Awesome progress @@chevygirl10_24!! I'm excited for you to see what your loss will be by Christmas. My advice as a 3 year vet, take advantage of "honeymoon" period...it definitely gets harder and slower to lose as we get smaller. But, I can almost feel the joy coming out of you while reading your post. I remember those days! Good luck to you and keep us updated.

Babbs kinda took the thoughts right out of my head! I hit goal in 10 months (248-135). Maintained for 2 years and now that I am over 3 years out, i have gradually gained about 10 lbs. Year 3 is no joke. I never had a problem getting off a few pounds and now it seems these pesky ones don't want to leave me. I am not terribly disappointed as I feel I look a little healthier but my pants are starting to not fit right and I swear I will NOT go up a size. That is a slippery slope for me.
As Babbs said, good for you on making goal and your attitude is AWESOME. I swear some times that is half the battle. Just be prepared that what works for you RIGHT NOW for maintenance might change the further down the line you get. Awareness is key! That is my motto. Be aware and mindful of my actions and what I put in my mouth. And don't ever think you got this under control for life. These boards have been my lifeline for the past 3 years. I may not post often, but I am on here reading and soaking up everyone's wisdom. I wish you luck and a sincere CONGRATS on your success thus far!

I have been on this site since January of 2013 and it really is one of my only resources for support. I stay because "I" need this site, but I mostly lurk because of all of the ignorant posters. I don't care if they don't have proper pre-or post-op instructions or an inadequate bariatric team. IT IS ON US TO DO THE RESEARCH!!! In my opinion, there is NO excuse for not being prepared for what you are in store for after WLS. I sure as hell made every effort to educate myself before I drastically changed my life, and 3 years later, I am still learning and hope I always do.

Where would you or I be without the guidance of the Veterans here. They have counseled on poop, tacos, hamburgers, vomiting, pain, Vitamins, four YEARS. Sometimes the questions are so absurd the only way to deal with them are with humor. LIghten up. You have no community of dedicated helpers like you have here. Trust me.

Hubby is awesome, and very supportive. So, when I ask him to indulge me with things like way too many trips to the mall and new (on sale) clothes and high heels that I normally wouldn't buy. He is encouraging and always has a smile. And when I have told him for the millionth time that day to look at how baggy these pants are he again smiles and agrees every time. Any sweet things your significant other does to support your efforts?

But then again, it is always entertaining to see the responses to a rant. If you dont want drama stay the hell out of the rants and raves section. LOL

I heard all that 5 years ago and it's still a hot topic. I just think if people want to do that to their body then let them. In 6 months they will have lost 5lbs and their drs will be ticked off and they will be in tears wondering why. I stayed on my diet program 100% until I was 1 year out and was getting too thin. BUT (big but here) I slowly started eating a bite of bread here, some ice cream there and about 2 years ago I started gaining again so here I am re-affirming my intentions to get that 25 lbs off before it brings 10 more friends and so on. I've gone up a size and that was all it took for me to realize I needed to get back on plan. If you don't start out on plan you will never get the weight off to even know how great you can look..

I'd like to throw in my two cents also and say that I too owe a lot to @@LipstickLady for my success so far. I mean, why wouldn't I listen to the advice of someone who lost all their weight AND has managed to keep it off? I would have been crazy not to!
Oh, and she's actually a pretty nice person, too. I know that's hard for some people to believe.

Me, personally? I think I DID have some of my "stupid" taken out with my stomach...I'm seeing the world a HELL of a lot more clearly now...
