    Extended release anti-depressants

I was sleeved 2 years ago next month and about 3 months ago I switched from taking my Effexor and Wellbutrin twice a day and changed both to the extended time release. I've noticed that in these past 3 months my depression has increased greatly and I've been much more emotional than I normally am. I meet with my doctor next week and although I struggle to remember to take them twice a day; I'm going to go ahead and go back to it.

This is my before picture taken the day before surgery. I was at 300lbs here.
  8. I completely understand! I had my surgery back in February and I've lost a little over 100lbs. Like logically I know that I should be ecstatic and feeling on top of the world, but I am quite depressed and have anxiety. I NEVER thought that I would feel this way afterwards. It sounds silly, but I think I was more comfortable with the old me, then the new me. Most of the time, I can't stand to look at my body. I feel like it looks like everything is melting. I exercise, but I still have extra skin (which I knew was normal before surgery, but to actually have it happen is a whole different story) and my boobs are basically gone, lol. Another weird thing is that when I look in the mirror, I see my old body still. I don't see the smaller me, so I end up getting upset - thinking that I'm not doing enough. I talked to my family doctor about this the other day and she said it's actually common after the surgery. She's referring me to a psych that specializes in eating disorders/body image and depression (and we upped by anti-depressant). So...hopefully it'll get better. I'm hopeful that it will. I think that things just happen so fast physically, that it just doesn't give us enough time to adjust mentally, you know. Good luck to you and I hope things get better!! Thanks for sharing your story!

    Me after losing 85lbs!
  10. It sounds like we had our surgery at the same time. I had mine on Feb 6th and was on clear liquids the first two days afterwards, then was on full liquids for two weeks. After the first two weeks, I was allowed to start my phase 3 soft foods.
  11. Hi everyone, I had my surgery on February 6th and I'm worried about the amount of food I can get down okay. I keep reading about people only being able to eat a few bites of this or that or only being able to eat half of a pudding cup. I'm 11 days out and I can eat a whole yogurt or a whole sf pudding with no problem. I had a fan of Campbell's soup yesterday with half the can filled with skim milk and I almost ate the entire thing (except for a few bites), but was definitely full afterwards. I'm just worried that my sleeve is bigger than its supposed to be or something.

    Normal to eat this much?

I don't understand what I asked that was confusing. I was asking if the amounts that I was eating was normal or if it was too much. I've read people being able to eat the same amount and some people only being able to eat as little as 2 tablespoons. I don't normally sit down and eat a full can of soup. It happened once over a half or so period. My NUT, not my doctor (who is a great doctor by the way and one of the top in Michigan) is the one that gives me my nutrition info. She didn't specifically say what amounts I need to be eating for which liquids. Hence, why I was confused and reached out on here to see what I should do.

    Normal to eat this much?

Thank you all for the responses! I never really thought of measuring any of it out because I was just eating it from the cups they came in (sf pudding and yogurt). So is it normal that I can eat all of my sf pudding and yogurt? I will start measuring the soup out for sure. Especially because I usually do feel sick after eating it, which I'm guessing is because I'm eating too much of it at once. I'm trying to listen to my sleeve, but it's so hard trying to figure out when I have had enough and don't need more. Especially because I am still feeling weak and light headed sometimes, which makes me think I need to eat more. Thank you for all of your help you guys!

    Normal to eat this much?

Hi Kirk! Thanks for the response! I thought I was eating it slow, but according to my boyfriend I wolfed down that can of soup last night, lol. Could it be because I'm eating it to fast? I just thought it would make me sick. I know I definitely felt sick for about 20 minutes afterwards.
  15. I had my surgery earlier this month and had to get the shots during my stay (which due to some complications, I was there for 4 nights). Each time, they gave me mine on the upper outside of my thigh and honestly this pain that I've heard about hardly happened. It would burn for about 5 seconds and that was it. We would alternate legs for each shot. It's worth a try : )

Same thing happened to me! I had my surgery February 6th and started a few days before. The worst part is that I'm still on it!! It got worse after my surgery. Goodluck!
