  1. Yea, their approval process is pretty fast. As long as you have one of the qualifers like sleep Apena. I got approved within a week. But thier co-pays are pretty high. Between the doctor and hosptial, I've spent just under $5000.00 for the surgery and pre-surgery tests.

PS - I have not regretted spending one penny of the money.

PPS - Looking at the monetary side, I expect it to take about 3 - 4 years to break even on the cost of WLS - If you take into consideration the amount of money I won't be spending on food each week.

Oh wow thats crazy mine covers all except 1,200 of the surgery and it's either 90% or not to exceed the twelve hundred. Since I paid my deductable already my total cost is 700.00

  2. Don't be afraid to call them and ask if you are unsure of anything. You are paying the bill, so make them work for you. BCBS-TX is a fairly easy company to work with and provided you meet the policy requirements and have all the paperwork in, you should be fine.

OMG you were so RIGHT I just called and they told me I was approved!!!!

I am so happy you responded cause I would have been freaking for days!

  3. Hi, I have BCBS/Tx and my paperwork was sent out a couple days ago. I called today to see if I was approved or denied and the woman told me they had notes on it but no decision yet. I was wondering what this meant and if anyone had this happen to them before?

  4. I hope you get your approval ASAP too!!! Give it a few days and just call them and ask.

    Good luck

They submitted it on Wed. and I called today and they said they did not have any information yet but they did see some notes on it. I am sitting fingers crossed and heart beating!

  5. I had BCBS of Arkansas for public employees....100% exclusion on all obesity treatment! I wanted to have this surgery years ago! In Arkansas they thought teachers should not get obesity treatment, and be good examples for the kids! Yes, I'm still bitter lol

WOW I would be livid!! You are making a choice to live a healthy lifestyle and that IS a good example for the kids!

  6. I recently went to my first seminar and meeting with my Doctor and they checked out my insurance which is BCBS of Texas. They told me that my policy does cover the surgery but because it's a new policy that I must wait till Jan 2014 to have the surgery. Was completely bummed but I'm going to be working with my doctor to get everything I need done during this time and take it from there.

I also have BCBS/Tx and the surgery is covered! I have a PPO if that matters, I can scan you the information that they sent me if you want?

  7. Good luck to all of you going soon. Is anyone going on February 11 to Tijuana? It would be nice to have someone to track with. But not as a competition, just someone who is experiencing the same thing at the same time.

Who are you going to see? My paperwork is being submitted tomorrow but if I get denied I am headed to Mexico!! so maybe buddies after all?
