    A Pleasant Realization . . .

That was weird. I just dreamed about this thread! I woke up at 6 this morning and stayed up until nine. So of course, I had to go back to bed and take a nap! =) Anyway, while I was sleeping I dreamed that I gave away all of my spring and summer clothes and my Mom (who in real life is super supportive of me) kept saying, "Gibson, you'd better think twice about that. What if you can't have the surgery for some reason?" lol I was so exhilarated in my dream!
  2. I'm pretty much obsessed with School House Rock. I mean, I know everyone LIKES School House Rock, but I like it so much that when I get depressed I put in the videos and they pull me out of my funk every time.
  3. This literally made me laugh out loud! :clap2:

Come Backs to Weight Loss Questions

Oh yeah, this is definitely my favorite. =)

    Being debanded help! terrified!

My mother is terrified of anesthesia, so much so that the last time she had surgery she grabbed the anesthesiologist and said, "Please don't let me die or I'll split hell wide open!" Well, needless to say that freaked the doctor out and when it was all said and done he said he took extra special care with her because she had scared HIM! Please, tell your doctor about your fears and maybe they can help you by either assuring you with facts or, my personal favorite, giving you extra drugs! *hugs*

    Kentucky, "who's your Doctor"

Hello fellow Kentuckians! I'm jumping through hoops with Dr. Tompkins and Kings Daughters right now. I have Humana insurance and I'm wondering how hard it is to get approved with them? I've dotted all my i's and crossed all my t's paperwork and doctor visit wise but I'm worried that they'll refuse the surgery if I haven't lost any weight pre-op. I'm having trouble losing. (Big surprise there, right?)

    Frustrating Dr's visit

That would totally piss me off, too. I hope and pray that my surgeon doesn't have that written in policy. I'll have to check in to that. Is there anyway they can check your restriction under fluoro because I've read of cases here where people have lost a lot of weight through sheer willpower and their doctors didn't want to give them fills so they insisted on being tested and they had no restriction. Sometimes the surgeons would give them fills anyway. Just a thought.

    I need some guidance.

You've lost 55 pounds, that is definitely not a waste! Just think, without the band you could have GAINED 55 pounds this year! Just start over following the rules I'm sure you already know and if you need a fill take time for yourself and get one no matter how busy your life is! You'll love yourself for it.

A hurtful comment from a close friend

Maybe she meant it in a joking way? My best friend and I spend 85% of our conversational time talking about how fat we are so I'm sure weird things will happen to our friendship if I am banded and start losing the weight. I know that our friendship is strong enough to handle it but it will be weird at times. I love my best friend more than I love my family and I would be thrilled for her if she lost a bunch of weight. HOWEVER, I am honest enough to say that I'd also be jealous as hell even though I love her.

    Was it just me??

I'm mostly a lurker and I was still feeling withdrawal symptoms!

Ok, so maybe I'm a weirdo but your post gave me cold chills! How thrilling! Oh gosh, I guess it's possible that I'm finished with my super jumbo spring and summer clothes since I'll be banded in Jan. or Feb.! WOW!!!!

    Really bummed

How disappointing for you! I hope that everything is OK and you get a quick go ahead!

    Freeeezing..what does it mean?

I lost 70 pounds once years ago and I was freezing all the time. I'm actually looking forward to that part of my banded life because my boyfriend and I are constantly in a thermostat battle because I keep things too cold for him and he keeps things too hot for me.

    10cc instead of AP..I'm pissed!

Wow. I would be hugely disappointed too AND FURIOUS. Just try to focus on recovering now and worry about the "what they owe you" part after you feel better. I'd just hate you to add stress to an already EXTREMELY stressful adjustment period. *hugs*

What do you think of this?

    Very becoming!

    Weird NSV

That is so exciting! One of my sad little fantasies in life is to throw away all my bras and panties and socks and buy all new!! I knew I needed to get serious about weight loss when my granny panties started getting TOO TIGHT!

    Need help... daughter 16 & 300lbs

What a profound post. That is exactly how I feel about my life now and I haven't been banded yet. When I was 16 I weighed 250 pounds. Now I'm 37 and weigh 330 and as insubordination so eloquently put it, my life has been a "tragic waste of potential." Over half of my life has been wasted and if I could go back in time and have the band when I was in high school I would do it. I'm glad you are supporting your daughter's decision and hope to see her on the boards soon!
  24. So many of you lost weight and now you are stunning and beautiful and well....many of you were beautiful before too so I guess I would have hated you when you were fat too. :heh: My point is that even if (and when) I lose weight, I'm still going to have an ugly face and that TICKS ME OFF!!!! I want to be pretty for once in my life, dammit!!!!! :tired Does anyone else out there feel the way I do? I know I'll be healthier and better able to move and blah, blah, blah but geez...it sure would be nice to look in the mirror and be happy when all of this is over. (Disclaimer: I don't actually hate any of you for being pretty. All of my best friends are super model pretty. Life's a bitch, isn't it?) :biggrin1:
