  1. Now I know I'm not alone. I'm so discouraged too. Got sleeved with my daughter October 11. 2013. She's lost 60 and I've lost 31 (I'm only 4ft tall so I'm not a low bmi. Starting weight 227)and now I'm in a stall. If I knew I was going to get there I wouldn't be so stressed, but Im so afraid of failure. I'm going to work on my Water and check my Protein intake. I hope we all lose the weight we want to lose.

You are not alone!!! I finally went to see my surgeon this week. I've been too embarrassed to go back because I only lost 52 pounds and I'm 11 months post op. I was shocked at his reaction. He was very pleased with my weight loss. I have 25 more pounds to go to reach my personal goal. I know I can do it. We all can. it made me feel better to hear words of encouragement. My start weight was 227 also. Please don't beat yourself up. You are doing great

  2. My surgery was in August 2012 and I've lost next to nothing. To date I've lost 39 lbs and haven't gone anywhere else. I'm so disgusted and a little bitter when I go on this board. I don't get why so many are doing so well and I'm not. I follow the plan. I don't want to be ultra skinny but i want to be healthy and feel good about the way i do. So disappointed.

I feel your pain. I was sleeved march 27 2013 and I'm down 50. Very frustrating. I work hard at the gym. Much much more then I ever have. I eat super clean. I don't get enough Water in but I do get a decent amount. I'm so embarrassed I haven't even seen my surgeon since 2 months out. I'm going on Monday because I know I have to. Ugh! I'm very happy with the 50 lost. I never been able to get any weight off it's just confusing why it takes longer then anyone else.

  3. Hey Colemon I am home now but I am not feeling well I have headaches and no energy at all so tired all the time plus my hair is coming out I will be bold soon My anemia is due to sleeve but I had problems with pain and all since the beginning I so regret this only lost 13 lbs in over 3 mts

I'm so sorry to hear that. I haven't lost more than 13 in 3 months but I haven't had any other issues. Are you in touch with your surgeon? When do they expect you to be better?

  4. Hello Colemon 70 How are u doing? I was in hospital I needed blood transfusion I have severe anemia but still didn't loose anything I gained 5 lbs I have no idea why I cant loose that weight Tell me u progress

Omg that's crazy :( is it related to your sleeve? Are you out of the hospital yet?? I'm doing well just super slow losing. I'm at 175 and around 10 months out so I'm down about 50 pounds. Discouraged but not giving up and happy about the what I've lost

  5. Hi ladies! Im slower then slow I'm 7 months out and well I've only lost 33 pounds total ;-( so sad! I'm 5'0 and staring weight was 204 I haven't lost any weight in 4 months now I haven't been able to see my doctor. I know I have thyroid and hormone issues. What can I say... I just hope I continue to lose. I feel like a total loser! Full of guilt every time I eat. Anyway it's hard for me to be on this form I can't help but to compare my weight loss with other hope it get better!

I can totally relate to you. How are you doing now?

  6. Lately I've seen a TON of posts about lucky sleevers that drop 100 pounds in six months.

Congrats to them and to their loss. And I would never, ever begrudge anyone the right to crow about a fantastic success. It's part of why we're all here, to share the ups and downs of this surgery!

But frequently, these posts are followed by folks that feel frustrated because they aren't losing at the same pace. All too often, we forget that everyone loses at a different pace. It's easy to lose sight of the real goal (long term maintenance) in the face of the scale goals we set for ourselves. And it's also easy to forget that this isn't a race and that there's no special prize waiting at the end for reaching goal more quickly.

I would like to contribute my loss pattern so that people can see that there is more than one way to achieve a goal. Being successful is about reaching your personal goals, overcoming your personal food demons and maintaining your weight loss for life. It's not about hitting goal in nine months.

I encourage everyone else with a slow loss story to contribute their successes here as well. It's hard to research this surgery and find only the stories about extremes - people completely thrilled with surgery or people that regret every minute of life post op. The same goes for loss. When people search out stories on this, it's too easy to only find rapid loss or stall posts but nothing showing the more realistic and moderate journey many of us take. The sleeve is a permanent tool that does not have a special window of easy weight loss. There is no reason to feel discouraged when you haven't reached goal at one year out, or even two. There is nothing preventing you (short of your own body's natural stopping point) from achieving or re-achieving goal at any point post op.

I lost 60 pounds in the first five months after my surgery.

And I slowly lost 32 pounds over the next seven months.

It took me another five months to shed the final 15 pounds to my goal.

I lost 107 pounds over the course of 17 months. I stalled twice for nine weeks each time. I had months where I only lost one pound. I regularly experienced a gain of three pounds around my cycle, and often only lost weight in the last week to ten days of the month, after sitting at the same weight for nearly three weeks.

I am a success, and at 2.5 years out (and currently pregnant) I still have good, healthy eating habits and maintained my weight loss quite easily. Even 30 weeks pregnant, I am still wearing a size 6/small (in maternity clothes, of course) regardless of how I feel about my expanding body!

I learned what was important on this journey and am in better health today (not just physically, but mentally and emotionally), than I have ever experienced as an adult.

Good luck to those currently on their journey, and I encourage everyone to share their stories here so that newly sleeved folks can see that slow vs. fast loss doesn't really matter in the end.

  8. Thanks coleman i have been dealing with a lot of stuff lately and been off the wagon kind of going through a rough time with my husband which is turning out to be were not gonna be together so i have been i guess a emotional eater the past few weeks and getting a full time job isnt easy either

That stinks :(. I'm on another stall. I've just stopped loosing. So frustrating. I'm everything you are going through will turn out for the positive one day soon!! Take care

  9. Sleeved 4/4. Down 19 lbs. Slow and steady' date=' no stalls yet. But super frustrating to be reading about everyone's big losses. So happy for you, but discouraged that it's not happening like that for me. Have been staying off the boards, it's getting to me...[/quote']

I know what you mean. I was sleeved 3/26 and lost 22lbs. I feel like I should have lost more. It's getting to me too. E

And I'm doing everything I'm told from surgeon and nut. I hope we stay positive!

  10. Well let's see here.. I was sleeved on 3/20' date=' my surgery weight was 264, and my current is at 244. I stalled at 3 weeks post op for about 2.5 weeks. So I've only lost about 20 pounds since the actual surgery date. I was never given a guide on how many calories to consume. I was given the freedom to eat pretty much whatever I wanted to at 2 weeks post op. I learned that if I eat too much and/or too quickly, I feel VERY uncomfortable. I know to eat slow, and stop before I feel too full. I get hungry and still crave the naughty foods even though I was told that I wouldn't ever be hungry or even crave the junk food anymore.

Am I glad that I lost 20 pounds? Sure. However, when you do the actual math, it's only about 3lbs. per week not including my 2+ week stall, which is what I could have lost on my own (though trying very hard to do so) without surgery. Overall, I'm disappointed. Other folks have lost way more than me, or at least have lost more inches. I feel like I'm going to be that small % where this surgery just doesn't help me.[/quote']

I'm right there with you :(. I have been instructed how many cals, Protein, and such to get in. I am. Water and exercise and all! Still only down about 23 pounds. I'm disappointed in myself and feel like I'm not going to loose any more. I was sleeved march 26th. Good luck to you. I hope things get better.
