  1. I was just wondering if anyone else has been overly monitoring themselves for any symptoms of leaks after coming to this site? I'm 4 weeks out and I'm still worrying about complications. I find myself taking my temperature several times a day. I do suffer from anxiety but I was just wondering if others had this issue?

    Hypervigilance about leaks

I actually did have a leak test in the hospital the day after surgery. I got very sick a week later with fever and heart palps so my Dr sent me straight from his office to the ER. I didn't even know about leaks at that time so wasn't worried about them. They did a CT with contrast and no leak just severely dehydrated so i was on an IV all day. So I'm actually lucky because I had two tests. Because I didn't know I was going to be sleeved I didn't have any info right after surgery. I used this site for a lot of info before i had a chance to talk to my surgeon or nutritionist. I guess because leaks are mentioned so often and I tend to think the worst thing will happen, I'm probably more of a worrier than most.

    Stall 2 weeks after revision?

I had my revision from my slipped band to sleeve on Jan. 4th and stalled at week 2 and haven't moved. I have a low BMI so I figured it will break soon but i won't be getting big numbers anyways. I'm getting around 700 calories but I'm only getting about 45-50 grams of protein (NUT wants 60)and 32- 48oz of water so I think that is why my body is in starvation mode. I lost 17 lbs the first 2 weeks and I only needed to lose 40lbs at the time of surgery so it was a shock to my system.

    RIP Lappy ;(

Oh my gosh. Does that mean my story is supposedly fake too? My doctor did the revision because of the damage from the band. I didn't know I was getting it but I talked to him and he thought it the best option. I will say that I have a hard time with the negativity. I don't remember it as much on the lapband site when I was going through getting the band.

I was mainly scared of a leak because of the stories on here. There seems to be a variety of answers on how long for the stomach to heal. My surgeon has had only had 2 leaks but 1 was at 6 months so I feel like I will worry longer than most. I've read a lot of people say within 6 weeks you are pretty healed. I know with the band the good stuff I liked like salad and red meat were hard to eat as well as a lot of veggies and fruit so I'm hoping the sleeve will let me eat the good stuff. Don't care so much about the red meat. Right now I can eat 2oz of tuna salad puréed and 6oz of Greek yogurt if I eat slow. I should be up to 3 or 4oz eventually in this stage for most things. My paperwork says that after a year it might hold as much as a cup if stretched but going to keep my food to my 2 and 4oz containers as much as possible. I know I'm different from most on here because I'm only 30lbs to goal weight so I'm not trying to lose a lot of weight but trying to maintain. I picked the band because it was the safest at the time and didn't want to alter my insides so I guess that's why it's hard to end up with the sleeve. I wouldn't of picked it at this point but it wasnt offered when I got my band and might have considered it when it was 100lbs.

Oh my gosh. You and I have the exact situation. I woke up on January 4th with a sleeve revision from my slipped band and hiatal hernia repair. I had no knowledge that I was getting it. I had my band since October 2009. I had lost 70lbs and didn't regain. I had about 40lbs to go but I had issues I would ignore until those horrible symptoms started I couldn't. I have been petrified after reading all the information, especially about leaks so its nice to have someone else in my shoes. We have no choice but to go forward. My lack of knowledge did result in a trip to the ER 7 days after surgery because I just didn't understand just how important fluids and protein were. This board and meeting with a nutritionist has really helped. I just wanted to let you know I understand exact how you feel!

Here's my unusual story as to why I'm here

Thanks so much. The husband and I have had some conversations and I know he meant to do it for the right reasons. We've been through a lot worse so no fear of divorce unless I get so hot that I get a new boy toy (I'm 42 so actually that doesn't sound appealing). I figure it at least makes him run to the grocery store when I need something to puree and don't have it. Luckily I already have a therapist so the next appointment is going to be quite a chat.

Here's my unusual story as to why I'm here

He is a bariatric and general surgeon. He did my lapband and also took out my gallbladder last year. I was definitely not his first band. He pretty much does sleeves instead of lapband anymore unless someone requests it. I was just surprised he thought my stomach could handle all that in one day. Right now I can't say I'm feeling lucky. Just nervous until I feel out of the woods.

    More sore at 3 weeks?

I had a revision from a lapband to a sleeve with a hiatal hernia repaired in a surgery that lasted over 6 hours. The unusual part is that I did not know I was getting the sleeve but that is another story that I will have to share. I was wondering how sore other people are after 3 weeks. I didn't have much soreness in the first 2 weeks but I find I am much more sore this week. I did go back to work but I'm at a desk most of the day. I find sleeping is more difficult more this week than last.

    More sore at 3 weeks?

I'm definitely not lifting unless you count my cats. I'm hoping the soreness is just from so many surgeries with the lapband, then my gallbladder removed and then the revision. My skin on my side is sore to the touch so I think some of it's nerve damage.
