Elissa55 got a reaction from longlong10 in 5 days post op
The first few days I pushed a pillow on my back so I could sleep a little to my side but not so much on the incisions. I add a little Metamucil to my Water intake which also does triple duty with my dry Vitamins and crystal lite. This helps me not get constipated and the vitamins help me heal faster.

I am on day 6 of preop and emotional from day one. Having a really hard time staying on liquids but I am determined to stay on-I have thought the awful thoughts of cheating one meal but keep talking myself out of it:). May 15th is my surgery and mushy food can't come soon enough!

VBG disadvantages Needs strict patient compliance to diet. High fibre foods and foods with a more dense, natural consistency can become very difficult to eat, while highly refined foods cause little discomfort. Most people who regain any weight lost after surgery do so because choosing "healthier" foods are harder to digest, while "junk" food pass easily.

I have not had my sleeve yet but I didn't trip on anything Iggy said. Did it make me think again about the sleeve......Heck yeah! But isn't that what this forum is about-to help us be fully informed? Of course i hope and pray it doesnt happen to me, but we all take a chance when we decide to do this surgery. I appreciate knowing I can seek advice or help from some one who has stalls, depression from not losing, and most of all if I have a leak. I enjoy knowing people love their sleeve, but if I'm in a bad place I need to know someone can talk me though it..... So thanks to all for giving your success stories and for those who have had a hard time and helping others through their experience. God Bless You All......

    Hi everyone,
My name is Ellon. I had my band placed 8/25/2010 and did really well until it prolapsed in June. I went from 233 pounds pre lap band to a low of 160, while I was going through the diagnostics to figure out what was wrong. Once we knew, I had all of the Fluid removed and waited to see Dr. Paul Wizman in Wellington, FL. Dr. Wizman confirmed the need to remove the band and prepared me mentally that insurance would likely only approve replacing the band. I wanted a sleeve (from day one that's what I wanted but insurance would not cover it in 2010). Gwen, his coordinator, worked her magic, and BCBS approved the sleeve without delay. While I waited for surgery, I put 26 pounds back on and felt miserable. Surgery was 10/22 and as of this past Sunday, I am already down 15 pounds. I'm excited about my new lease on life. My only concern at this point is left shoulder pain that feels like nerve pain. At times I also feel nerve like pain in my left middle quadrant simultaneously. I'm learning that in an adult the whole diaphragm is innervated by the pair of phrenic nerves (C3, C4, and C5). From embryo to adult, "the growing diaphragm drags the phrenic nerves down from the cervical region to the thoracic region. Irritation to the diaphragm frequently presents as neck and shoulder pain due to facilitation in the cervical cord induced by the phrenic nerves." (my source of information is from cranialintelligence.com/2010/03/23/embryology-of-the-diaphragm) and from a neurosurgeon that I work with. If any of you out there are dealing with this but did not know why, I hope this helps.
