First meal at a restaurant
Susie1226 replied to cartmansnj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've learned to order water even if I won't drink it. The waiter questions me if I don't. I still order a regular meal. I can't wrap my head around ordering something smaller plus the appetizers seem more fattening. Then I take almost all the food home. I would say I get several meal out of it but usually my hubby beats me to it. -
Alcohol at 5 months and survived!
Susie1226 replied to Holly5.3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My NUT had said originally they had said no alcohol for a year but they revised it and said it was ok after 3 months. -
Same thing happened to me. Was better by day 6 on. Sometimes I get a noisy tummy but it happens with water and/or food. I remember drinking water and feeling it go down at the same time gas came up and somewhere in my esophagus they met and pass each other up. It will get better.

Bio Oil. They sell it a Walgreens, Wal-Mart, etc.

OK so I know my clothes are looser but I haven't seen the scale move and it's frustrating me. Apart from that the fact that I can only eat very little portions of food has me not even wanting to eat. It's almost too much of an effort to eat. I am eating so don't get me wrong but I can't help feeling this way. Almost just want to stay with my yogurt and protein drinks. Sigh... Today is a down day. Just finished crying for no reason.

I was told not to take the multivitamin and the calcium at the same time. I was told to space them apart. Something about the calcium not being absorbed properly with the multivitamin.

I was on pre-op diet for 2 weeks. I had 2 Protein drinks and a small meal and I lost 10 lbs in those two week. So I have lost a total of 26 lbs but that's it. I'm in a stall. I was sleeved on 2/19/13.

Happens to me with dinner. I'm back at work so Ido protein drinks for breakfast and lunch but when I get home and eat dinner that happens. I just think food sits heavy and so it makes me sleepy. Any food which is why I'm doing protein drinks for work. I drive alot and can't afford to get that sleepy feeling.

Same issue here but I have used melatonin before and it gave me very bad nightmares.

First day of work exhausting!
Susie1226 replied to Gonnabeslim1day's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today was my first day back and I was exhausted. I'm a speech therapist and I work with kids in a home health setting. It was rough after 3 weeks off. Then to top it off got home to find out the hubby's truck died on him finally so we went in search of a new car. Got a good deal but now going to start making a payment we weren't planning on. Can you say stressed? Just want to get this week over with. -
feb 2013 sleevers weigh in
Susie1226 replied to kathyhalls's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 2/19/13. So far I have lost 26 lbs. But 10 of those lbs. were from the pre-op diet. I'm stalled right now. -
I was sleeved on 2/19/13. At day 6, I no longer needed pain meds. But guess what yesterday and today the pain and soreness have come back. So I understand. Our bodies respond differently to pain so you just deal with it as best you can. On a side note, when I was in the hospital the first day they made me walk. I was struggling to walk outside my room. Some man who got sleeved also passed me by like nothing almost running down the hallway. He had the surgery the same day but he wasn't in any pain. I saw him at the 1 week post-op visit and I was still favoring my right side incision. He had driven himself all the way from San Angelo and had even driven himself home from San Antonio the day he got out of the hospital. I had barely begun to drive that day of the post op visit and I was super sore when I got home.

Same here. My doctor said to just let it resolve itself. It has gotten better but once I'm up I'm up. Can't sleep in.

Same problem. As soon as steri strips fell off, I washed all the residue (adhesive). It took a few days after that for the itching to go away. Now it's better and almost all redness is gone. Surgeon said I could take Benadryl.

The Grinch ain't happy-Sleeve name?
Susie1226 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have read a lot of posts where people have named their sleeves. From this point forward mine will be known as The Grinch. And the Grinch ain't happy right now. It's amazing how I can eat very little food but the protein sits like a brick in my tummy. Anyways what did you all name your sleeve? -
Been there. As a matter of fact, it happened to me about two days ago. I also feel like people are avoiding me but then I realize that they are busy with their own lives. I attribute it to the excess estrogen now freed from our fat and floating around in our bloodstream. Also bc we are at home recovering and we get bored and lonely.

Hospital called to check up on me and I told them about the rash. The itching isn't bad and it isn't spreading so they told me to take Benadryl. Anybody else experience a little splotchy rash on their belly?

C pap Gone ! Zzzzzzz
Susie1226 replied to sarahzamudio1091's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope that happens to me too. I couldn't tolerate the CPAP at all. That's the main reason I did the sleeve. I'm down 26 lbs but I'm losing slow so hopefully I see a good night's rest in my future. -
My surgeon said that if I could t handle the broth that was ok. Since I was at the liquid stage he said to focus on Water and if I could do Jello and Popsicles then just go with that. I just had to stay hydrated.

When did u stip crushing ur meds?
Susie1226 replied to newme31's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon let me take my allergy pill whole soon as I was discharged. I never have had any issues. Even my omeprazole. He said as long as they weren't horse pills like the big old vitamins then I was ok. Anything smaller than a dime was ok to swallow. -

Hat is a big difference. Way to go!! -
My rash is gone. Once the steri strips fell off and I was able to wash the rest of the adhesive off, it pretty much resolved itself.

Diet Coke Addiction
Susie1226 replied to ChristenOnAmission's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I drank alot of diet coke before surgery. I slowly weaned myself off of it on my pre-op diet. I was sleeved on 2/19 and haven't had one since. I don't necessarily miss it but sometimes I see people drinking one and wish I could but then I remember why I stopped and I get over that feeling. I don't even know info went through withdrawal bc I was dealing with surgery pain so I didn't notice it. The meds helped with that I'm sure. LOL!!
