Maybe my last question
So, surgery is set for Tuesday. Getting cold feet...just a little. Not planning on chickening out or anything, but I have to ask this. So I've been on a liquid diet for 10 days or so. Down 16lbs. Hasn't been that difficult. I lost 110lbs. 5 years ago by dieting. (Then I gained back 124lbs.) I KNOW how to lose weight. Unfortunately, I can't keep it off. Gaining it back is far easier. Do I try once more to lose it on my own? I know I can do it. But, how will I keep it off? Probably a dumb question. I'm sure cold feet is common

Getting sleeved on Tuesday...scared
I fear losing food. Will I ever be hungry again? Will eating become like a chore? Will I ever enjoy food again? I want to do this for myself & my family...just very scared. People that have done this? Is this normal?

Alternatives to a protein bar
I'm on the liquid diet. Surgery is Tuesday. My Dr. allows me a Protein Bar each day. (200 calories or less & 5 grams of Protein or more) Can I eat something else instead? Like 3 Oz. grilled chicken & a cup of peas? That would be under 200 calories, more than 5G protein, & a helluva lot more satisfying.

Liquid diet help! Eggs?
I've been on the liquid diet for about 10 days. No cheating. I'm down about 14lbs. I'm going stir crazy. I have had broth, cream soup, protein shakes, Malt-o-Meal, yogurt and everything in between that's not a solid. What about scrambled eggs? I can't see where a couple would hurt me. My surgery is Tuesday.

Curious as to how much weight I'll lose
I am 38 years old. 6' 331lbs. BMI of 44. Well, I was 331 pounds 10 days ago. I am down to 320 pounds this morning. My surgery is coming up on Tuesday. I am wondering how much weight I will eventually lose. My surgeon did not necessarily give me a goal weight. I am very very active. I have 5 kids, lift weights, run, coach baseball and basketball, and even did a full Ironman triathlon four years ago. My problem is: I eat too much. I am having the surgery in hopes that it will help me with the food aspect. I am not a "grazer", & I don't eat a bunch of junk or sweets. My problem is 20 Oz. steaks and too much wine. I know my new stomach won't allow that. As active as I am, I hope to try and get down to 199 pounds. A "normal" weight according to the BMI tables would be 186 pounds. What do you think?

Questions on liquid diet
Tonight I ate a brothy Soup that had some mushrooms & tomatoes in it----at a restaurant. I had them use a blender to make it all broth. Is that ok, or are light vegetables blended up a no-no? I'm 7 days out from surgery.

Post-Sleevers, please help
I'm happy to find someone on here my same size & age. And athlete to boot. BTW---Ribeye, mashed potatoes, & creamed spinach was my "funeral meal". Good luck & thanks for the words.

Please help
My surgery is scheduled in nine days. I am starting to get scared. Not really second thoughts, but maybe they are a little. I'm 38 years old. 6' tall & 331 lbs. BMI is 44. Reasons for sleeving.... 1. I have 5 young children, & want to be a role model for them. 2. I want to be able to be active with my children. 3. I want to look good & be desirable to my wife. 4. I, ME, THIS guy, wants to look good & feel good about myself. 5. I want to get rid of my Sleep Apnea. 6. My family has a history of diabetes & heart problems that I'd rather not get. 7. I don't want to die early. 8. I'm sick of getting winded walking up stairs. 9. I'm sick of being fat. Reasons for being a little unsure.... 1. Scared about missing food. I am not a grazer. I just eat too big portions. I love eating a huge steak & a few glasses of wine. 2. Scared about not being able to go out with my buddies & drink 7 or 8 beers & have a good time. 3. Could I lose the weight again on my own? Better question: Could I keep it off this time? (I've lost 100lbs. twice before, only to regain.) Exercise isn't an issue with me either---after my last big weight loss I did 6 marathons & a full Ironman (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, & 26.2 mile run)---finished it in 15 hours. :-) 4. It's irreversible. 5. A little worried about dying in the surgery, although that's probably just nerves talking. Ok, so I realize that my 1st 2 reasons for being unsure are pretty sick in my opinion, & underscore my real problem...I'm addicted to food & self-control. I feel like I could lose weight on my own, but never keep it off. I guess my reasons for doing this (myself & my family) FAR outweigh the fears, but I just wanted to put out there what I'm thinking. Maybe other people have felt very similar to how I feel. If you did, please tell me your story.

Had my endoscopy today
I was scared. I H-A-T-E Things like this. I was scared, anxious, & nervous. I'm always extremely claustrophobic, & was worried about gagging when they went down my throat. The Dr. started talking to me, and...I woke up about an hour later. Easiest thing I've ever done.

Question about liquid diet
I posted this question in "post-op" mistakenly... I start my liquid diet next Tuesday. Surgery 2 weeks later (2/26). Wondering if there are any diet changes I should be making over the next four or five days? I've been kind of scrambling the last few days to eat at some of my favorite restaurants that I won't be eating at for awhile. Been eating pretty bad. Honestly, I'm getting kind of sick of eating out, and am just wondering if there are things that will make transitioning to the liquid diet easier?

