  1. In three months you could be a size 8 or 10. Wait until 2 weeks before the wedding and have it altered by a professional. Most of the bridal stores will insist you do it sooner. But find a privately owned business and make the appointment way ahead of time and explain that you are losing weight and want to wait to have it altered till just before you need to wear it.

  2. Call your doctor. Get a heating pad. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is one of the main ingredients in Lortabs. If the strong Lortabs don't help you - regular Tylenol will not help. You need to be taking your regular meds too-- nobody likes crushed pills. But not taking your medications is a terrible idea. You really should commit to doing everything your doctors ask you to do and take what you are supposed to.

  3. Every doc is different. Mine doesn't do the 2 week preop. Just the day before on clear liquids. I'm in going to be okay. I go August 9th for my surgery. My BMI is like 51.

I am so shocked at that. Did you lose a certain amount of weight in the past couple weeks. I can't get over how different doctors can be. Are you having surgery at a Bariatric Center of Excellence? I am very curious. I almost want to keep track of everybody's answers. You don't have to answer- but I am interested. Does your surgeon specialize in bariatrics or does he do many abd. surgeries?

  4. If your liver isn't ready for this surgery - you may have serious problems. Please talk to you doctor and be honest. I hated the pre-op diet. I made a promise to myself--if I couldn't follow the diet exactly the way my surgeon asked me to- then I believed I was not mentally prepared for this life changing event. I did it-- it sucked. But I made it through the surgery with no problems and the following 3 to 4 weeks were not bad because I was mentally prepared. Please be honest with your doctor. YOu may need a little bit more time to mentally prepare- and there is nothing wrong with that.

  5. I don't believe I am lying about it. I have restricted my food intake and started moving. Does it matter what helped me do it? I could have taken a certain medication/supplement that helped me feel fuller, and I would have kept that to myself too. The only people that really understand ..are people that have over 100 pounds to lose. Average weight people in MOST work places are very judgemental. And although I am not ashamed of what I did...I don't feeling like being judged and scrutinized every day. Unfortunately, there is a stigma to having weight loss surgery. And if you are the type of person that really doesn't care what other people say-- then that is great. But it is almost impossible to truly not care what others think because that is the whole gist of being human. Humans are social - they want to be validated--and accepted. It is a fact. You can easily drop 50 to 80 pounds in 3 or 4 months on the Atkins diet-- I did in the past. And that is what most of my co-workers think I am doing again. Which is fine with me.

  6. Melissa130 What's you brand of Protein Powder? I'm not sleeved yet but I'm trying out the Bjs bariatric shakes and love them so far I had the vanilla wafer flavor this morning added low fat milk and nutribullet it away added ice after its like an nectar consistency.

I use Bariatric Fusion! I swear these shakes are magic. If I don't use them for a week or so the scale doesn't move. So I start drinking them again--and the scale shows loss. I have used other shakes but do not get the same results or the same Protein in.

  7. keep it to yourself!!! You will never regret it. You would regret telling them. There is no reason to give up the secret. I tell people I follow the Atkins diet and work out. I tell them I eat no junk food and very low carbs-- which is true.

Your new diet and lifestyle is what will get you thin--- the surgery is just helping you get there. Keep it to yourself--- you will be happier that way.

  8. The more thin I get--- the more painfully aware I am of how so many people are predjudice against overweight folks.. All around me, I hear strangers say awful things. They don't know I was fat. Amazing and sad. I find myself going out of my way to be nice to obese people in public. Cuz it really hurt a lot when I was there. I DO FEEL BETTER-- EMOTIONALLY AND BODY. How can I not? And everybody knows when you lose weight you feel better--even though you continue to do everything you always did...

  9. The higher the BMI-- the longer your liquid pre-op diet should be. Surgeon's who do not require the pre-op diet are most likely not at a bariatric standard of excellence center. Be happy your doc ordered it. He knows what he is doing. Don't cheat. This will also help mentally prepare you for the post-op phase.

  10. Oh I think at 5'1" - the chance of you getting to 130 pounds is absolutely attainable!!! You can DO IT! Strive to work out 7 days a week. Make it routine - like taking a shower. It will pay off.You don't have to work out 7 days a week for the rest of your life- just for now- while you try to reach your goal. In just a week or 2 you will see results. Just don't forget that muscle weighs more than fat so don't get discouraged by the scale. The long term weight loss will be there on the scale eventually. Can't wait to hear how you progress.

  11. Ldallas-- I am thinking you must be pretty young. The truth is 99% of people that lose so much weight do feel better. I sure do. Mentally and physically. However, I agree with you. I find it amazing when so many people out there think they are sending a compliment-- but they couldn't be more insulting. At first I got so snappy. One lady at work said to me--- " Wow- you look great--you so morbidly obese" in front of every body. I hated her!!!! But now I do not let these people get to me. I refuse to let them bring me down.

  12. Ok- so when I started I was 246- about 234 on the day of surgery. I'm nine weeks out and am 198/196 so I've lost approximately 50 pounds. My doctor told me that I could reach 180-160 but that's about it. My goal weight is 130lbs...is that reasonable, is it possible ? I haven't done much exercise- is that going to hinder me? I have no clue where to set my goal and these stalls are getting old.

If you exercise you WILL reach that goal of 130 pounds. I am just about 6 months out--- the scale moves downward every single week -- EXCEPT for the weeks I don't get to the exercising. It makes all the difference in the world and it will hinder you if you don't do it. How tall are you?? Your height could be why the doc is giving you that number of 160- to 180. Start moving. You will love the way you feel and you will love not having any stalls in your weight loss. And you if are 5'7" or below-- you can absolutely weigh 130. That is the new number I want to get to also. Keep us posted sweetie. And MOVE girlie!! :)

  13. I am really glad I went to a hospital that was stamped as a Bariatric Center of Excellence. The nutritionist is specialized for weight loss surgery diets. All surgeons in this field should make this available to their patients. And waiting to October to see somebody is very long in my opinion. You should absolutely call them and tell them you want to see them atleast in August. And schedule yourself an appointment every month with a nutritionist until you have been well adjusted to the new eating plan. And make sure the specialize in weight loss surgery--the needs are so different. You need their skills.
