  1. I was sleeved on 7/29 with Eschette. Great guy stayed two nights in hospital and back to work on 8/6. Still working on getting fluids and Protein in' date=' but easier everyday. Good luck[/quote']

I was on june 18 and same doctor, going for 4 month appt this week, doing well, 349 Hw, 301 sw....and 251 as of last week....u love my sleeve, its work but i still love it....

  2. Hi guys. August 10th was three month mark. So here I go with the stats:

When I decided to have surgery my weight was 289

Surgery day 275 down 14 lbs

end of June weight 253 that made 22 pounds in a few weeks

end of July weight was 244 down another 9 lbs

end of August weight 234 down another 10 lbs

September 10 weight was 229 that means I am down another 5 lbs.

Total down from surgery is 46 lbs and total weight loss is 60 lbs.

I am now 5 lbs from my half way goal. YEAH!

Way to Go!!! Keep up the good work....:-)

  3. Found out what was causing the sudden burst of belching and also recently hard to get protien and fluids ...I posted this in the begining of the month...it was my CPAP setting...due to weight loss the pressure needed to be lowered.......lol....I still need it because I'm tired without it and still sound like train but a smaller train...my new tummy was getting to much air...lol

  4. Well thank you!! Yes I am a man 39 years old. Lol i started my journey two weeks before my surgery I was 420 at surgery I was 408. So since surgery I'm down 108. My surgery was June 24th. I will say I was always working out even before my surgery. I swim even then 1 mile in less than 40 minutes. I also did weight training with bike and elliptical work!!! I will share supplements if you need me to.

Wow that's wonderful....I would also like to know about the Protein, supplements and Vitamin as well.

  5. Blegh. Finally hit under 200 lbs' date=' went on vacation this week, and what do I do? Fall off the wagon! Feeling pretty disappointed in myself. I know better than this, but I went & hit the trifecta: slider foods, not tracking, and grazing!

Trying hard to get back on track today and not beat myself up about it, but it's hard. I'm used to self-sabotaging (kind of wondering if that's behind all this - I typically panic when I diet & get close to 200, self-sabotage, then give up. Only difference here is I broke 200 and am at 198). Also used to that old habit of berating myself for not being able to follow through on changing my habits, self-criticizing - you know the drill. All the mean things we say to ourselves.

Trying to think of some of the positive things I can take from this. Like - I learned that I feel crappy when I eat carbs and 'normal' when I eat Protein. I learned that although I can definitely eat a lot of carb-y slider foods, they definitely do not process well through my system, and being stopped up is not fun. I also learned that I do better when I am accountable; when no one is looking I get sneaky. Sneaky is not good. Sneaky makes me depressed and lonely and fat.

So....I am tracking on MFP again after largely ignoring it for 4 days. (I am zenandnow23 on MFP if you want to friend me and kick my a** in gear.)

I'm going to have my Premier shakes and Water today & try to get myself back in the Protein mindset. In other words, DETOX!!

And I am going to *try* not to be mean to myself for not doing so great over the past few days...but I gotta admit, I'm feeling pretty down.[/quote']

Amazing way to look at things..always remember we are all learning, and will have slips...picking oneself up without the Guilt and starting over is the key...

  6. With our sleeve we lost what are called parietal cells which secrete intrinsic factor. Intrinsic factor helps with the absorption of B12 in the stomach. That's why we have to take it sublingually.

B12 helps with brain and nerve function and the formation of blood. If you don't take it you will become anemic.

Thx u so much for explaining this to me. Question: Do u also know what folic acid is and what it does for the body? I have to take it also due to a med treatment for a type of RA I also have...

  7. morgan21' date=' I'm a month and a half out. Here's a bit of what it was for me in the first few weeks.