To tell, or not to tell?
I am scheduled for surgery on February 26. I am trying to decide if I should tell people, or keep this a dark secret? Both before the surgery, and after surgery? So far, I've only told about three people that are very close to me. I don't know why I am hesitating just telling everyone I meet, but not sure if I want to. I can't tell you why I wouldn't want to. Maybe I am a little embarrassed. A lot of the people that I know now met me about five years ago after I had just lost about 100 pounds. I'd like to hear opinions from those that have done the surgery… Both that have told people, and that have kept it a secret. Thanks.

How likely is it to gain weight after?
Wait… Since I started this thread, aren't I the moderator? Am I being called an ass? Really! I just asked the question, because it's been on my mind. I think anger may be being misdirected.

Hot tub advice?
I'm scheduled for surgery 2/26. I love my hot tub....my new one gets delivered any day now. I soak for an hour or so about 3 times/week. I keep it really hot, and each time I get in, I sweat off about 2 pounds. My question: since my new stomach will be so small, will I be able to replace all the lost Water? Or, will this be dangerous for me because of dehydration?

How likely is it to gain weight after?
I'm having surgery 2/26. I am very excited to finally lose the weight. Still a little scared, though. How likely is it to gain all the weight back after the sleeve? I know the stomach can stretch, but can it stretch that much? I'm definitely not a grazer, a sweet freak, or a calorie drinker. I eat meat....and lots of it. I eat too much at 1 sitting. Any advice is appreciated. This site is awesome, & has answered a lot of my questions/fears.

Wife isn't supportive
I am scheduled for surgery on February 26. I want support from my spouse. Every time I ask her her opinion, on if I'm doing the right thing, she always says "whatever you want to do " I probe, and the only thing I get out of her is how much more work it's going to be on her, 'cuz she plans the meals. Instead of telling me "you'll live longer", "you won't get diabetes", "you'll be a better role model for the kids", or even "I want you to do it because you'll be happier", I get nothing, & it ends in an argument. I blame myself for being fat, but she has played somewhat of a role in it as well, as she is the meal planner, she is the cook, and she consistently will not plan meals. We have made "deals" numerous times, where she has promised that she would plan meals out a week in advance. I can't count how many times the last two years that I've gotten home from work at 5:00 or 5:30 PM, And there has been no food planned. Those nights we usually end up eating out, ordering pizza, or ordering Chinese. She is thin, and will never have a weight problem. In most ways I feel like she resents me for having the problem that I do, and the reason that she is not supportive is because she thinks it's going to create more work for her. My thoughts… She is being selfish. I am very frustrated with her, and this is taking a toll on our relationship. Again, I want and need her to be supportive, but I just don't think that is going to happen. Any advice would be appreciated, particularly from those who might have had a similar situation.

How much weight will i lose?
I'm a man age 38. I weigh 328 pounds, and am 6 feet tall. My BMI is 43.9. The weight tables say my normal weight is 146-185. (I'm very big-boned, so that seems low). I am very active. In fact, I ran 6 marathons in the past five years (during one of my weight loss periods). My question is for those sleevers that have been through this… How long will it take me to lose 50 pounds? 75 pounds? 100 pounds? What is an ultimate realistic weight for me? Thanks for the help. This site is awesome, and has helped me with a lot of my fears

Is food still enjoyable?
I'm scheduled for surgery February 26. I am wondering if food will ever be enjoyable again? After 6 months to a year, will going out to dinner be fun again? Or, will not being able to eat much make it not fun at all? Maybe I'm putting too much of an importance on food. I probably am, but I'm a little scared, and have no idea what kind of foods I'll be eating a year from now.

Surgery set...scared.
Not really scared of the surgery, but about not being able to eat much or drink alcohol after. I keep thinking "how am I going to act in social situations?" Will I be a different person? Am I going to be the "odd duck", while all my friends are having a good time? One of my favorite things is to go out for a prime steak & a few glasses of wine. Will I be able to do that? Lots of questions....a little uneasy, & scared. I hope I'm making the right decision. Surgery is set for a month away. On a brighter note, I booked a quick little vacation to Mexico for next week. I thought a little rest & one last fiesta would help me tackle these thoughts & fears I'm having.

Is this surgery right for me?
I'm 38. I've yo-yo'd my whole life. I'm currently 328 lbs. my last big weight loss was 5 years ago. I went from 317 lbs. down to 205 lbs. I even did 6 marathons & a FULL IRONMAN Triathlon. I know how to lose weight, but I keep gaining it back. My biggest problem is overeating. I don't snack much. I LOVE to eat out at restaurants. I don't eat tons of sweets...I eat lots of meat. I want to lose weight to reduce chances of premature death and diabetes. My surgery is scheduled---in 6 weeks. I'm planning on doing it, but am a little scared. Help? Ideas?
