What did you eat today :) ?

One week post op Breakfast: 1 bottle isopure Snack: 1 bottle water Lunch: premier protein chocolate Probably some broth and sf jello for dinner
  2. I am doing well with the pain. Very little. The largest incision in my belly button is the one that hurts the worst, but it's very manageable. The part I am struggling with most is being tired and weak. I finally showered this morning and that about did me in. I am down 6 pounds since date of surgery, drinking mostly clear liquids with protein. I tried one of my premier protein shakes yesterday and that started me down the diarrhea path, so I am sticking with the clear liquids again today.

    Surgery June 25, 2013

Well surgery went as planned, but that's where the fun started. First my white cell count went sky high (25k) and no one could figure out why. Then my red cell count (hemoglobin) started to go down (7.6) at the lowest. Threats of blood transfusions lingered, but I asked for repeat lab draws and fortunately it was above 8, which is the magical number for a blood transfusion. It got me an extra night in the hospital, so 3 nights rather than 2, but excellent nursing care and my surgeon called me from his vacation to check in. So happy to be home and sleeping in my own bed. Slept most all of yesterday and last night once I got home. Feel decidedly better today, but still weak. Protein drinks and liquids are going down fairly well, just some minor pain. I am still struggling mentally that this is actually done and I cant eat whatever I want anymore, but am happy with the scale results (down to 209.)

    June surgery dates

I have had hiccups as well. Very painful. I had a hernia repair too. I figured it was just the spasms of the sore muscles. Better so far today. Slept for most of yesterday and all of last night. Still very tired though. Working on my liquids and protein.
  5. Made it home this afternoon. Fortunately I didn't require a blood transfusion. Keeping liquids and protein down ok. Minor tummy spasms. Positive thoughts to everyone this weekend. Sent from my iPad using VST

    June 25th is finally here!

Well I am still here in hospital. White blood cells have now leveled off but now hemoglobin and hematocrit is down and I may have to have a blood transfusion. I feel great though, minimal pain or gas, walking ok. Taking my liquids ok. My doctor is confused why all of this is going on. Please send positive thoughts.
  7. I've been doing well with meds, gasses etc. but this morning I went for my leak test. No leaks, which is good, but we can't get anything past the duodenum. So I am on ice chips only. Would really like a fruit juice or something!

I think you need someone to drive you home! In my hospital, they won't even release you to a cab! Good luck!

    Surgery on Tuesday

Same to you! I think I am in denial...just a couple more days. I feel like I need to pack and prepare everything, but I guess there's not much left to do. I'm just trying to wrap my head around the changes that are coming. Good luck to everyone.
  19. It's your initial starting weight that counts (at least in my experience.) I started out prior to the supervised diet at 37 and am now at 33.5 just a couple of days before surgery. I think I was somewhere around 35 when approved, but they had the info from the initial visit to make their determination on.

When I went to my pre-op testing and instructions, they told me to take all my normal meds with a sip of Water, so I am much relieved about that! Tuesday here we come! Sent from my iPad using VST
