  1. Just wondering if any of the Arizona Sleevers have Cigna ? If so have long did it take to get approved. I am hoping that I will be able to get my surgery before Thanksgiving but would prefer closer to Veterans day. Any suggestions on how I can speed up the progress!

I have Cigna. They were very quick to reject and approve. Submitted on a Monday and knew by Friday.

The biggest thing with them was to make sure to meet all the requirements. If you can do that, you should be good to go!

  2. Cigna is a pain!! Submitted my paperwork last week. Heard today that they did not approve it' date=' want another month of seeing the NUT. I called twice to see what was needed and so did the Dr. office. I am right on the line with my BMI, has to be over 40 because I have no co morbidities. I have about four pounds to play with to stay above that line. Now my last appt with the NUT will be Nov 4th. Have to lose something.... But it can't be more than 4 lbs!!! Now I am a nervous wreck !! Ugggggghhhhh!![/quote']

Afaik, you don't have to demonstrate weight loss, only that you tried. Have you reviewed Cignas wls policy? It's easily googled. I have Cigna and they are very picky. Once you submit everything their way, they approve quickly. Good luck!

  3. Congratulations! I don't have bcbs but will be submitting my paperwork to Cigna next week. Can't wait til this part is over. I know you are excited to start this journey!!! WooHoooo

For Cigna just make sure you have followed their wording and policy exactly and you should have no problems. They are quite picky on the wording.

  4. Anyone know just what B12 is' date=' i know we have to take it, but was just wondering what it is?[/quote']

With our sleeve we lost what are called parietal cells which secrete intrinsic factor. Intrinsic factor helps with the absorption of B12 in the stomach. That's why we have to take it sublingually.

B12 helps with brain and nerve function and the formation of blood. If you don't take it you will become anemic.

  5. I had my surgery around 1145 this morning! So excited but am not able to pee. They just had to do this thing to empty my bladder (literally 850 cc in there LOL). Did anyone else have this problem? Also' date=' it may sound strange that I'm concerned about this, but I'm actually not having trouble getting liquids down. I feel like every post I read mentioned issues with liquids. Was anyone else OK with liquid requirements?

    Thank you all![/quote']

  6. Really?? I was going to make it for my husband and kids too and not tell them it was low carb lol' date=' what's the crust's consistency?[/quote']

It's not real crunchy, but I imagine if you cooked the crust longer, it could be. There was no way I could pick up the piece and eat it. However it was much more firm the next day.

  7. I have a couple if reasons I was denied by Cigna.

    1. I had no nutritional assessment but I went to a nutritionist today!

    2. I only had 2 months not 3 required of dr.supervised at loss

    3. My Pcp letter on said I was cleared not cleared and approved!

So my question is' date=' can I add another doctor supervised counseling now or will I have to see the doc for 3 consecutive[/quote']

Don't be discouraged these are easy enough to fix. I was denied initially but once I did what they asked, I was approved. Just follow their policy TO THE LETTER and all will be well.

  8. Wow from what I just read Im doing really bad with the post op clear liquid diet. I'm 3 days post op and have barely gotten any liquids' date=' let alone Protein it. It took me 2 days to finish a ensure clear nutritional drink which only has 9g of Protein. Only 3oz of broth today and I tried to make a protein shake with unsweetened almond milk and with each sip my intestines were in knots. What I don't understand is if my doc said clear liquid diet for a week how can I possibly have a shake which is clearly not clear liquid. Maybe if I make with Water that will be better, ill try that tomorrow. i know it's important to get in protein.[/quote']

There are plenty of clear protein shakes. Syntrax nectar, Isopure are a couple. You may want to consider some Protein Shots if you're having problems.

    What did your doctor recommend?
