It's a separate group that shows up under the "Groups" section when you're logged into your facebook. It's separate from your newsfeed and personal facebook profile. None of your family and friends can see it. Only members of the group can see it. And, in order to be a member, you have to be added by a moderator. Because it is a "Secret" group, it doesn't show up in any searches. No one can see anything unless they are in the group. Most of our members are keeping their surgeries secret from the majority of their family & friends. It's a totally safe support group.

It is indeed a private group. No one on your facebook friend's list will be able to see anything. I'm not telling people about my surgery either, so I understand the importance of privacy. If you'd like to join, please send me your e-mail address associated with your facebook account and I'll add ya.

I have severe GERD. Both my pcp and surgeon have told me that 90% of patients with reflux have it resolved after the sleeve, but that there is a 5% chance it'll get worse and a 5% chance that it'll get better but not completely go away. I figure a 95% chance of improvement is better than nothing at all, especially if the GERD is caused from being overweight to begin with.
