  1. Darn those Slim-Fast people for putting iodine in their product!
  2. Where did you buy the demitasse spoon & fork set at, if you don't mind my asking? I saw one somewhere before and didn't save the link. Googling it just brings up the spoon/saucer combo.
  3. It is soooo nice to see that I'm not alone on this 200+ lbs to lose journey! My surgery date is April 8th, and I'm counting down the days. It can't come soon enough. I say that but I keep alternating between ecstatic and terrified. Ahh, the confusion!
  4. Not sure if it is the kind of milk bth he is talking about or not, but you can buy milk bath in the bath section of Walmart and Target, next to like the bath beads and whatnot, I have some. It's powdered and in a blue sealable bag. It makes your skin nice and soft.
  5. Aside from a food scale and measuring cups, have y'all seen any other tools that might be useful post-op? Today the Hubs and I went shopping and I was amazed to see how much a measuring cup of 1/4 cup of food is. Crazy! I'm planning to get a magic bullet a couple of weeks after surgery. I've heard mixed reviews, though so I'm not completely sold. Have any experience with those?
  6. You can also order samples of Matrix (mint cookie, cookies and cream, etc) from MyBariatricPantry.com. If you have any food allergies then you may want to be careful about which ones you buy, as most powders are processed on the same equipments as some of the top food allergens.
  7. Laughed so hard at this thread title. None for me, thanks, as I'm allergic to shellfish, but thanks for the giggle at the hot CRAP.
  8. I assume they will take blood to ensure they have my type on hand just in case, God-forbid, there be a situation that occurs during/after the surgery that requires a transfusion. I've already had a chest x-ray and EKG. What other testing did y'all have to have done in the days before your surgery at your *final* pre-op appt?
  9. What kind of broths did you drink post-op? That's kind of a dumb question, I know. Just wondering if you cracked open cans/containers of organic low-sodium chicken/beef/veggie broth, poured it into mugs, nuked and then drank, or if we're supposed to go the bouillon route and mixed the powdered stuff with warm/hot Water. I've got three weeks of a post-op liquid diet - Clear Liquids - so I'm trying to get a little creative here. Err, as creative as one can get with broth.
  10. Haha, ok, that is great news! I'm still pre-op (scheduled for April 8th) and was freaking out for a minute.
  11. Holy crap! You got 56 incisions? Please tell me that is a typo. hehe
  12. I'm going to add you. I'm getting sleeve on April 8th and will be on Clear Liquids for three weeks so if love to see what you're doing for fluids.
  13. Please don't be scared! The worst part for me was recovering from the 32+ hrs of back labor. The csection pain was slim to none.
  14. Excited for you! Who is your surgeon?
  15. My surgeon requires that I can have nothing thicker than milk for the first three weeks after surgery.
  16. Hey all, I'm just curious to see what everyone is doing to get prepared for the surgery. So far all I've done is arrange childcare for my 2 year old son. My mother is coming in from out of state to help me take care of him during the daytime while my husband is at work for the first six weeks after surgery. Oh, and I've ordered Protein Powder samples to get myself aquainted with the good flavors, as well as to know what to buy for my pre-op diet that starts on March 25th. Other things I need to do: - Go grocery shopping a day or two before surgery to make sure my family has food and that I have what I'll need post-op - Sample all the Protein powders trial-sizes I've bought and settled on a couple of flavors both for my pre & post-op diets - Schedule my pre-op appt w/ the hospital I'm being sleeved at I'm still thinking the rest of this through as far as things I need to do. What about y'all? Any ideas on to-do's before surgery?
  17. April 8th, for me. I go from being ecstatic to terrified.

  19. I'm not sleeved yet, but I picked up a bottle of the Jergens one at Walgreens or like $5.00 last week. You can buy it on their site cheaper. I think I saw it there for like $3.00 a couple of days ago.
  20. MrsPiggleWiggle, I'm going to add you, if that's ok. We can be sleeve buddies!
  21. Yep, pretty much. Before I left my surgeon's office for my consult, I asked the insurance coordinator, "So, basically how quickly I have this surgery depends on how pro-active I am with scheduling my appointments?" and she said, "Yep, exactly!" So, a lot of it all depends on how fast you start and continue to keep the bariatric ball rollin'. Do you know what your insurance requires yet?
  22. I'm a Dr. Nick patient too! I haven't got the *actual* guidelines from him yet, but I seem to remember hearing somewhere that his pre-op diet was like two shakes a day and then a lean dinner (like the one you mentioned), but that you could also have a bar (or two) for snack if you felt hungry. Don't hold me to that, but I do remember hearing that somewhere. Good luck! I'm going to add you as a friend if that's ok. I'm being sleeved on April 8th.
  23. My process was a bit different. I verified that my insurance benefits covers WLS, then I scheduled an appointment with a surgeon that I felt is very reputable. My first appointment with him was on February 1st, where I was given by his staff a list of pre-op requirements from my insurance. The requirements consisted of one appointment with a nutritionist, a psychological evaluation, and clearance from my pcp. All of this was on a Friday. The next week, I had my pcp tests done on Monday, my nutritionist consult on Tuesday, and my psych eval on Thursday. The insurance coordinator sent all my info to my insurance company the next Monday and I was approved this past Monday. My surgeon's office wanted to schedule me for March 4th, but I went ahead and went with April 8th, as March 4th would've only made 31 days since I started the entire process and wouldn't have given me enough time to do what I need to do. I have a 2 year old son so my mom is traveling from out of state to help care for him for a month while I recover. My husband is taking off the first week so we'll have an extra set of hands. It can happen very quickly. I wish I would've known to have been completely prepared sooner.