    1st week:

[*']Clear liquids for the first 3 days, then move to full liquids, then full liquids until day 14

[*]Very tired, and needed to take a nap most afternoons

[*]I did have a small amount of pain if I forgot and took too big of a swallow or went too quickly - in part due to the hiatal hernia repair that I had at the same time. I took pain meds in the evening and right before bed for the first 4 days, but was able to do just fine without them otherwise.

[*]I was able to get in most or all of my required liquids, but I was sipping all the time.

[*]Perfectly able to go out for little walks - I was getting around 7000 steps a day and even walked up the big hill in our neighborhood.

[*]No real feeling of restriction with clear or full liquids

[*]Came out of surgery 12 lbs heavier than when I went in - Boo! Seriously, though, it wasn't a big deal, and was gone by the end of the first 10 days.

    Second week:

[*]Full liquids - cream Soups, broths, whizzed up veggie Soup, Protein drinks, etc.

[*]Not so tired - I could have gone back to work at this point, but I would have been pretty exhausted in the evening so I'm glad I didn't! I did still took the occasional nap because it's good to get plenty of sleep while healing, but if I had something to do it wasn't a big deal to skip it. I had plenty of energy to walk around, as long as I paid attention - the energy would deplete pretty quickly if I pushed too hard.

[*]Still had some minor pain/discomfort, especially if I took in a little too much in a swallow, but it was quite manageable

[*]Still no real sense of restriction,

    Third week:

[*]Back to work - new job at new company, so no easing back into things! It went fine - this coincided with me starting soft foods, so I was having things like yogurt, cottage cheese and the like for lunch, and had enough energy to get through the day effectively.

[*]Speaking of starting soft foods - that's when I started finding my restriction. If I overate even a bite, I'd have this strange achy feeling in my shoulders (sort of like the post-surgery anesthetic gas issue, but more so). If I pushed it at all I'd also get a nasty pain right below my breastbone. Guess what I didn't do anymore after that happened a couple of times! I started to realize that I would have a tiny burp and then a little hiccup when I was full.

[*]I still had some discomfort until almost the end of my third week, but it wasn't that bad - maybe a 2 or 3 on a scale of 1-10. By the end of the week, that had finally disappeared.

I'm now a month and a half out, and on normal foods. I've learned my limits and rarely get discomfort. I can eat 1-2 oz of dense Protein, plus a few small bites of something on the side. I do still use protein shakes for Breakfast or an occasional mid-afternoon snack, but my surgeon and my NUT are both okay with that as long as it's not because I *can't* eat and as long as I have "real" food for lunch and dinner. I've even eaten out at restaurants - my husband and I share a plate, or I order something appropriate from the appetizer menu. I've just resumed my gym membership and started working with a trainer once a month to keep me on track.

I have been through two stalls - both about a week long, but noticeable if you are a data junkie and weigh yourself all the time :P If you would be bothered at watching the scale bouncing up and down a pound or two for a week or two, then don't weigh all the time. I am not more than mildly annoyed by it and knew to expect it, so I just roll my eyes and make sure I'm getting adequate protein, liquids, sleep and some exercise. If I only weighed once or twice a month I'd never know the stall had happened, honestly.

    Good luck!

Very informative!!!!...very close to how i felt, if u had mention the bowel issues which is the only thing i didnt see u will gas me all the way...nothing in sure makes a problem with something being able to come out...:-(

  8. I need some help/information please. I haven't taken meds for 3 weeks now due t the surgery. I have been doing GREAT so far' date=' but seem to be deteriorating a bit over the last few days. Constantly light headed, exhausted, and need to lie down all the time. I have less energy at 14 days out than I did 2 days after being sleeved.

My husband says this happened to me the last time I was off my RA meds. Do you think this is possible? Do you start to get light headed and tired if you go off the meds, or right before a flare up? I'm really worried today. :([/quote']

I did, but recently started feeling like that, and then a flare up started...had been off meds since may, had surgery in june..i start my injection last week cause doctor switch me from pills to a shot once a week. Im still tires, but hopefully it will be better after a few shots..
