  1. OK' date=' I am 9months post op, never an issue at all since being sleeved, I just HATE eating. It isn't enjoyable at all. In fact, it actually feels more like work now than anything. I eat slow, take small bites, watch what I eat. It just feels gross when I eat, and I can still feel my sleeve moving when digesting (tmi, sorry). Milk tears my stomach up now, but I can still have cheese and yogurt.

Ya see, the issue is, I know I HAVE to eat, for health and nutrition, but I simply don't want to. My husband even mentioned that eating with me is depressing. He said I just look sad! Anyone else feel like this?[/quote']

I am so glad I found this post! I am starting to HATE eating too. It feels like its impossible to get all these fluids and foods down. Not only that the entire eating experience is unpleasant. It has become a daunting task. Between my ever moving stomach to feeling weird aches and pains when I eat I don't know if my body is telling me I'm full or what the heck is going on in there. I only get about 400-600 calories daily and that's with major effort.

I'm 5 weeks post op today, down 38lbs and yesterday I was too weak to go to work. Over the weekend I couldn't stand long enough to cook Breakfast or make a 30 min grocery run without laying down. My Dr's advice was "just do it. You have to eat". I left his office feeling as if they were more excited about how much I lost than this battle I find myself in now.

Ive never had a slave/master relationship with food. Yes I overate but could always get myself back on track through diet and exercise. My sleeve is my tool to help me succeed permanently, not yo-yo diet anymore, and control my blood pressure. My eating was never out of control. There is no joy in eating anymore for me and that doesn't mean I had some unhealthy relationship with food prior to the surgery. I eat now because I have to simply for health reasons and to fuel my body. And yes, I feel robbed of the pleasure of eating delicious meals. You may say you wish you had this problem but you don't.

  2. While I can't say food no longer makes me happy, I am not nearly as excited about food or preparing meals as I once was. Now it seems like way too much goes into making a delicious meal to only be able to eat a tiny amount of it. Why order out and have the food sit in my fridge for days only to throw away most of it. Feels like a huge waste of money. I am no one to give up on enjoying preparing and eating food. I'm 19 days post op and down 30 lbs so far. Here's to you getting back to happy about food in a healthy way and to me re-discovering the joy of cooking and eating. We can do this!

  3. Through trial and error, I hope I've experiences the last of my last 30 minute bathroom runs (pun intended)

Lactose Intolerance is no laughing matter. What was mildly inconvenient pre-op became a post-op nightmare for me. However, there is a glimmer of light at the end of my DFPW tunnel. I tried a number of Protein powders once I realized that whey Protein was not my friend. Although, I had no difficulty at all with the GNC Pro Performance Amplified Whey Protein powder pre op, it turned my life upside down post op to the point that my surgeon has me going for labs to rule out more serious issues.

    I'm having success with:

Jay Robb Egg White Protein in vanilla and chocolate.(strawberry isn't very good) I use either Water or unsweetened Coconut, Almond and Chia Drink (Dream Blends) 165 cal, 5 carbs, 25 g protein (slightly lower with water)

Thanks to Whole Foods, I got to sample before purchasing Vega One Vanilla Chai and chocolate aIl-in-one nutritional shake. The Vanilla Chai is good with water but I'm gonna use the Dream Blends with it later today. The chocolate I sampled was made with Coconut milk and it was also tolerable. The Vega w/ Dream Blends 182 cal 12 carbs, 15g protein.

Still using Isopure Zero Carb mixed with G2 or Powerade Zero to get in more protein and fluids during the day.

    Fingers Crossed!

  4. So I bought some Isopure about 2 months ago in preparation of my surgery, and it has just been sitting there. Every time I opened the fridge it laughed at me, "Haha you wasted a lot of money on us!" So now that I am 8 days postop I decided to bite the bullet and try it. First out of the fridge was the pineapple Orange Banana. From my readings on here, there is a very clear line when it comes to Isopure Zero...you love it, or you hate it. So here it goes. My mom laughed as I crinkled my face in anticipation of my first sip. I was expecting this horrible cough Syrup tasting concoction, but wait, it wasn't that bad. I went in for a second sip and yeah, I can do this. I can see where some people say it leaves a dryness in your mouth, but maybe that isn't so bad and it will help me sip more. I mixed it half and half with Orange G2 Gatorade and it really helped cut that dryness. I haven't tried the other flavors, so we will see how those work out.

