CharmingTortoise got a reaction from dvmp61 in Can someone explain this to me...?
I wonder if she meant because you don't have as much as some folks have to lose? Like you don't need to lose 250 pounds. I'm curious because I am kind of close to your height and weight.
There are some great online BMI calculators. This is the one I always use http://nhlbisupport.com/bmi/bminojs.htm.

Once you get used to being a night time mushroom you'll be fine. Instead of using the Breakfast, lunch, dinner and Snacks food logs I break mine out to Midnight to 6am, 6am to Noon, Noon to 6pm and 6pm to Midnight. It's much easier for me than trying to figure out what should be dinner and what should be breakfast and is a shake a snack or a meal? lol I'm with BusyBeingMe - I keep (almost) the same schedule when I'm working and when I have days off. It has really made working nights a lot easier for me. I've been working nights almost all of my adult life though.

I'm also getting sleeved on August 19. I'm having mine done here in Northern Michigan by Dr. Nagle. I'd love to be surgery buddies. Do you have to travel far for your surgery?

I'm so sorry to hear that you had a melt down. I hear things can be a little rough sometimes. I'm only 4 weeks out so I know my time is coming.
How exciting for you that you didn't turn to food in your need of comfort. That is really great. You are absolutely correct that you have come a long way in your journey. I only can hope that I'm as strong as you are when my time comes.
    Hugs from across the miles.

Today is my 36th birthday and for the first time in 30 years I am not overweight. I started my WLS journey 1-1-12 (surgery 2-14-12) and since then I have lost an entire person. I started at 335# and a size 28. Today I am 160# and a size 8. I am 20# below my surgical goal. It is a very shocking transformation and I still have a hard time wrapping my mind around it. I am less than half the weight I started out at and wear about 1/4 the size clothes. Mindboggling. I don't even recognize myself, let alone people that haven't seen me in awhile. I don't plan to try to lose any more because I am getting way too bony. I am in the process of trying to have plastic surgery though. I believe when that is done I will be a size 6..possibly even a 4/6. Unbelievable. I am a large framed woman and never would have believed it was possible for me to be this small. A 16 was my goal because it was the smallest I could ever remember being.

I think you have already gotten some great advise (and some really rude, insensitive feedback). Get back to basics, track everything you put in your mouth, and consider seeking out a support group. This surgery is a life's worth of hard an learning but you can do it. We will all have struggles and setbacks along the way but define yourself by how you pick yourself back up.

My theory on all things in life is that it is not the mistakes we make that define us but the way we recover from those mistakes. I think it was a very strong step for you to post your mistake on the internet for all to see your mistakes and your dedication to do your best to fix it, especially knowing there will always be people who will try to judge you but your own opinion is the most important one. Sounds like you already know what you are doing wrong, now you just need to find the solution that works for you. Not everyone is created the same so the same solutions don't work for everyone. I will say that as you are getting further out you may need to consider increasing your daily calorie intake to find what makes you satisfied but continues your weight loss at the pace you are looking for. I personally recently increased my daily calories from around 900 to around 1200 and also doubled my daily Protein from 70 to 140, as a result my weight loss actually sped up. It is also important to realize if you are exercising a lot you may actually need some carbohydrates, try finding the best quality carbs you can. No matter what try not to let yourself get discouraged, remember why you started your journey and use that same motivation to help get you back on track. Good Luck.

You are five days out, so no, you do not get it.
You are absolutely correct about your ability to eat less resulting in weight loss. Unfortunately, that goes away. The farther out you get, the more you can eat and the more of a variety you can eat. Slider foods don't stick and you can/will find yourself grazing all day, consuming far more calories than you should, hindering weight loss.
I remember sitting where you are knowing I would NEVER be able to eat much again. I was wrong.

I am almost four months out as well and I've hit a few rough Patches. I found that when I do not take my acid blocker, I am "starving" all day. It's the acid talking. As soon as I take one, I feel much better and the cravings are much more manageable. Are you taking a PPI?
Are you tracking everything you eat on something like myfitnesspal? Are you pre-planning meals? Most importantly, are you eating the same things over and over or are you finding new, more interesting things to eat? Are you getting in all your fluids and Protein?
I find that when I go back to the basics of Protein first, veggies next, complex carbs last, I rarely get to the carbs. When I eat the protein first, I am fuller faster and longer.
Plan, track, explore dietary options and follow your nutritional guidelines. You can get back on track.

I did not post that looking for "permission" to eat junk. I was sharing my struggle and hoping for some encouragement to get back on track. And partly I was posting just to be accountable to myself by making it public. I was being honest.
I really find that there is a lot of negativity and judgement on this forum.
The best advice I've gotten so far was the suggestion about a therapist. The rest is just nasty and judgmental. And to the person who said "stop eating ****"... You are about 4 days out, right? I hope for your sake you don't struggle like I am at 4 months, but at 4 days food made me sick. That changes over time and it does get harder. I'm not making excuses for my choices. Just being real and looking for some help.

You can't take back what you've already done, so the only way to go is forward, recommit to making right choices and if you have junk in the house you should not eat, get rid of it. You can do this!

Get a personal trainer who is willing to kick your ass to make you do right. I'm saying this in my most compassionate voice - I'm not trying to be rude or mean. If you want to get the weight off you need to make the right choices and put in the work. Of course, I can say that because I'm pre-op. I may face the same struggle. Just do the right thing for yourself!!!!! The REAL right thing!!!

So I'm almost two weeks or from my sleeve and realized that when I would want to do something with friends or always seemed to revolve around food. We'd either meet for lunch, or dinner, or drinks, or Desserts. This isn't really an option at all, for now. Concerts in my area are few and far between and movies just really don't appeal to me. We've done walking at some different locations. Anybody have any ideas for other friend outings that don't involve food?

I'm not sure eating McDonalds 7 days out is smart regardless of the calorie content of what you choose. Do they serve apple sauce?

Just me, but I would have told them "eff to the no!" on McDonald's. But that's just me. A month in according to my given meal plan would mean absolutely nothing from McDonald's except their bottled Water. I would think fried anything would absolutely kill your stomach at this point. It really hasn't even healed completely by that point. I'd hold off on the fast food, indefinitely!

Well, although the previous post entry was in the wrong post - you gotta admit its funny - If your are constipated:
We know when it's Gods will.....it's gonna be done!!!!
And you can count on that.
    But more on point....
I think I recall have a very cyclical time as well. Good week, bad week. Although my cycles were shorter - a few good days and a few bad days. To be honest the bad days became less and eventually went away - I was tracking my food pretty carefully back then and did see some foods that for no obvious reasons seemed to be triggers for bad days - (like chicken Soup - who thought that one coul be bad) Tomato sauce (acidic?) aslo gave me problems. I did not have much Constipation at all and never bad - when you eat less, you go less, and I would just notice I was feeling a bit full and then think back and notice it was a few days - but over the counter stuff worked just fine for me.
I am not sure that the constipation and the present distaste for food are necessarily connected. Could be, might not be. If your constipation was real bad your body migght just be saying it is not interested in that ride again for a while - remember though you have to keep your Protein and Vitamins up. I used Protein additives that I added to iced tea to make sure I was still getting - if not my recomended number at least a really good portion of it. I bought these tube looking things at the Vitamin Shoppe that have 37-55 grams of protein - they are fruit flavored (I am a blue rasberry guy).
If you are having serious pain and very regular constipation I would check in with the doc. This procedure is fraught with all kinds of discomfort and minor pain, but any time you are experiencing real pain, you should at least call and see what the doc says - lord knows you paid them enough, they are still "on call" for a good long while.
    Good luck.
