    First Restaurant Experience And When?!

Dreamscometrue, If you are on soft foods, you may be able to eat some fish or some of the ricotta cheese from lasagna. Just make sure you follow your doctor's rules for the phase you are in at the time. If you can't eat anything, then as Laura said, "you can say your stomach is upset." Good luck with your surgery, and am happy you got it scheduled while you still have coverage.

Low BMI 35 From Band to Sleeve

Hello, I had my lap band removed on 10/25/13 and the sleeve performed in the same procedure. I feel so much better. I don't have the food getting stuck feeling I had with the band. Having had wls before makes you aware of what full feels like. You are familiar with chewing food, taking small sips and not drinking before and after meals. I am now 60 pounds from my goal. I have not had one instance of heart burn since my sleeve surgery. My last 3 years plus were nothing but this even on prescription meds. My doctor told me it should go away when the band was removed, and he was correct. I got down to 170 with my band and was back up to 210 212 by surgery time. My band was unfilled in August 2013 and only gained 5 to 6 pounds during that time. Congrats. I'm sure you'll do fine. Good luck to you.
  3. I just was sleeved in October 2013. I had a bravo chip endo in August and a manometry test the following week. If I were you I would reschedule these tests to help find an answer. The manometry test is not pleasant but tolerable. Worst part for me was getting the tube past my swollen sinus cavities. The results from my two tests were helpful in getting the insurance company to approve my surgery early. I had one spasm with my esophagus after surgery and that was 4 days post op when I swallowed a pill I had not cut up small enough. You are correct, it did hurt a lot.

    November fitness challenge

It was 78 here in STL with lots of storms and wind. One minute sunny, next minute 50 hour winds, rain storms and 5 minutes later clear. Last weekend it was almost 70 Sunday and by Monday evening in the 30s and same on Tuesday and back to 50. I have a cold now came on Thursday so only got 3.5 miles in fo rthe week. This past week was my first week back to work full-time and wore me out more than I thought it would. I should be able to make my goal by the end of the month.

    Lap Band To Sleeve

I was banded in July '07. I never found the "sweet spot" with the band. In order for me to feel full my band wound up being overfilled. I would throw up a lot because food got stuck. This caused esophogeal dialation and my pouch to become distended. The vomiting caused my band to become prolapsed. Once the band prolapsed it caused me severe heartburn requiring me to be on prescription medicines for over three years. Medical tests I had performed earlier this year revealed the position on the band was interfering with my esophagus. I had my band unfilled in August of this year. On October 25th, I had my lap band removed and the sleeve performed. Since that time, I have had zero heartburn and doing great. I never lost all the weight wI wanted to lose with the band either. By lapband standards I was considered a success because I had lost 50% of my excess weight.
  8. Down 15 pounds pounds since surgery on 10/25.

    Band Out Tomorrow

Hi mumoftwo, I am a recent band to sleeve revision patient. I had my lapband put in July '07 and started having problems a couple of years later. I never found "the sweet spot" with it. In August of this year my band was unfilled so it was only taking up space in me at that time. I had my band removed and the sleeve performed on 10/25/13. During this period I was able to stay within 6 pounds. You can do it. Good luck to you on your band removal and upcoming sleeve surgery.

gamegirl, I specifically remember you saying if you were in pain, you were going to take it easy. If you don't make 60, it's not the end of the world. You're not going to turn into a pumpking or something horrible. I'd rather you do what you can and not hurt yourself. If you hurt yourself, you'll be out even longer. Exercise hard when you are up to it. Listen to your body. There are many tomorrows. If you go the full 60, you have 38.25 miles to complete with 17 days left as of the 14th. You will need to average 2 1/4 miles a day. I did the math for you this time. I think you have done enough math for others in your other post. :-)

    Getting Nervous

It is perfectly to be nervous this close to surgery. You are anxious to have it done since it is so close, and also nervous because it is an unknown for you at this point. You know your life is about to change and it will be forever. I wrote down the exact reasons I had the surgery in case afterwards I was having a case of regret. Putting it all in writing also helped put my mind at ease that I was making the right choice. I was a revision lap band to sleeve on 10/25/13 and I have not had any problems at all including pain from the CO2 gas and nausea. Good luck to all with your upcoming surgeries.

Good to hear from you. Glad you're doing well! Please tell me what it's been like for you, so I'll know what to expect next week.

  15. Hi Alex, love the site but have a couple suggestions or ideas (they are all related). I think that when you press forum home it should take you to the general weight loss area and not lapband area. When you leave chat, don't have it take you to the lapband forum. Chat available on phone app. Awesome.

    Remove threads from current page?

Hi Megan, Go up to the upper right hand corner where you see you profile name. Click on the drop down arrow by your name You should see an option for content I follow Click on it This should take you to the content and then click the option for toggle edit items and you can select the items you no longer want to follow Once selected at the bottom of the page there is a drop down menu, select the option Stop following. Click update selected and that should take care of it for you.
  18. Will there still be a chat room? If so, is for all wls or still a separate area for each type of surgery? The changes sound interesting.

    November fitness challenge

Gamegirl, Haven't you heard of the surgery of the month club? Lol. I had this one originally scheduled in September and it had to be cancelled. I had to get my sleeve surgery and another doctor's visit taken care of before this one could happen. Last week my social calendar revolved around seeing doctors. After tomorrow, I don't have a scheduled doctor appointment until November 19th. Thanks, Rita

    November fitness challenge

I got in 3.2 miles of bike riding today. I thought good for 9 days post-op. I really wanted to get in one more ride. My ride today will probably be my last ride of 2013. After surgery tomorrow I am restricted from riding for 6 weeks, and unsure how the weather will be after 12/16 release date. Any rides after that date will be restricted to weekends and holidays since it is dark by the time I get home from work. I start my walking program later this week. Depends on how I feel after tomorrow's surgery.

    but.. I'm thirsty!

You get used to it and it becomes automatic. Earlier this year I had the Fluid taken out of my lap band and had to do a test for a couple days. Thank goodness I read all the directions because one of the first things it said was drink with your meals. I had become so accustomed to not drinking with meals that I had to make sure I followed the directions and drank. The main purpose behind not drinking especially afterwards is that it washes out the food sooner so you feel hungry. You can do it.
  23. 1 week post-op and feeling great.
