    So tired!

I have had pretty good energy since the surgery. Tomorrow will be the big test, as I return to work. My doctor's protocol includes a very strict pre-op diet that is caffeine free. Thankfully I followed that and got my caffeine crash over before surgery or it would have been so much worse.

  4. Yeah, I can see why he would be insecure. He probably just needs a little reassurance that he will still be enough or you!

    3 month photos / 50lb loss

    You look amazing! Great job!!!
  7. I heard a statistic recently that 80% of those who are married and get a gastric bypass will get divorced. Granted, different surgery, same results. It really made me think. For me, my husband is amazing and he loved me through everything...for 21 years! I will fight like heck to not be that statistic!

i want sex now now now

I am married to a man with an Adonis body. He is so fit and so freaking hot. Everyday for the past 21 years of marriage he has made me feel beautiful. He is the reason I have had a high sex drive, even at my highest!

    Flat Sodas

  12. I get weird pains. Like I will have an ache near an incision site, and it will last a couple hours...then move. So weird.
  13. I had a severe burning sensation bear one of my incisions. Oh my goodness. It hurt so bad. I had a week post op appointment to follow up with my doc the next day, thankfully. She thought I might have a hernia and sent me to a CT scan. Thankfully it wasn't. I had just pulled some muscles with a possible tear. I felt much better within a few days!

    Self Pay Questions!

I had my sleeve here in the US! It was 100% covered by my insurance. But let me start by saying, Mexico is one of my favorite places to vacation! Fear of Mexico, truly boils down to be uneducated about this country about it. Yes, God knows many of the border towns are dangerous. However, you can't get much safer that the tourist- resort areas. How many people would travel to these areas if there were tourist constantly being abducted? Not many. The government of Mexico has a much higher police presence in the resort areas. That includes every one of the towns I have heard mentioned as a place with these sleeve centers. Concern with using a Mexican facility/surgeon should be centered around the difference in health care standards. Mexico doesn't have the same standards as we do in the US/Canada as far as country wide regulation. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean that certain facilities can't have the same standards as we do! The MX practices that are successful are using the same standards as we do, and the people are getting way more for what they are paying for down there. These centers' target customers are people from outside of Mexico. These doctors have to align with the US/Canada standards to be successful! The facilities that aren't up to par, are discussed frequently on this board. The reason people take it personal when someone posts on here negative things about going to Mexico, is because everyone is invested in this decision. None of us woke up one morning and drove to the hospital to have this procedure without a lot of research, thought and emotion. Don't slam someone else's decision because you don't understand how they made it. If Mexico isn't an option for you - cool. No shame in that. But making comments to imply people are crazy for considering it? That is inconsiderate. Good for those who did what they needed to do to take care of themselves!

    Leaning toward a sleeve

A lot of surgeons inflate your abdomen with gas during surgery so that they can get around easier during the surgery. It takes awhile for the gas to go away, because it isn't in your digestive tract. It is actually in your torso cavity. It is really uncomfortable. That is awesome that you are down 5 lbs. Good for you!!! Regarding protein...I have had challenges with it. The Protein Shakes make me feel weird...shaky and weak. I saw someone else describe it as hypoglycemic. The one that makes me feel the least bad is Atkin's. the ones that are pre-made. I get them at Wal-Mart. 4 of them are around $5. The mocha chocolate one is pretty good. They have 15 grams of protein in them and only 2 carbs. My doctor didn't let me have protein until I was 1 week out. So if you have issues, don't be discouraged. I need to find some that is higher in protein. I have been reading a lot about the different options, but haven't made it past that.

    Leaning toward a sleeve

NYPrincess - I don't think many people talk about it, because to have that much pain is not the usual! I hope you start feeling better soon girl! The worst part of surgery for me as the CO2 gas. That was pretty miserable. Now, just shy of two weeks out...from my perspective it was totally worth it all. I have lost 31 pounds total since the day I started my 10 day pre-op diet. I have lost 13 pounds since the surgery. For the first time in my life, I feel like I am in control of what I eat.
