  1. My doctors believe that I was hypothyroid due to eating non organic soy from a young age and having it as a diet staple. My thyroid is now basically normal since I discontinued GMO/non organic soy. I don't have any great links for you on the matter but ill be sure to ask my docs for sources next time I see them.

  2. Has anyone read about the dangers of non organic soy products. It apparent slows down your thyroid and other things. I've been a vegetarian for 13+ years and my surgeon just took me off of thyroid meds. I have been avoiding non organic soy for about 6 mos. just wondering if this is something the vegetarian community here has talked about.

  3. I'm 24 and hoping to have my surgery this summer too! My main concern is MY BOOBS *screams* I've always been top heavy' date=' a DD since I was 13...and I'm soooooo scared that they're going to just be flab and I'll need a lift! My tummy kinda concerns me too![/quote']

I've already got a piggy bank to save for my new boobs. I've always wanted them to be rounder and more perky, now I have an excuse for surgery once they turn into pancakes!

  4. Huge NSV today!! I got a new job at one of my favorite jewelry stores (yay!!) and the manager said my work wardrobe was too boring. I needed more personality (moi?? Gasp!!). Excuse to go SHOPPING! I usually hate shopping. There are no plus size stores in my town and I usually have to go 45 minutes away to find stylish clothes. I decided to try my luck in the plus size section at target to see if I could find anything that didn't resemble a sack. EVERYTHING THERE WAS TOO BIG ON ME!

I ventured to the regular sizes and tried on some really cute stuff in XXL and it all fit!!!!!!! I even got some stuff in XL!! It was the greatest feeling ever! I was in tears! I'm so excited to start dressing for work now.

I haven't been able to do this.... Ever! I'm loving my sleeve. I just wanted to share this NSV with everyone :D

  5. Thank you for bring so supportive you guys! He's definitely not taking it well and it's good to be reminded here that I did the right thing. I forget how young I am sometimes and forget to enjoy it. You all rock and are a fantastic support system! Xoxo!

  6. It's just time. We've been dating almost six months and since I made the decision to have surgery I've been having trouble picturing any kind of future with him. I also realized I want to enjoy my new emerging body! When I get attention form other men I want to enjoy it!!! He's also been shunning my health conscious ways and I fear he could be my downfall when it comes to this surgery.... I'm 6 weeks out and doing great.

Did anybody else feel this way? He's a good guy, just not right for me. Or the new me at least.

  7. Yes I went to pfcolombianjeans.com. I'm low BMi so I feel like if I wear compression garments through weightloss I may not have to deal with skin. I'm losing fast though... I just don't want to spend 200 bucks on something that won't fit me in a couple of months...

  8. I started heavily smoking when I was 15 and quit when I was 21 (recently). I went to nicotine anonymous, tried e-cigs etc. I finally knew I had to quit when I started planning the surgery. I didn't quit off the surgery, I wasn't at that stage yet. I just had a day when my mind and body said "enough". After a few days of cold turkey my willpower Got weak so I bought the nicorette Patches and they helped so much! I'm several months nicotine free and off of the Patches and i couldn't be happier. The cravings still come but if I deep breathe through them it isn't a miserable thing.

  9. Awww man I want one of these so bad.

One of those full body ones that hold in everything from boobs and back fat to your knees. I'm so worried about loose skin.

These are super expensive though. They look really nice and probably worth it.

  10. In a way, I kind of initially put this taco thread on the perv train (even though.... How can it not be when you're talking about eating taco...) so I apologize for the initial hijack.

Laura, I'm definitely a noob here and you've given me a LOT of great advice.

Can we all just be super happy for each others sleeves and support each other? Anybody? No? Ok :(

  11. I tried to cancel my surgery as they were getting ready to prep me. My mom, sister, and boyfriend would not let me. Id mentioned cancelling a few times before and they always talked it through with me and I always ended up being more sure than ever. I knew I was ready but I told the nurse taking my blood pressure that I was not ready and that I was going to cancel. The look she have me replaced an entire lecture... I'm sure she had heard it before and had practiced that look many times.

Needless to say I sucked it up and got sleeved and BOY am I happy about it! I was educated, ready, and rearin to go! I've never looked back.

  12. You will continue to get comments like that. I get them all of the time. Gotta let them roll off of your shoulders (easier said than done though).

My operation went swimmingly! Smooth and no complications as of yet. Do you have a surgery date?

Also, my surgeon and my orthopedic surgeon keep highlighting the fact that I'm going to have wayyyyy less issues with loose skin because of my age. Same goes for you!

  13. He wondered how she'd take it when he said goodbye.

Thought she might do some cryin': lose some sleep at night.

But he had no idea, when he hit the road,

That without him in her life, she'd let herself go.

Let herself go on a singles cruise,

To Vegas once, then to Honolulu.

Let herself go to New York City:

A week at the Spa; came back knocked-out pretty.

When he said he didn't love her no more, She let herself go.

Your boyfriends comment made me think of this. No, you don't take care of yourself like you used to. You're taking MUCH BETTER care of yourself.

Dump his butt and keep up the good work!

  14. I think you are so brave for taking such a big step so young in life! I'm 21 and just got sleeved 6 weeks ago. I've been fat my entire life and a major injury at age 12 put me in similar shoes you're in. Only you know what you need and what's right for you. One of the most common regrets I've seen is "I wish I had had WLS sooner". You won't have to worry about that. You're taking control NOW. good for you :D
