  1. Kind of fell off the wagon the last month. Worried that I'm returning to my old habits. Been on vacation, and not eating real healthy. I skip Breakfast. I eat a healthy lunch. My dinner isn't the healthiest (but I'm restricted from eating too much) Worst thing...have had 4-5 alcoholic drinks about every other day for the past 3 weeks. The drinking will go down to about 1 day/week starting next week when I'm home, but worried. The positive thing: when I used to drink, I'd eat a TON of junk food. Now, I'm too full, and the sleeve stops me from eating much. Maybe it isn't so bad, but it feels like it. I'm getting good exercise while I'm gone. (Ran 3miles yesterday, and am walking a lot & playing ball with my kids) Waiting to weigh until I get home. I don't think I've gained any, but haven't lost any either. Started this at 331 February 15. Sleeved 2/26. 3 weeks ago I weighed 250. Need to get this plan back on track
  2. Sleeved 2/26. Down 65lbs as of today. Started at 331. Now 265.8. This has not been difficult. I can chug water (can drink a gallon a day if I want), & can eat anything. The good thing....I'm no longer hungry all the time. I usually skip breakfast, eat a larger lunch, a normal dinner, & then a bedtime snack. I'm usually eating around 1,400 calories a day. I could easily eat more, but don't have the desire. 67 more lbs. to go!
  3. I got sleeved 4 days ago. I'm getting in my 64Oz. of water daily, and peeing every 3 hours or so. I am having problems urinating. My "stream" is not very strong, and when I push hard, it feels as if something inside my "weiner" moves. I know it's a result of the catheter, but wanting to make sure it is normal & will go away. When?
  4. I was sleeved 2/26. I was very worried about going through with it, and I thought about canceling the surgery several times. I was afraid of never being able to eat anything again, I was afraid of the actual surgery, of post surgery problems, I was, well, just afraid. I am now almost 6 weeks out. I started the liquid diet on February 15, 11 days before my surgery. On February 15, I was 331 pounds. Today I am 278 pounds, and totally see myself getting down to my goal weight of 199 pounds. I feel very lucky, in comparison with some of the stories I've read on this page. I see many people talking about how they have problems drinking liquids, and eating a lot of foods. I can now eat basically anything. I just went over the 50 pound more yesterday, and I celebrated with a burger at Fuddruckers last night. I was able to eat the small burger there with everything except for the top half of the bun I even ate a few sweet potato fries. I can gulp liquids, and it's actually too easy for me to get my 1300 – 1500 calories in each day----things that were told to me to be very difficult. I am already getting many compliments on my weight loss. I already feel good about myself. It's been fun to buy new clothing (I am not getting too crazy though, as the weight is going to continue to come off very rapidly.) I'm REALLY glad I did it!
  5. I stopped drinking coffee before my surgery. I've got a bad cold & have been taking NyQuil at night & DayQuil in the daytime. I screwed up this morning & woke up & took NyQuil. I had to drive, so I had a couple of cups of regular coffee. I hope it's not going to hurt me. I was thinking that the reason they don't want us drinking coffee was because it depleted your iron levels. I'm thinking that a couple of cups won't hurt me today. Any thoughts?
  6. I'm in Vegas on vacation. Ran 2.5 miles today. First time for that in over 2 years! Down about 45lbs in about 5 weeks. Doc even gave me permission to have some wine/Bloody Mary's while I'm here. Let the games begin!
  7. I am 38 years old. 6' 331lbs. BMI of 44. Well, I was 331 pounds 10 days ago. I am down to 320 pounds this morning. My surgery is coming up on Tuesday. I am wondering how much weight I will eventually lose. My surgeon did not necessarily give me a goal weight. I am very very active. I have 5 kids, lift weights, run, coach baseball and basketball, and even did a full Ironman triathlon four years ago. My problem is: I eat too much. I am having the surgery in hopes that it will help me with the food aspect. I am not a "grazer", & I don't eat a bunch of junk or sweets. My problem is 20 Oz. steaks and too much wine. I know my new stomach won't allow that. As active as I am, I hope to try and get down to 199 pounds. A "normal" weight according to the BMI tables would be 186 pounds. What do you think?
