  1. Just had surgery yesterday and everything was fine I felt great then....I feel asleep.... And boom and hour later was in pain clicked the morphine clicker as soon as the meds hit me instant vomiting. So now I am so sick and hurting and I really wish my husband could be here!!! He is at home taking care of out two sick babies with the flu :-(

  2. But the pump every 10 mins is hard to sleep too because you have to stay on top of the pain...if you fall asleep it takes forever to get back on top of it!

It is hard to sleep in the pump I fell asleep for about an hour woke up hurting so I pressed the pump 3 times in 30 mins and now I'm sick!

  3. Yeah for some reason I'm getting my dilaudid through shots in the arm. I would SO rather have a pump to control myself. I have to call the nurse in every 2 hours or so for my next dose so sleep is pretty much nonexistent lol. I fall asleep for an hour and then wake up realizing my tummy is about hurt. Atleast it's working though. I'm sad bc they just took away my ice chips until I do the upper gi leak test tomorrow. Do you have those mouthwash foam lollipop thingys too?

Yes I have those foamy things. They suck so bad and all they would give me was a medicine cup half full of ice chunks once an hour! I am getting nauseous so they won't even let me have that now!

  4. I created a Facebook page and invited family and friends who were interested in seeing my progress. I also post recipes' date=' motivational quotes, and my struggles. The support I get from them has been so helpful and inspirational. They post articles and are so encouraging. Thought I would share if you were looking for an idea to get positive reinforcement.[/quote']

I just checked up your FB page and you are so freaking funny!! I love how positive you are... You are truly an inspiration keep up the amazing work!

  5. If you want to come to Houma my Dr is Dr Schwab and my entire process was one month! I called for information on Jan 5th met with the surgeon on Jan 10th did my phyc eval, meet with the NUT, sleep study, and got my paper work from my PCP within the next week and a half and they did EVERYTHING let me know where I needed to go and when. I just got sleeved yesterday an I feel amazing! I am in my own huge private room with cable and free wifi happy as can be!

  6. So excited for you!! Just breathe..... :)

Thanks surgery went great! I am feeling so amazing and yes food is the very last thing on my brain so whooo hooo... I have been walking, sitting up at the nurses station and running my mouth lol, I did have a rough patch with gas when I first woke but It only lasted a couple hours cause they told me to walk so I know I walked about and hour out of those two and I have been keeping up walking every hour for 15-20 mins!!

  7. I can't believe my surgery is over! Funny enough it didn't hit me until a few hours after that whoa' date=' my entire life is changed. There's no changing my mind or giving up, etc. Im ready to get everything healed so I can starting kicking some ass! The surgery itself was pretty standard. Doc was pleased I lost 13lbs in the 10 day pre-op diet. I wiggled myself out of the bed and onto the operating table.. Felt like 3 seconds later and I'm waking up in recovery! Pain meds are a godsend right now but no gas discomfort surprisingly. It gets better every hour![/quote']

We have to be sleeve buddies!!

  8. Surgery done today too and like Stacey says its hard to believe its done. Well except for the fact that I have had not one hunger pane yet (amazing) I did have gas really bad but I got up an hour after I was in my room and started walking 15-20 mins every hour and they were gone! I feel great I have no pain ( maybe cause of the push button Morphine) but no complaints here. The room and staff here is amazing I have a large private room with a giant walk in shower! So besides being so excited to begin this journey I am Gucci!!!

  9. I was sleeved today 2/6 too! Quite a bit of trial and error to get me to a comfy place (they had to double my dose of pain meds and increase the frequency to every 2 hours). I don't really have any gas pains though so that's cool. One weird problem I'm having though is my throat is swollen?! Didn't expect that. They may bring in an ENT doc to take a look tomorrow. I've been assured they won't try and take out my tonsils right now but I'm still a little worried. All in all I feel pretty good for someone who just got their stomach chopped off haha (:

Me too they have me on morphine and I can press the release every ten mins but I feel fantastic I have been waking fifteen to twenty minutes every hour and the staff is amazing! I am actually gonna send theses ladies something! You are so lucky no gas it hurt my back and made it hard to breathe it was so bad.... Well make sure you post so we can see what tomorrow brings you!!

  10. Ok' date=' so I'm a slow loser. Not a surprise. The doc and nutritionist told me that would be the case up front. ( various medical issues, medications). I've lost right about 20 lbs in almost 6 weeks. Deep down I was hoping for some sort of sleeve magic and I would lose more. But ok, so it panned out just like they said...

Superbowl Sunday comes around.... I had a Protein shake for Breakfast and we head out to my brother's house to watch the game with a few people. Jay, my husband, had barbecued ribs (his specialty and one of my favorites) and brought them with us.

This is what I ate or attempted to eat

*1 pork rib ( my first since surgery)

*2 or 3 few crackers with a little dip

*2 tablespoons artichoke casserole ( only able to take a few bites)

*1 piece of King Cake ( a traditional Mardi Gras thing -- we're in the middle of Mardi Gras here in New Orleans . It is something like say a cinnamon roll with icing).

I had another rib and a few spoons of artichoke casserole when we got home later that evening.

Well, guess what? Got on the scale 2 days later and I had gained 3lbs. WHAT??? My head tells me that scientifically that cannot be possible. Yes, I ate more calories than I normally would but it probably came out to about 1500 calories. Yes, I overate but I did not go crazy with it. Of course I know it takes 3500 calories over maintenance levels to add a pound. The scale today says I gained two pounds. So maybe the 1 lb was Fluid. Maybe it's all Fluid ( I'm doubting it because I am on a diuretic for blood pressure).

Anyway, just really down. Down about not losing more, down about gaining from a mild variation from 800 calories a day..... and now wondering if I'm just freaking doomed.

    Doomsday Dana is gearing up.......

Oh and by the way, I'm open book-- it's just my personality. I've told all my friends and family about the surgery. Well, now I feel like I'm on display --everybody is checking me out to see if I've lost any weight. It's like, not only do I have to deal with my own disappointment at not losing more but now I feel embarrassed because I know everyone else is thinking, Damn - she can't even lose weight with 85% of her stomach cut out..... Of course, no one actually says that but I guarantee you that they're thinking something similar.[/quote']

I am right there with you. Mardi Gras and sleeves are enemies I swear! But I have heard a lot about people's weight going up and down. Just remember your weight fluctuates during the day due to changes happening inside your body. So I would just find a day of the week and make that your weighing day!

  11. Thats fantastic your doing so great!! Where are you for your surgery? and yes' date=' keep us updated!!! :)[/quote']

I am in Houma, Louisiana and had to learn the hard way that Mardi Gras + Pre sleeve diet = one angry mama lol.... All the beer, BBQ, boiled seafood, and Snacks anyone can eat but me????.....but hey this is what I need and I am so happy!

  12. Here I am post op finally and I admit it has been a rough day. The gas pain has to be the worst but they were right you can literally walk the pain away. I started walking about an hour after I left from the recovery and haven't stopped. I walk at least 15 mins every hour and I feel fab! The only thing they will give me until tomorrow is those little medicine cups half way full with crushed ice. That is fine with me though cause food is the last thing on my mind. They also changed my diet to just Clear Liquids, no Protein for a week or Vitamins which is weird. The staff has been amazing I have a giant private room with free cable and wifi.... Well off to get some rest an I promise to keep everyone updated!
