I had a rash too. It wasn't my meds. Because I have stayed on all of them and no rash. I did wear a binder around my torso - for the first week- I quit wearing it cuz i thought it might be causing me to have this itchy rash. The rash went away 2 days after that.

How funny! I look forward to all the energy I am going to have this summer when camping with my husband and boys. We have a camper and just to get it nice and clean and everything arranged takes a lot of work. And a lot of flexibility.

That is absolutely crazy. I don't understand why you went ahead with the surgery. What if you do get pregnant this month. You will not be able to get enough calories in for a healthy pregnancy. Your surgeon sounds very uninvolved. You obviously are only going to hear what you want to hear. So I actually feel sorry for you. I feel bad for anybody that puts their life at risk- and then doesn't give themselves a few months to heal and adjust to the new lifestyle. It is so hard to stay away from the wrong foods as it is. You should not have had this surgery now - if it was so unimportant to you. You will probably be complaining in a a couple years because the surgery didn't work for you. Oy!!

WOW - just the inspiration i needed from this website. Good for you!!!! Be so proud of your self.

one quick call to the insurance company. Bariatric insurance coordinators have been wrong hundreds of times......

Before my liquid pre-op diet started - I ENJOYED all my faves, in great big portions!!! I said good bye to them all too. It was like a mourning period kinda. Then once the liquid diet part started, I was very strict. You should try to avoid the fatty foods atleast 2 to 3 days before your surgery so your liver is not enlarged.

THAT is GREAT! Good for you. It sure feels good huh? I am also one month out. My surgery was 01-14-13. Since the day of surgery I have lost 30 pounds. I am very happy with that. I am still on pureed foods. Next week I move up to soft.
Keep up the great work. That swimming you are doing is awesome.

I am shocked she gave you the go-ahead. For the next several months it is going to be tough to get all your Protein and fluids in just to keep you healthy. I can't imagine adding a pregnancy on to that. Of course. because of a surge of estrogen in your body it may be the best time to try if you have had trouble trying to get pregnant. That is tricky. I personally would want to wait a few months- make sure there are no complications around the corner from surgery. Like needing your gallbladder out or problems related to new pouch like leaking, rupture, or ulcers. And what meds are you on post-op?
-
I would call and ask your insurance company to be absolutely sure. They are the only ones that truly know what that means.. and at this point you don't want to assume anything. Good luck.

It really is hard for all of us to give you advice when we do not know you or anything about your mental history. Please don't be in such a hurry for the surgery. You are almost there. In the grand scheme of things- 5 weeks or 6 months will be a blur. And why be so willing to jump on meds - especially when you don't think you need them? You are entitled to a second opinion. Get a new psych eval. professional.
-
Proudgrammy~ it wasn't your post I was referring to - but I could see how it looks like that. sorry for that misunderstanding. I love reading all your posts. Friends!

Oh that is terrible. I feel bad for ya. You have to get a psych eval from another professional. Seriously. It sounds like you got hooked up with the wrong person. A lot of those folks have issues themselves and don't always know what they are talking about. You are absolutely entitled to a second opinion. And NOBODY can decide if you need to be on an anti-depressant after one visit. Ridiculous. Keep looking. My surgery was 7 months after I had hoped- well worth the wait. Good luck dear.

Most people do like their Protein Shakes. They are healthy powerful drinks. Those who use them long term to maintain weight loss are not lazy!!! They are very smart and most likely will have the most success with sustained weight loss. Some of the negativity on this forum gets to me sometimes.

Maybe we should just fill the house with only foods we can eat- buy enough for everybody. That way everybody is on the new eating plan.

Tawnie~ I hear you girl.... My husband has always had a bowl of Cereal an hour or so before bed- every night since we have been married 11 years ago. And now-- when he goes to get it- and sits next to me on the couch and I can hear him crunching on it - I want to make him spill it on himself. Hey are you off pureed foods now? I am still on pureed.
-
What a moment- so excited for you and I don't know you. Keep up the good work.

My throat hurt for about 6 days. Real sore fore the first 3 and then just a little bothersome.

NOTHING tastes as good as becoming thin and fit and strong and sexy. That is what I told myself to get through those pre-op weeks. It was hard for sure. Do you have access to support groups and a behavior therapist? Don't underestimate how much that can help you work through the toughest part of your journey. Your liver needs to shrink before surgery. Is your surgery laparoscopic? A shrunken liver can prevent surgery from becoming an open operation. It is easier for your surgeon if he can get around your liver easier. It can reduce the risks of complications. Improved blood sugars and blood pressures and decreased Water retention are all important before major surgery. You are hungry. But...you are almost there. Stay strong - you really can do it. Look how well you did in week one. Pretty soon you will enjoy the benefits of your hard work.

You need to be careful with all your ingredients. Sodium is a big problem. The scale stops when you eat too many foods with sodium. I eat greek yogurt, eggs, oatmeal, mashed potatoes, pureed fruits. Pureed meat made me gag. So I will wait till i am on soft foods. I mix Protein Powder with everything so that I feel fuller longer. And i drink to Protein bariatric shakes per day.

if u think getting your Water in now is difficult ---- it is harder after surgery. And if you don't get the water in, and take it seriously, you will become dehydrated-and end up in the hospital. Just saying. Good luck to you.

You have to be weighed each month in an office for the MD to chart your weight for 3 consecutive months. Along with other information. If this is important to you - you should find the time to find the right place that will help ya. Don't be in a hurry either -this is your life. Good luck.
