  1. I am only a week post op tomorrow and started 2 lbs away from your weight preop (238). I lost 7lbs the week before the surgery on the preop diet and when I weighed myself this morning 6 days after surgery I was 223lbs. So in less than 2 weeks I've had a 14 lb weight loss. 150 is my goal too and I believe it's completely possible. Good luck on your journey!.
  2. I was sleeved on Jan 30th and just last night I noticed a horribly itchy rash on my inner thighs and neck, no where near my incisions or the surgical tape. Is this a common thing - did it happen do any of you? How did you treat it? Everything else is going so swimmingly, but this rash business is completely bizarre. I plan on taking a half dose of benedryl before I go to sleep tonight and slathering on some hydrocortisone cream, but if anyone else has better ideas, please share!

    Post-op Rash?

Fascinating, I never even considered it to be a drug reaction. I did have Lovanox injected into my belly. Yikes on it taking a few weeks to go away though.
  4. I'm the exact same as you. I'm 5 days post op and had 70oz liquid and 70oz protein today (only 22oz of the liquid was protein) along with all my vitamins and I feel fabulous. Heck, I even walked the equivalent of 4.5 miles today with no problem whatsoever. I think this is a good thing, right?
  5. Here's to this being the fattest I will ever be! Thought I'd do a before picture to remember the big before becoming the tiny. Wish me luck. Sleeve surgery 1/30/13 @ 10:30am.
  6. Honestly no clue about sew or staple, I vaguely remember staple, but I might be making that up. If you find out before me, let me know. p.s. Just got back from a 4 mile walk, 5 days post op and feel great. I really hope your experience is as awesome as mine has been so far!
  7. Okay, I'm back! 4 days post op and I feel amazing, literally. i got in 70oz Protein and 64 oz Water today, took all my Vitamins and had enough energy to go on 2 hours worth of walks and cleaned my house in the meantime. As far as the hospital stay the only issue that I had was a real sensitivity to the anesthesia which made me uber nauseated and then when I asked for relief the nurses gave me zofran and reglan and it turns out those made me even more nauseated (BTW dry heaving when you've just had major abdominal work is NO fun). After 24 hours we finally realized that the meds were exacerbating the situation and then switched to phenergan and then life was good again. I haven't stepped on the scale yet because I'm still bloated (I can tell because my wedding ring barely fits), but know I'm going to register a loss when I weigh myself officially on Wednesday (1 week post-op), In my opinion, Dr Eslami did a fantastic job. He visited me on day 2 post op and let me know that, "Don't worry, I made the sleeve nice and tight so you're going to get nice and skinny." I can't wait! If you have any questions whatsoever about the experience, please don't hesitate to ask.

  10. Okay, I knew there would be gas, but didn't realize with every sip or tiny bite of anything I take comes about 20 belches.Seriously I would win the frat boy competition. I've probably walked at least a mile and a half today, took in 66oz liquids, 60oz Protein, a few bites of Soup, applesauce and was sleeved 3 days ago on the 30th. Probably TMI but I've only farted 5 times post of and finally had a bowel movement today. Still...the belching continues. So, my question is should I sign up for a frat now because I'm going to be in burping hell for next to forever or did any of y'all have it and have it go away (and if so, when)?

    January Newbies ! Progress ?

I was sleeved on the 30th and since I still look like a bloated Oompa Lumpa from all the junk they pump you with during the hospital stay I'm scarrd to go on the scale. Today, my first full liquid day I'm just focusing on getting plenty of liquids, my multi and protein at a minimum. I think I'll post a loss, if any, at least a week out from surgery (which would be this upcoming Wednesday). Good luck to all the January folks - here's to us starting the year off right!
  14. Lol @ passing gas. Yes, I am thankful the gas is moving up north instead of heading down south. So glad to hear that it goes away eventually!
  15. I hope it ends up going away for us soon! I burped throughout my entire pregnancy and then as soon as I delivered my kiddo, it was gone. Now I have a sleeve and nothing to deliver so hoping for some elusive end date. I managed a mile and a half by breaking it up into 3-4 chunks throughout the day. I think if I did it all at once i would be WAYYY too winded. It also helped that I've been chasing a dog and a toddler and they are wily and fast!
  16. Thank you all. I survived and am well and am at home living life as close to normal as possible!

Sleeved Jan 30 - just home

Thanks all, sleep was a ******. I went to bed completely exhausted at 10 p.m. and then woke up at 2am like it was morning... I paced around my house for about an hour and probably fell asleep closer to 4 and then was up again at 6 a.m.. It's not yet noon and I've had 30gm protein, a multi and 26oz water. So really things are getting easier. Oh, I'm also burping like a frat boy, non-stop, so hoping that'll subside soon.

Sleeved Jan 30 - just home

Me too! Sleeved on the 30th and home today. Praying for a much better night sleep than the two nights I the hospital.

    1 year tomorrow! Who else?

I'm so happy for you. My surgery date is tomorrow so I hope to be as successful as you a year out. Congratulations!!
  23. And then what did the second week look like? Because I’m curious – what did you guys do on the days you were in recovery after you came home from the hospital. My surgeon just said don’t work (even though I have a desk job and can work from home), don’t lift anything over 10 lbs and go about life as normal. Really? What was the experience like for you guys? I’d love to hear real life experience from y’all. My surgery is this Wednesday.
  24. Thanks so much for the info, I really appreciate it. I’m a classic Type A, busy, driven, social person so I think I might go bonkers if I don’t work a little bit (like a few hours a day broken up through the day). I’m going to load up my ipod with music/podcasts and plan on doing lots of walking. Speaking of walking – how many hours of the day did y’all walk? I can imagine it’s hard to walk a lot without getting exhausted because of just how little you’re able to take down, right?
