    Post-Op Diet Question

I just bought my local grocery stores (HEB) version. It's the kind in a box. I bought vegetable and chicken. I just pour it into a bowl and nuke it. I did buy the little cubes but find the ready made easier to do. It wasn't bad. I'm gonna go back and see what other flavored they had bc they had alot of variety on the broths.

    February Sleevers

That would be me. Not much on gas pains but right side incision burns bad. I have to use a stomach binder and that helps but still feel that horrible burning. When I take off the binder, I almost want to pass out and throw up from the pain.

    Down there?

Just trimmed. No underwear and they didn't insert a catheter. That's why after they have me 2 IV's of fluid I had to get up and go to the restroom several times. I was worried I would pee on the table but I did well.

    January 22 Texas surgery patients

I had my surgery on the feb. 19th and got discharged on the 21st. Some minor discomfort from the gas pains but really painful right side incision. I'm on clear liquids until next Thursday. I can only have broth, Jello, Popsicles, and Water nothing else. I'm in San Antonio and had surgery with Dr.. Gonzalez.
  8. I have been fighting the blues since I got home from the hospital so any little thing I'm treasuring to raise my spirits. I remembered today that on the last day before I got discharged as the nurse tech was putting a glove on my hand with an IV so i could shower. She looked at my fingers and said you were meant to be thin. Your fingers are so skinny. Made my day and I just remembered that she told me that. All my life I have always been told my fingers were skinny. Too bad hat was about the only thing that was skinny once I hit puberty. LOL!
  9. Ask about constipation during pre-op and after and what you can take?

    February Sleevers

I used the spirometer but managed to cough several times on my own. They put me on oxygen and gave me breathing treatments but that was bc I have asthma and sleep apnea. But once they saw I was doing ok they took them off by the second day. Now I can't fart or burp to save my life. I want to and I feel it but it just won't happen. My incision on the right side is what's really bothering me. I have to use my stomach binder so that I can walk comfortably. It hurt like hell when I took it off to shower today. But at least I didn't feel faint like the first time I took it off.

    tell me why?

My doctor has me only on jello, broth, Popsicles , as water for the first week. Seems strange you can't have the jello. He basically said anything that lets or dissolves at room temperature is ok.

    Panama Vacation no food!

I'm sure you will be fine. Stressing yourself over it isn't going to help. Remember this isn't a race. You are in it for the long term so will lose weight once you get back to your regular diet. Hang in there.

    Did I do something wrong?

Get it checked out. Better safe than sorry.
  14. I'm doing good with both. My diet righty now until I see my surgeon again next Thursday is jello, broth, popsicles, and water. I can do cold water but find I have to take smaller sips bc it seems to get stuck goi down my throat. But I'm not having any problems with liquids right now.

    Day 4 post op

I hope so. I had the surgery on Tuesday. Gas pains are not too bad but the incision on my right is what's killing me. Right now I'm averaging about 4 hours of sleep. Just log enough for the meds to kick in and wear off. I'm hoping this weekend will be better.

    Pain!

I managed to take a shower. But from getting undressed to taking the binder off took me about 2 hours. My right incision which is close to my belly button burns and hurts so bad. Binder helps but still really painful. I can't wait for this pain to be gone. I literally stand still for about 10 minutes when I get a sharp stab of pain. I have a little bit of a rash on my belly. Wondering if that's normal. But I did I showered and got dresses.

    February Sleevers

I gave up and went to the recliner. Either way I'm averaging about 3-4 hours of sleep at a time. I can't get comfortable at all. I drink water and I feel as the water goes down the gas comes up so they pass each other and it's very uncomfortable. I can only have jello, water, broth, and Popsicles until I see the doctor again on the 28th. I'm using a binder for the pain and that helps but when I take it off boy does my right incision hurt.
  18. I had to take the stomach binder off to get ready for bed. I almost passed out from the pain and felt like throwing up. I had my husband put it back on but now I'm wondering how I'm gonna manage tomorrow when be goes back to work and I need to shower and change. I know it will get better and the binder really helps the pain. But without it just a major burning on one of my right incisions especially when I walk or sit.
  19. I managed about half the soup, the Popsicle , and the jello. Drank 3 bottle of water yesterday. Slowly but surely.

    My breakfast

I was in the hospital but just got released about an hour ago. Pain is kicking in but my prescription isn't ready. I'm wearing a binder and that helps some.
