Katrina Parsons Colemire reacted to Fiddleman in Vitamin D Deficiency
Generally taking capsules is OK after surgery, especially Vitamin D because the gels are like little fish eggs. If you are unsure , give your NUT a quick buzz. I ha e been on Vitamin d 5-6k IU for many years now partially because I live in Seattle and partially because I have read/heard such good things about taking d supplements. Not sure how true the claims are but they have worked well for me and everyone I have talked to about it. By the way, my six month labs for vit d were right in the mid range

I actually read some research on this the other day, though not specific to WLS. The study found that D deficiency is not causally related to weight retention or gain, just that higher weight can lead to lower Vitamin D levels. I'm on my phone so don't have a link; you might google it?

I've been on 10,000 IU Vitamin D for a month in prep for surgery. I was also low and getting up to a more decent range will help with healing. Not sure about helping weight loss. I'll get my level rechecked in 3 months. (I wouldn't recommend that dose unles you have already been tested and are low.)

Katrina Parsons Colemire got a reaction from Ladydawg2009 in 4 days post op-2 quesitons
I had the dimple in my stomach also, and my doctor told me it was normal, that it should go away. I never had the problem on my left side, but I have saw many posts about pain around the shoulder area.

Katrina Parsons Colemire reacted to TD41 in Abdominal Binders
Hi,
Trust me i am not sure why they didnt mention it but it helped me during my first month of post op. I was in so much pain everytime i moved and its hard to sleep especially if you are a side sleeper. I say invest in one just to eliminate the pain where the surgeon removes stomach.
Best regards
TD41

Contact your physician any way soon. They are best to advise you and check in with. Hope you feel better.
Good luck.

Never hurts to call, but I would hardly call 99 degrees a fever. You are only .4 degrees above normal. My body is going to vary by more than that throughout the day, for sure.
Plus, you did just have a surgery 3 days ago. Your body is going to be working a bit harder right now fighting organisms introduced into your system. Call, but don't stress about it. That won't help.

Yes, I did. If it goes any higher than that though, contact your doc asap!

Hi everyone!
I am new to the forum and have been lurking for the most part on here. I am having my VSG on Jan 23. I am so excited and nervous. I have 3 year old twin boys and a 9month baby girl. Nervous about recovery with the kids being around but I have a lot of outside help. I cannot wait to start this new chapter in my life. I have struggled with weight my entire life so I am looking forward to this change. So glad I found this forum so I can talk to others who understand and are going through the same thing!
