    Is this real?

I went through a depression after my surgery for 2 weeks just missing food in general. I wasn't really hungry. It was just head cravings. It has gotten a lot better now. I've lost 53 lb. since March and have 37 to go. Hang in there. These first few weeks are the hardest. It's worth it!
  2. I had surgery on March 27th and have lost 32 lb. since the pre-op diet. Now I'm playing church league softball and working out at the gym!

march sleevers the good and the bad

i had surgery on the twenty seventh. second day was the hardest. i had alot of gas and nausea. almost threw up my n meds last night. sleeping on an incline. its rough but know it will pay off. watched and smelledmy familyeat sonic today. that was hard.
  5. I'm on a one hand countdown. 4 days! This preop diet is getting so old. I can't even look at pistachios anymore. On day 5 of my preop diet, my 2 year old daughter got a stomach virus. On day 8, I got the virus. I got no protein shakes in for 2 days because I couldn't keep it down, and I had (less than 10) saltine crackers and a small amount of Sprite. That scared me about messing up. Now it's day 10 and my husband has the virus. I am hoping my son (7 years old tomorrow) won't get it because he gets dehydrated very quickly and has to be hospitalized if he vomits too much because he has kidney disease. Today is my birthday. I had one small bite of cake and one small bite of ice cream. No sodas. Water. I am going to dring another protein shake and eat some berries for supper. Tomorrow, I have to go to a family lunch where my favorite meal is going to be prepared and I won't be able to eat a bite because of this stupid preop diet. I am so over this!! I am ready for Wednesday. I hope I haven't screwed up. I've lost 10 lb. on this preop diet. What do you think?
  6. Ugggghhhh!!! I am on day 6 of 14 on preop diet. I am so wanting to eat something else! Hope I can somehow make it through this torture!

    Leak?

What caused the leak? Do you know? I have surgery this month and now that I have read this I am really scared. Did they do a leak test before you were released to go home? How many days after the surgery did you have the leak? What were your symptoms that keyed you in to the possibility of a leak? Sorry for so many questions. Thanks!

    Calling All March 18 Sleevers

I have surgery on the 27th and have to start my preop diet on the 13th. I really dread it because my birthday is on the 23rd and my son's is on the 24th. That will be hard to deal with (birthday cake and all that). I don't get why some surgeons make patients do it for 2 weeks (like mine) and others not at all. I am starting to wonder if I am doing the right thing. Really, I know that I am, but just thinking about all of the food situations that will be different makes me go into food funeral mode. Feeling anxious.

    Variety in food after surgery

My NUT says that variety is GREAT as long as it follows the requirements of the 2 P's: 1. Protein 2. Produce If there is any room left after, fruit. Keep carbs LOW. That's what I've been told. I think I will probably eat the same breakfast every morning (or drink). I like protein shakes. I am going to find variety for breakfast and supper, but will probably keep very routing for breakfast and snacks.

Need help with understanding insurance letter

So, I called and spoke to my surgeon's nurse. She said not to worry because the dates 3-8-13 through 3-9-13 is the time frame they sent in to the insurance company for approval. They call it a "dummy date" because they have to send in a specific date to get the surgery approved. She said everything is fine and that they will schedule my surgery date when I go in for my preop weigh in appt. on Feb. 25th. I feel much better now. Thanks to everyone for your help. I called everyone: insurance, bariatric insurance specialist, and surgeon's office. I am glad I did. It's good to be thorough with such a delicate process. I've jumped through so many hoops; I didn't want it to be for nothing. Thanks again for all of your support. I'll keep you posted.

Need help with understanding insurance letter

Well, I called my insurance company and asked what it meant. They said that as of now it means I have to have the surgery on March the 8th!!!!!! They said I could probably get the date changed without a problem, but I won't feel better until it's changed because I doubt I could get on the schedule that fast! Keep me in your prayers and keep your fingers crossed!

Need help with understanding insurance letter

I hope you're right soccermomx2. I would hate to have to ask my doctor to do the surgery on one of those two specific dates. I hope it all works out. I'm really nervous. Guess I will either call my insurance or talk to the bariatric insurance specialist next week. I was hoping I could relax a little now that I've been approved. LOL!

Tomorrow is the day that I fall in love with myself!

I think my hubby should pay more attention too. My optometrist told me that she had heard of several people who had divorced after they lost their weight, but I think there must have been substantial problems in those marriages before. It's funny how all of these different thoughts come up during this whole process. I am a teacher too. I haven't told my students what's going on yet. Don't think I will. Going for my pre-op class tomorrow. Good luck!!!
