My mom is making me want to scream

    That's awful!!
  3. I love your posting style contrary to the zing you received earlier tonight in another thread. I think you are honest and funny without being hurtful. Keep it up. Oh, and I double 171 qualifies you for town fatty.
  4. Wow - people can be sooooo rude!!! Sorry 'bout that. Will be fixed soon enough.

    Alcohol ..

I love a good cosmo provided the bartender knows how to make it right. I'm months away from having one though since I'm just 1 week post op. Oh, Weed and water (Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea Vodka) might be a good one too. Happy early 21st!

    Yay. I feel my

    What does it feel like?
  9. I lost 8 pounds from my weight the morning of the surgery. I lost 18 pounds using my weight the day I checked out of the hospital. I gained a whopping 10 pounds in the hospital from the IV fluids I guess!
  10. Just goes to show how each Dr. is different. Mine just cleared me for full liquids (purees) today. I'm 1 week post op. I can totally relate to your misery as the clear liquid phases (pre and post op) were really, really hard for me and I was actually allowed to do protein shakes. Hang in there....

    **May 31st**

I'm enjoying 4 oz of some Cambell's slow kettle Kickin' Crab and Sweet Corn Chowder - pureed. It is sooooooo delicious. At Dr's appt, I was told I can eat pretty much anything I can puree to a liquid with the exception of beef, breads, Pasta and rice. I got a bunch of yummy Soups and my tummy is sooooo happy. Farewell Clear liquids - hope I never see you again. :-) Dr's appointment went really well. He is happy with how my incisions are healing and said I'm clear to take baths and swim. I'm not much of a bath girl but will probably hit the pool next week. I also met with the nutritionist who gave me some menu plans and helped me understand portion size - basically 6-8 oz per meal for now. I'm going to start slow so I don't have an "accident". I go back to see the doc again on July 12th. I can't tell everyone how much happier I am now that I can have some real food even if it has the consistency of baby food. Happy, happy, joy, joy!!!! Hope everyone else is having a great day.

    Has anyone ever felt.....

I remember thinking that after 3 days on my pre-op diet that any other diet seemed waaaayyyyy more doable than I had ever thought before. I so badly wanted a small salad with some grilled chicken. I knew that I didn't have it, though, as I had tried and failed so many diets in the past.
  15. Hi All - I started having a fever that bounces right around 1 degree over normal the day after surgery and haven't been able to shake it. The hospital released me with the low grade fever and I've talked to my Dr's office and they are only concerned if it reaches 101 or higher. It isn't really bothering me and I'm not having any other symptoms like I'm ill. Just wondering if this happened to anyone else?
  16. Stuff I've read about artificial sweetener scares the crap out of me. Have had to have some during the all liquid phase but never again once I'm through. If I can't do real sugar, I won't do sugar at all. Won't do the fake, chemical stuff. Yuck!
  17. For me it has been as follows: 1. Protein, Water, popsicle 2. Walk, walk, walk 3. Water 4. This website and water 5. Nap Repeat, repeat, repeat.... I'm in this continuous loop and try to stay positive. I'm quite certain this has been the toughest thing I've ever done but I'm hopeful it's going to get better. Good luck to you - you are stronger than you know! On a side note, so excited that I get to move to full liquids tomorrow. I'm dreaming of plan Greek yogurt, blended Soups, thin oatmeal and applesauce. You will be there soon.

    females.

I had an endometrial ablasion last year and am so glad my GYN suggested it. I had super heavy periods - just miserable for 2-3 days. Now, they are nothing but a thing and some people don't even have then after the procedure. I didn't think it hurt at all and I was back to my normal activity within a day. If you are done with child bearing and suffer from heavy periods, it's the way to go!

    nearly spilled the beans....

I posted my story earlier this week. Here's the link: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/82086-my-surgery-experience/ If the link doesn't work, I'll copy and paste. When I first woke, I remember being in a lot of pain but they took care of it almost immediately. The day of surgery was actually easier for me than the next day. On day 2 I had a breakdown because it hurt so much to drink anything (stomach seizing) which I learned is normal and has since pretty much gone away. I was worried that something was wrong and it was going to be like that from now on. My advice (and this is based on my experience) is to really mentally prepare for the pre-op diet and the first 5ish days post op as this time period was very difficult for me. I just don't like the liquid diet as I don't believe in or like artificial sweeteners and really haven't found a Protein drink I like (I've tried over a dozen) so ingesting anything is a real struggle for me. I've read that some others breeze through this phase, so it may just be me. I should get to move to full liquids on Friday and I can't wait!!! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Best wishes to you!!

    **May 31st**

I'm doing much better each day. Just really weak from lack of calories so I'm super ready for the next food phase. I'm only getting about 8 oz of Protein in and 16 oz of Water and 2-3 Popsicles. I'm just so over the limited selection that any more makes me gag. How does this compare to everyone else? I see my Dr on Friday and hope to head straight to the store after to stock up on Greek yogurt, watery oatmeal, non-meat Soups, etc!!! 1 more question-how is everyone else doing with #2? I'm having liquid poo about 8 times a day in small quantities. Happens especially after protein. Is this happening to anyone else? Can't wait until we are at the point to be sharing yummy recipes.
