Bariatric journey Multiple procedures Since 2023 Preparing for surgery

  1. I was told by my coordinator that the insurance only looks at your starting weight and BMI. I am encouraged to lose weight during my 5 month required nutritional visits but it is not required. They just don't want to see a gain. 13 lbs already...that's AWESOME!
  2. This is exactly the reason I am hesitant to tell anyone, outside of my immediate family, about the surgery. A lot of people really need to think before they speak. Just remember that you are doing this for a healthier you.
  3. I haven't been sleeved yet but I would be ecstatic if I lost 85lbs in less than 4 months. Great Job!
  4. My doc doesn't require a pre-op diet at all. I think I may still do one starting at 1 week just to get myself in the right head space.
  5. Good Luck. Sending good thoughts your way!
  6. Hi everyone! I am Lorie from Pittsburgh. I am so glad I found this post. It didn't seem like anyone was having surgery in July. I finish up my testing and required nutritional visits in June so I am aiming for a mid-July date. I can't wait!
  7. Congratulations on your approval!
  8. Good luck and congrats!!!
  9. Congrats! I will hopefully be having my surgery in July also. It will be here before we know it.
  10. You look great! Congratulations!
  11. Great news! Congratulations!
  12. Good luck today and congrats!
  13. It is nice to find a group of people that are going through the stages at the same time as me. Hopefully, we can all support each other the next few months as our dates get closer.
  14. I should have a early July date and I cannot wait! It will be here before we know it.
  15. I am currently in month 2 of my 5 month program (UPMC insurance). I attend a seminar once a month where they discuss a nutritional or fitness module, they record my weight, and I submit a monthly food log. They would like to see a weight loss each month but I was told it is ok to remain stable. They do not want to see any gain. Towards the end of my program, I see a NUT for a one-on-one and have my Pych Consult. I should be done early June. Good luck with your journey.
  16. I was thinking of going the bypass route until I saw Lisa Lampanelli's (comedian) weight loss with the Sleeve. She lost 80 pounds in 5 mouths and looks great. I started reseaching the Sleeve immediately. I knew that Carnie has WLS twice (didn't know which kind) and I recently watched her on Celebrity Chef and was surprised that she hadn't lost more weight.
  17. I am so glad that there is somebody else out there that went to Magee. I attend my first Lifestyles class tomorrow and I meet with the surgeon next Tuesday. What did you think of the experience there? Any tips or suggestions for me?
  18. Hi there! I am from Pittsburgh and will be having my sleeve done at Magee hopefully soon. I was wondering how your surgery went and how you are doing now. I am surprised that there doesn't seem to me many people from Pittsburgh on this site.
  19. I am getting sleeved to be healthy and have a normal BMI. My goal is 155 and that is the highest weight for my height to be in the normal range. I just want to be comfortable in my own skin again.
  20. Hi Khloe! I'm new to this too. My first surgeon consult is not until 2/19 and with all of the requirements that my insurance requires, my surgery probabaly won't be until July or August. I can't wait! Good luck with your appointment