On a side note, I keep losing track on how much fluids I'm getting in. I tried just remembering and that doesn't work. Then I tried writing it down and couldn't remember where I wrote it lol. So my uber genius and completely stupid solution was two paper cups, 8 pinto Beans, and a 1 cup measuring cup. Each time I measure out my cup, I move a bean over. I know...it's stupid, and I can't believe I just admitted it! :D

I use Isopure as well. It's not all that bad and I agree its a hate it or love it thing with all of these products.

Your Fluid tracking system is great! Do whatever works for you. I just might try it myself

  5. Im 8 days post op' date=' and Im down 14lbs. I think there are some very important facts we all need to remember. First, the scales are our enemy! Most want to weigh in daily and expect losses but as many have pointed out we are losing sizes and not always weight. Either way we are getting where we want to be. Second, we didn't put the weight on overnight, and cannot expect it to come off overnight! This is a journey (marathon) not a instant fix (sprint)! Keep the faith, stick to your plan, and stay off the scales! We all will get there, but at different paces! We just have to remember why we made this choice, stick to our decision, and WORK at it!! We all knew going in this is a TOOL to assist US not a instant cure for being fat!! ;-)[/quote']

So true. Thanks Lifesaveremt for the much needed reality check.

  6. I was sleeved 2/28' date=' went in for my first pre-op appt on 3/4 and was already down 10 pounds!

I've always struggled to lose weight on my own, but I dropped 2 pounds post op.

I planned on weighing every Thursday so it was exact weeks from surgery...I didn't weigh yesterday bc I had just weighed in at the Dr Monday ....plus I've been in the hospital with a Dang kidney stone since Tuesday night ...so I'm sure with the I.V.s, I am probably carrying extra Water weight[/quote']

Congrats HockeyMa on your weightloss so far. Best of luck with the stones. Hopefully you recover quickly

  7. Question...No pain with drinking (not sipping)' date=' no discomfort at all ever, getting liquids, puddings and cream Soups down easily. Other than no appetite, and easily feeling full, I would wonder if the doc did anything. Am I just blessed or are there others.with similar experience? Sleeved 2/26/13 down 16 lbs in 2 weeks.[/quote']

We were sleeved on the same day. I had very little pain or complications. I was determined to get my Protein in and have been very successful coming up with combinations to reach my protein goals and still have some variety in what I'm eating. I found myself wondering if the doc did anything to me as well. Maybe 2/26 was a day for lucky sleevers ;)

  8. I'm using GNC Pro Performance because my son is a high school athlete and it was in thle house. Overall its not very good tasting but it I found out you can work miracles with whatever Protein you have Go to:

www.the worldaccordingtoeggface.com Her Protein Shake recipes are incredible. They even make the GNC crap I'm using taste good. I also use Unjury flavorless and chicken flavor for adding protein to my hot foods.

  9. I am on the full liquid diet that I was oh so happy to begin with 3 days left of full liquids before I can move to the purees. I am so hungry all the time now after never being feeling no hunger at all.

At day 3 post op I was allowed to add sugar free yogurt and strained 98% fat free Soups. Prior to surgery I had a serious lactose intolerance and it has apparently gotten much worse after being sleeved. I tried both and there is no way I can deal with the constant bubbling in my stomach after a 4oz serving.

So, basically I am still on the Clear Liquids and I am as hungry as a bear. Did anyone else have this issue? How did you make it through the full liquids without dairy? I do use soy and lactaid milk in my Protein Shakes. Is that my only option for the next 3 days?

  10. Day 4 post op lunch for my sweetie chicken cheesesteak and chips, Lunch for my sister large bowl of homemade chicken noodle Soup, Lunch for me 4oz of 98% fat free cream of mushroom soup strained twice. I sat between them could smell their food but never wanted their food. Didn't feel tempted to taste their food. Never even silently desired their food. All new for me. I think I'm in love with my sleeve

  11. Yesterday marked 3 weeks post op for me. Day of surgery I weighed 225' date=' and after losing then gaining then losing again, I am now down to 209! So close to 1derland that I can finally get excited. My issue is that people are starting to notice my rapid weight loss and asking me what I'm doing. I have been called "skinny" so many times this week, all I can do is laugh (cause I'm still far from skinny). I don't feel it's anybody's business but those who I've already shared with about my surgery. For those who chose to go this route and keep it your business, what did you tell me when they asked about your weight loss? Or your new eating habits? Just curious cause I wanna say none of your business, but I don't want to be rude! Lol[/quote']

Im only 3 days post op but plan to tell folks the "truth" 1) I changed my diet 2) I don't eat as much anymore and 3) I am exercising. Hope this helps you.
