    New Findings

Hello All, It's been a minute since I was last on the site so I thought I would stop in and share my progress and latest discoveries. I'm now 4 months post-op and have lost about 50 pounds. I've been averaging about 2 pounds a week and so far any stalls I've encountered have not lasted longer than 2 weeks. The hair shedding started promptly at the 3 month point. Even though I knew it was coming, to visually see the amount of hair during washing raised my anxiety level. I was already taking 10mcg of Biotin but a friend suggested I add Zinc and I ramped up my Protein intake to about 90g. I'm not sure if it's made a difference but the shedding has definitely slowed, not as much in the comb, sink or on the floor. Because I get tired of Protein Shakes, I'm always looking for new products to try. Here are a few of my new favorites that I use as Snacks in between regular meals or on the go: OhYeah! protein bar(Chocolate &Caramel tasted like a Snickers to me) - 190 cal, 15g protein, 4g sugar, 8g fat Pure Protein Bar (Chocolate Peanut Butter) - 200 cal, 20g protein, 2g sugar, 6g fat NEW whey Liquid Protein (grape, fruit punch) - 42g protein, 0 sugar, 0 fat (this product I found at GNC and comes in a 3.8 oz vial) I usually have to cut the taste with Water. Like it better than Isopure. Everyone keep up the good work! In the words of a local personal trainer, "Let the mind, not the mirror, be the judge"

    Well I'm a slow loser

Please don't be hard on yourself. Every person's body is different and reacts differently. I only lost 5 lbs during my 2 wk pre-op diet. Where as there are members on here who lost well over that. But over the years of yo-yo diests, I know my body and how it reacts when calorie intact is restricted. It goes into survival mode and holds onto EVERY possible pound. Being at my 3 mth mark post-op, I'm now losing 1-2 lbs a week. I'm ok with that. What's that old addage?...."Slow & steady wins the race". Hang in there and be patient not only with yourself but your body.

My hair is considered fine and I also perm every 6 weeks. Being 3 mths out I've noticed slightly more shedding than usual combined with some breakage. I've been trying to limit the amount of heat being applied. While wandering the Target aisles on Saturday, I found "Fall Out" by Garnier Fructis. I purchased the Shampoo, Conditioner and Anti-Breaking Spray. It wasn't too expensive so if it ends up not working I won't be out too much money. I've also been taking 10,000 mg / day of Biotin since about 6 wks after surgery. I wanted to make sure I could tolerate taking pills. But they are so tiny it is hardly noticeable with swallowed.

Howdy Neighbor! I have family in Gboro. You will be just fine. I came upon this website several months before I was even scheduled for surgery and found reading the different threads to be very insightful. As MrzSongbird stated, follow the instructions of your health professionals and definitely listen to your body. Every person is different and everyone's body responds in a different way.

Greetings & Salutations from NC!! As of today, I am 11 wks post-op. To the individual who was concerned about constipation, I've been adding Miralax powder to my hot tea in order to help keep things "moving along".
