  1. Im sure your weather is better than mine anyway! Keep up the great work!
  2. I was hoping i could connect with anyone who has been sleeved in Portsmouth. I am just starting out on my journey and having my psych eval today and Nut/PT thursday. Would be great to hear what someone else's experience was like with this surgeon's group.
  3. I'm in Portsmouth New Hampshire. Didn't realize there was also a Portsmouth in Va. Lol.
  4. I tried nutrisystem a few years ago and the taste was horrible. Super processed, and, yes... goopy, and to me had a chemical taste. Can't be too healthy. The program required a serving of protein and veg along with the "meal" so what was the point really. Without it i had a healthy meal on my plate.

    Butterfinger Candy Bar Fix

WOW! Great idea. I am in the pre-op stage and already sampling protein drinks so i know what will be most palatable for me post-op. I love mixing things up too. I see the Nut for the first time on thursday to get off my initial 5% off.

    so excited

Kayluc... My husband and I are doing this together as well. We are both just starting our journey and being on the same page at the same time really helps a lot.
  9. YES!!!!!! No thigh rubbing! (Maybe a pair of jeans could last more than 6 months?) NEED to do a zip line from the top of Gunstock mountain....and horse back riding without feeling bad for the horse!
  10. I know your frustration. Every time i need a new pair of jeans, they change their sizing system. Now i can find my real size 24 in boot cut, but now they dont sell petite sizes in the regular stores, but only online. Not fair since i really need to try clothes on before buying them. I have had luck at JCP and Macy's with jeans. And honestly, as comfy as LB Jeans are, the St Johns Bay jeans and the couple brands i have found at Macy's have held up much better. And, seeing that the closest LB outlet is 60 miles away, i don't have much choice. Is there an Avenue or Cato in your area? I have had luck there in the past as well.
  11. PHOENIX!!! OMG we are in the same boat here! My BMI and highest weight is 312, now 300. We have tried so many years to have a baby and i decided, even though i am 39, i would rather be a bit older and healthier than risk the complications from having a pregnancy at 300 lbs. Not to mention that most fertility specialist won't do IVF or at least you are limited as to what can be done if BMI is over 40. My husband and i are going through this process together as well. The plan is to do all the nutrition, PT and group sessions together and i will be first for surgery and once i heal, he will go as well. Its so nice to see that other couples are going through this together, it really works to be on the same page with everything. Good luck to you... and heres to our future baby bumps, and looking cute in maternity clothes!
  12. Hi there, I am new to VST and just had my first consultation with the bariatric nurse on friday. I have a long way to go before i am scheduled for surgery but i am ready! I have struggled with my weight my whole life and i have come to a point where something has to be done. I have to lose 5% of my weight, (about 20 lbs) and keep it off, meet with a nutritionist, physical therapist, and psychologist for evaluation, then attend 5 behavior modification group sessions before i meet with the surgeon. Seems like a lot to do but it is worth it! I am doing all of this for a very important reason.... i want to be a mom. My husband and i just learned that IVF is the only option for us and my BMI needs to be 35 or lower for the best possible results for my age group. I am almost 40. At first i didn't think that would be a lot of weight until i googled a BMI chart and realized that to go from a BMI of 51 to 35 would be around 100lbs!!! So since it would be unlikely that i could get that weight off on my own in a year, i decided to look into the sleeve and i am glad that i did. Its worth putting off all the hormones and therapy in order to have a healthy pregnancy and child. So thankful that i found this forum! So much inspiration here!

    Is it ok?

Yup. That's my silly hubby. We are in this together and very serious about it. But nothing wrong with a sense of humor.

    Anyone From New England?

Tekara, i am in Portsmouth too and i am just starting my journey. Had my first consult with the Nurse practitioner on friday and made my Nutrition and PT appointments already. I would love to get your feedback on the team here. From what you have posted so far, it seems like you are very happy so far.
  16. I am also hoping for a may date. I am in school full time for a career change and a date during a semester break would be perfect for me. I also have high BP and my doctor diagnosed me as a pre-diabetic. Yes, Peggers, i need all the encouragement i can get!
