    Aaaaaagggghhhh! Not Feb 14th!

I started mine a few days before Christmas and went through New Year's. I wanted to test myself to see how serious I was about making this change. Ask your surgeon on 2/12 - he might surprise you and tell you to go for it!
  2. I believe the registration fee is discounted if you book at the host hotel.

    My b-fast

We went out to dinner and it was cheaper for me to order an entree than ala carte - so I wanted a little meatloaf... They bring out a 12 oz. slab !!! I'll pick at it all weekend and the dog will get whatever's left on Sunday night!

    My b-fast

I had 2 oz. of meatloaf...LOL (Not very traditional, I know)
  6. Guess where you are going to "fit-in" soon? Airline seats, theater seats, amusement park rides, kayaks, regular clothes...the list goes on and on! Which is better? That, or being able to down a crapload of food? You are going to be just fine!!!

    Stalls

Hey Ortho - it's normal! I just completed week 4 and I might only record a 2-3 lbs loss and I'm a BIG guy. Just let your body do it's thing and have faith that this process works. Go watch youtube of all the successful real people who are 6mos-1yr out. They all experienced stalls along the way and they look great!

    Pre-op diet and diet coke

I quit cold turkey after surgery and took advantage of the wonderful pain meds going through my body to counteract the usual caffeine w/d headache!

    Surgery March 5th

That's just like telling a depressed person, "Just get over it" - so annoying! The only person you have to listen to is yourself and if your own intuitive "little voice" is telling you this could be a great tool for weight loss, then go for it. I guarantee those same people are probably just scared for you and those asinine comments are their way of dealing with it. Trust me, they will be some of the first to tell you how great you look! Unless they are jealous - then just get rid of them! Not in a mafia way, just out of your life! LOL

    Surgery March 5th

I am totally unaware of any staples in me (although I know they are there because I have seen the pictures!) - in fact I had to get an MRI for a non-VSG related health issue and it was no problem. Go onto YouTube and watch the 100's of people who have documented their VSG experiences. Look at their first videos and their last videos and notice how great they look at how much LIFE is in their eyes. I only have 6 videos uploaded, but feel free to check them out - search VSG KIRK
  11. I didn't feel bad at all after I felt elated that it was done and was up walking within hours of surgery (I think I even did a little break dancing for the nurses) My incisions didn't hurt, but I could feel a pulling sensation You may not even crave fatty food - if you think you might be depressed about it - start working that out with a therapist because you will be exposed to all kinds of things in the real world post-op Pre-op diets are tough, but they are so crucial to a successful surgery and decrease risk I think everyone has your concerns and they are healthy - great job reaching out!

    Surgery March 5th

Here is the way I look at it. Staying morbidly obese, there might not be a 10, 20, 30 years from now... I have not stopped smiling since waking up post-op You'll do great and if you ever need to reach out, don't hesitate!

    annoyed 90% of the day

Here's the very positive thing about your statement - YOU HAVE SELF AWARENESS. Seriously that's most of the battle. You'll adjust and get your groove back! You'll go from b***h to sleek and sassy!

    Salad

Each surgeon and nutritionist may have a different answer for you on this one - What did yours say?

    You all suck!

    Word!
  16. Just look at it this way - you went from living in a gigantic mansion into a little studio apt. You still have everything you need, food, shelter, clothing, etc - you just have to be more efficient with the space! Don't panic, you are going to feel SO good!

    questions one month out

It sounds like you and I have the same surgery date - I'm down 25, so you sound like you are right on target! Don't be frustrated, just stick to the plan and give your body some time to adjust. Don't forget, you had MAJOR surgery! Hang in there, I promise you'll look back at this post a year from now andd think "I was so worried about nothing".

Headache! 1st day Pre-Op Clear Liquids

Juny, for me, it's SO much easier post-op. I think it's because it doesn't feel like a diet AND I haven't experienced hunger yet. Hang in there, it's worth it!

    I can't wake up!

I think it's normal - I slept alot too. I'm 4 weeks post-op and still have to take a little catnap when I get home from work.

Headache! 1st day Pre-Op Clear Liquids

Totally normal, especially if you have given up caffeine as part of the pre-op diet plan. I felt a little flu-like initially, but I always felt that way (first few days) everytime I started a low carb diet.

    Is it morbid?

I have a picture of mine in my gallery.

    Who am I?

Hey Jon - VSG is the single best decision I have made in my life! I am down 41 lbs since my first consult with my surgeon in November 2012. I was sleeved on January 3rd and have said goodbye to 25 lbs in less than a month. Each day I feel better and better. You've come to the right place for information and support. Welcome!
  23. I'm great! I have been extremely fortunate to have had a very smooth recovery - I think a lot of it has to do with being uber compliant and really absorbing all of the information that my surgeon and nutritionist have provided to me both pre/post op. I have a YouTube channel where you can follow my journey - search VSG KIRK I haven't been THIS happy in a very very long time.
  24. Sure thing Deb! When you hear those words "You're all done" - I promise, you won't stop smiling (and it won't be from all the drugs!)
