
  9. Glad that you are feeling better, as you said everyones body has slightly different fluid requirements. Guess you will have to step up your fluid intake a bit, but now you know what to look for. Good luck!
  10. Roxannez....have you had any vomiting episodes? I had my first one today, and I don't believe it was because I ate too much or too fast. I often have this feeling in the center of my chest like what ever food I just injested is sitting right there....I think I may have a stricture. Just curious if you have experienced anything like that?
  11. Roxannez.....congratulations! I am also just shy of 3 weeks out and have also lost about 30 lbs including the preop diet. Have you hit any little plateaus yet? I seem to be a little stuck already and find it frustrating. I too am a datawhore, I write down every bit of food/fluid that I put into my mouth. I am also walking about 4 miles a day as well.
  12. Driving is no problem as long as you are not taking any narcotics, as for the movie I think that should be fine. I was out shopping at Lowes with my husband two days post-op. Good luck!

    Anyone using a Fitbit?

I have a fitbit and love it! It is small and I can clip it on my bra and don't even notice it, but because it is so small I have to be careful not to loose it. I have almost thrown it in the wash a time or two because I forgot to unclip it from my bra.

    is bad breath normal

Ketosis is the culprit. I had my surgery 2 and 1/2 weeks ago and since I have advanced my diet to the soft/mushy foods it has gotten a bit better. I have also noticed that the more fluid that I drink the less offensive I feel my breath is.
  15. I am 16 days post-op, from everything that I have read the goal is at least 60-80 grams of protein a day. I have also read that as time goes on you should get in as much protein as possible and try to limit your carbs to less than half of the amount of protein that you take in. I have 2 protein shakes a day which equals 60 grams of protein and now that I have advanced to the soft/mushy foods I am finding that I am easily able to get in 80 grams a day.
  16. I had my sleeve done on January 31st, I am feeling almost normal now. I have lost 26.5 pounds total including the preop diet. I was wanting to start doing some light exercise like walking, but I have been advised not to until I am about 4-5 weeks postop. Has anyone else been told not to exercise?
