    Weight Gain!

Thanks, it really helps when something goes a bit pear shaped (no pun intended) and someone is able to share their similar journey. Hope all is well with you. Meg x
  2. Hi I'm Meg from Fife. Had my op 6/2/13 not lost as much as most. I was 13 stone when I had the op and now 11stone 4lbs. Happy enough with that but two weeks ago I was 11st 2lbs then I went up to 11stone 4lbs and seem stuck on that for now. I have felt head hunger for the last two weeks, can't each much but feel I want to. Waiting for this to pass also!!

    Weight Gain!

Thanks, I do understand re alcohol but I had this app for a couple of months pre op and I do know that stuff like alcohol & carbonated drinks are way off limit. Not sure if the op is slightly different here but nothing is off limits to us. In fact the bariatric nurse told me to have a glad of wine 1 week post op as I was convinced my op hadn't worked!! Lol that does not however deter from the fact that alcohol contain cals and I agree this is not something I do even weekly however my 2lb weight gain began a week prior to my having the alcohol so that has mystified (and panicked me) a bit. I have been so intrigued by the small differences is diet advice from both countries post op. it is rare for anyone here (I believe to suffer any gas pain!!) not sure why that is, however I was so grateful I didn't as it sounded painful. Anyhow I'll stay off the alcohol and continue with my 20 lengths swimming 3 times weekly and hopefully I'll move from my current hurdle to a more positive one soon. Thanks for your messages x
  5. From the UK. I had my op 6/2/13 and was doing ok but last week I gained 2lb!! And this week I am at the same weight as my 2lb gain. I was doing ok till then having lost 26lbs in 6 weeks. Has anyone had experience/advice on this. I want to be honest with you all and say that I have been drinking alcohol as I was away for the Easter break with my family and managed that well but I did not over indulge by any means and also this does not account for the 2lb weight gain incurred prior to my weekend away. I'm a bit scared by it. Will I never lose any more. My start weight was 182lbs (13 stone) and I am now at 159lbs (11stone 4). Hope my calculations are correct I do everything in stones and lbs. I'm grateful for some support, advice or a serious talking to......x
  6. Just finished my first week, struggling and feeling low today......until I read your post, thank you. Your photos and short story filled with words I needed to hear today are truly inspirational. You look amazing and must feel wonderful. Well done x

    6 Days Gone

Hi Riya, I'm Margaret aged 50 (very nearly 51), and I have 4 children aged 29,27 & 15 year old twins (boy and a girl)?, I am trying to drink as much water as possible and find that far easier than the shakes although today for lunch I had carrot and coriander soup it had small chopped up carrot in it but I managed about a quarter of a bowl and feel ok. My energy seems to come and go also one minute I'm up ironing and washing etc then I need to lie down for an hour. I have 2 weeks off so I do want to make the most of resting. Not sure that you will be able to rest much with a 2 year old. I could not go 4 weeks on liquids, I think I would find that very difficult.

    6 Days Gone

Thanks for your reply its really helpful. It would be good to stay in touch if your ok with that. The Bariatric nurse promised that she would introduce me to the 3 others who had their op the same day as mine but she never did and I feel the support would have been really helpful for us all. Other than the head hunger and the fear that because of not having that 'full' feeling the op has not worked ( which I know is ridiculous) I am very well and hope that you are also. It's good to know that it gets better/easier in time.
  11. I live in Scotland UK and have followed all your posts for weeks appreciating all your honest stories which have been informative and crucial in preparing me for my op and a glimpse of what to expect afterwards. I am now 6 days post operative and doing very well no problems EXCEPT I do get head hunger a lot. I have a family and am back to cooking the food we used to all sit down and enjoy together but I know what the stuff tastes like and yesterday I was in such a mood all day and I am sure it was due to food depravation. Although I am on a liquid diet I cannot say I have felt full although I have felt satisfied but this fullness that is often mentioned on this forum is something that is new to me. Also as I have a savoury tooth the shakes are making me feel I'll and I struggle to take them and often don 't. I know that the 'sleeve op' is slightly different over here and that we seem to be allowed a more varied post operative diet than you guys but basically for the first two weeks we are allowed liquids (any not just clear) and also creamed soups. Any words of advice or encouragement would be appreciated. Meg x
