  1. I had mine the week before my surgery which was on 2/19 and I just got it yesterday. I pretty much skipped March. So yeah it was super late.

Did you have a catheter ?

They didn't use a catheter on me. But it sucked getting up from bed in pain to go pee every 10- 15 minutes bc of all the fluids pumped in me. Not to mention I had to time the call to the nurses to unplug me from everything just right so that I wouldn't have an accident.

    Accurate BMI site?

Just downloaded the app for that BMI site. Happy to report my BMI went from 49 to 43.6 bc of a 30 lb weightloss. Still classified as obese but the number is going down. Yay!!
  4. My surgeon told me to stay off the scale (which I don't) and just look at how my clothes fit. Baggy but not quite ready to move down a size yet. He also said to look for a weightloss of 5-10 lbs a month. He said sometimes it would be more and sometimes it would be less but not to stress over it. I did break a stall about a week ago by drinking tons of water.
  5. I had the same thing. My right side incision was the one that bothered me. Around day 6 you should start feeling way better. Hang in there. The first week is rough.
  6. It's not allergies. Saw the doctor today and they told me I had a pretty bad cold. I am running a low grade fever ranging from 100.7 to 101. They gave me a z-pack and Tessalon pills for cough. I'm hoping I can take some NyQuil tonight so I can sleep. Any body taken NyQuil after getting the sleeve?
  7. My NUT said not to chew gum bc it activates your saliva which sends a signal to your stomach of oh you must be eating let me activate your stomach acid. Plus she said it can cause gas pains from swallowing the air. And she didn't want me to accidentally swallow it.
  8. I usually get my standard of a steroid shot and just depending on how bad I'm losing my voice with allergies sometimes oral steroids too. Just wondering if anyone has gotten a steroid shot or oral steroids after they have been sleeved. Of course I will call my doctor and ask him if I can do it but just wanted to know. So far congested like crazy and losing my voice. Not the best thing for a speech therapist. LOL!!
  9. I'm a home health speech therapist and I work with kids. I have lost 30 lbs from pre-op diet to surgery. I was sleeved on 2/19/13. I was feeling pretty good about myself until I did this visit with this family that's loves to reference my weight whenever possible. You know they start talking about somebody and then they say well they aren't as big as you or they are way smaller than you. Really bothered me today bc everyone else can see I lost weight except them. Just feel hurt right now. They don't matter I know but it hurt after I have been working hard to stop this weight. Just needed to vent.
  10. Thanks everyone I would tell them something but seeing as I got in trouble last year for asking a family to turn down the TV while I gave their child therapy and this family has been problematic I just rather not say anything. Normally I let it slide off of me but today it kinda stuck. I'm just gonna do my job and try to get this kid out of therapy as soon as I can so that I never have to see them again. Thanks for all the support. I feel much better.

    question to females!

Thanks to all of you I feel better. Definitely not pregnant so it must be the weight loss. Feel relieved.
  12. I'm 5 weeks out from surgery and have lost 30 lbs. Yay!! But I'm exhausted. I had to take this morning off to rest. I went back to work 2 weeks ago and although I can do my job I just feel drained. How long before my energy comes back? Other than that things are good.

    Diet Coke Addiction

Try Propel Zero water. I love it and it has 0 everything. I was sleeved on 2/19/13 and I gave up soda on 2/18/19. So I'm over a month out without a Diet Coke. You can do it.

    feb 2013 sleevers weigh in

Went for my one month appointment yesterday and I now weigh 235. I started at 261 before the pre op diet. Day of surgery I weighed 251. 2 week post op appointment I weighed 238. I was stalled but I upped my water and was able to go down to 235. Doctor said to keep doing what I'm Doug and expect a loss of 5-10 lbs a month. Slow but steady stays the course.

Congrats. Hope to be where you at too.

    VERY ITCHY!

I had the same problem. My doctor told me to take Benadryl. Also you need to wash the area well bc you still might have adhesive on there that's still making you itch. I was itch from the adhesive and the steri strips and even developed a rash on my belly. It wasn't until I was able to take of the strips and wash all that adhesive off that my rash started going away.
  17. Every doctor is different. I was on liquids right after surgery and then they moved me to soft foods after my 2 week post op visit. They said if I could tolerate that then I could start with real food. I just had to introduce it slowly. So I have been eating regular food since about week 3 after my surgery. I was sleeved on 2/19/13. Just depends on your doctor. Follow your own doctor's advice. Stay the course. What works for me might not work for you.
  18. Best advice anyone can give you is to call your doctor. Better to be safe than sorry.
  19. So everything that my doctor has told me is to avoid sugar. I understand that but at the same time they say that artificial sweeteners stimulate your appetite and actually make you crave more. So isn't it better to do real sugar in moderation of course. Just wondering about this. Thoughts???
  20. I upped my water intake yesterday and drank 3.5 liters and weighed in today at my one month post-op appointment. I was straddling 237-238. Today I weigh 235.5. I will take that. I will continue to drink more water today to see if I get the scale to move some more. Even if it doesn't as long as I stay at 235 I will be happy for awhile bc the scale moved. Woo Hoo!!
  21. Hi fellow San Antonian. Who was your doctor?
  22. I decided to try to drink more Water to try to break my stall. So far I have almost finished off 3 liters of water and think I can get one more liter in by tonight. I'm am very well hydrated today. Oh and I went from my one month post-op bloodwork today.
  23. Yes this will be my only change bc I can't really up my calories unless I eat slider food. Everything else I can only eat a few ounces especially meat. So hopefully this will work. If it doesn't then gonna go the yogurt route. Someone on YouTube posted it and they do a yogurt day for 2-3 days and they break their stall. They use 0% Fage yogurt and mix in sugar free syrups and fruit.
  24. I'm in San Antonio. I was sleeved on 2/19/13. My surgeon was Dr. Gonzalez. I'm down 26 lbs including the 10 lbs I lost on the pre-op diet. I'm in a stall right now but I upped my water so hoping I can break it.
  25. Today is my month anniversary. I was sleeved on 2/19/13. So far 26 lbs. down since pre-op diet and surgery. Kinda stalled now but I have lost inches. Hope I lose more soon.
