  1. That is absolutely crazy. I don't understand why you went ahead with the surgery. What if you do get pregnant this month. You will not be able to get enough calories in for a healthy pregnancy. Your surgeon sounds very uninvolved. You obviously are only going to hear what you want to hear. So I actually feel sorry for you. I feel bad for anybody that puts their life at risk- and then doesn't give themselves a few months to heal and adjust to the new lifestyle. It is so hard to stay away from the wrong foods as it is. You should not have had this surgery now - if it was so unimportant to you. You will probably be complaining in a a couple years because the surgery didn't work for you. Oy!!

  2. I am shocked she gave you the go-ahead. For the next several months it is going to be tough to get all your Protein and fluids in just to keep you healthy. I can't imagine adding a pregnancy on to that. Of course. because of a surge of estrogen in your body it may be the best time to try if you have had trouble trying to get pregnant. That is tricky. I personally would want to wait a few months- make sure there are no complications around the corner from surgery. Like needing your gallbladder out or problems related to new pouch like leaking, rupture, or ulcers. And what meds are you on post-op?

  3. It really is hard for all of us to give you advice when we do not know you or anything about your mental history. Please don't be in such a hurry for the surgery. You are almost there. In the grand scheme of things- 5 weeks or 6 months will be a blur. And why be so willing to jump on meds - especially when you don't think you need them? You are entitled to a second opinion. Get a new psych eval. professional.

  4. Oh that is terrible. I feel bad for ya. You have to get a psych eval from another professional. Seriously. It sounds like you got hooked up with the wrong person. A lot of those folks have issues themselves and don't always know what they are talking about. You are absolutely entitled to a second opinion. And NOBODY can decide if you need to be on an anti-depressant after one visit. Ridiculous. Keep looking. My surgery was 7 months after I had hoped- well worth the wait. Good luck dear.

  5. NOTHING tastes as good as becoming thin and fit and strong and sexy. That is what I told myself to get through those pre-op weeks. It was hard for sure. Do you have access to support groups and a behavior therapist? Don't underestimate how much that can help you work through the toughest part of your journey. Your liver needs to shrink before surgery. Is your surgery laparoscopic? A shrunken liver can prevent surgery from becoming an open operation. It is easier for your surgeon if he can get around your liver easier. It can reduce the risks of complications. Improved blood sugars and blood pressures and decreased Water retention are all important before major surgery. You are hungry. But...you are almost there. Stay strong - you really can do it. Look how well you did in week one. Pretty soon you will enjoy the benefits of your hard work.