  8. Feeling like I'm eating too much compared to everyone on here. Sleeved 2/26. My Dr. wanted me to work up to eating 1,200-1,400 calories. I'm only 3 weeks in, & can easily do this. I could probably eat more if I wanted to. That "full" feeling they told me that I'd start getting...I'm not really feeling it. My Dr. also told me that I'm fine drinking wine (not all the time, but a glass or 2 occasionally.) The wine hasn't bothered me either. My weight loss is going really good. I started pre-op diet February 16. I'm down about 44lbs. in only 30days. I'm still on pureed foods. Tonight for dinner I ate 4Oz chicken breast, 1/4C. beans w/a little ground beef, 2T Sour Cream, 2T guacamole, 3T salsa, 2T shredded low-fat cheese, and 2 glasses of wine (30minutes before dinner). That seems like a ton of food compared with all the people that say they can barely eat 1/2 Cup of food. I've never had trouble losing weight, my problem has been keeping it off. I guess I'm not doing anything the Dr. didn't say was ok, but I'm concerned about eating too much food & causing a leak. Should I be worried about a leak at 3 weeks?
  9. I started out at 500-700 calories for a week or so post-op. It's getting easier to get the calories in. Doc wanted me to work up to around 1,400 calories. I'm almost there. The incision is a pain in the a_s. Doc says that it will heal eventually, but it sucks, & I've ruined about 3 shirts.
  10. Started pre-op liquid diet 2/16. Sleeved 2/26. Down 40lbs so far. Easily getting my fluids in. Easily getting my protein in. Getting in 1,100-1,400 calories. I love the "full" feeling. Still on the puréed crap. Can't wait until real food starts. The only problem is 1 leaking incision. Bleeding all the time, All in all, I'm happy.
  11. Do I need to purée EVERYTHING? Cottage cheese? Scrambled eggs? Mashed Potatoes? Shaved Ham? I'd love some recipes of some decent food.
  12. I am scheduled for surgery on February 26. I am trying to decide if I should tell people, or keep this a dark secret? Both before the surgery, and after surgery? So far, I've only told about three people that are very close to me. I don't know why I am hesitating just telling everyone I meet, but not sure if I want to. I can't tell you why I wouldn't want to. Maybe I am a little embarrassed. A lot of the people that I know now met me about five years ago after I had just lost about 100 pounds. I'd like to hear opinions from those that have done the surgery… Both that have told people, and that have kept it a secret. Thanks.
  13. I got sleeved 2/26. Doing really well. Feel great. Started liquid diet 2/15. I'm down 35lbs! Problem: All of my incisions have healed except 1. It's the main one by my belly button. I thought it had healed, but I woke up last night to blood & Fluid ALL OVER my sheets. I put cotton balls on it, taped it up, & went back to bed. This morning there is a blood spot about the size of a half-dollar on the cotton balls. Can't visibly see any more oozing out. I washed it off & put "Tuff Skin" on it. Any advice on how to care for it? I've got a spring break trip that my kids have been looking forward to for almost 9 months......I leave in 1 week for a 5 day stay in an indoor watermark. Hot tub, pool, etc. I want to do whatever I can so I can make this heal up & not disappoint my kids. If its not healed, waterproof bandages & wear a shirt? Advice?
  14. Really hope I didn't mess this up. Sleeved last Tuesday. Doing awesome. Down 33lbs. since I started liquids on 2/15. Saw Dr. today. His plan originally said full liquids for another week, but he said I was doing really well, & I could "graduate" to tomato soup, etc. He even gave me the go ahead to have a couple of glasses of wine when I go to Vegas in a couple of weeks! I was shocked by that. So some friends wanted to take me to lunch today at a Thai restaurant. We went. I ordered a spicy broth. (No food pieces, just some spice....the place assigns all food 1-Star to 6-Stars (6 is the spiciest). I got my beef broth a 2 1/2. I are about 3/4C. felt fine then. 2 hours later....toilet time. Diarrhea. Stomach hurts. I really thought that a little bit of spice was fine. Could this spice give me a leak? Worried about it.
  15. A little gas pain here & there. I'm going to buy some Gas X strips tomorrow & see if that helps
  16. I hear lots of people complaining on how little liquids they can handle. I almost feel guilty...sleeved a week ago today, & I can gulp Protein shakes, Water, broth, whatever. I had 70+Oz. of liquids today, & could've easily handled a lot more. Feeling pretty good. I think I'm going to be able to handle food pretty well.
  17. I'm 6 days out. Wife is dying to have sex. I feel like I can do it...creatively. Advice?
  18. I got sleeved last Tuesday...did a a 10 day liquid diet prior to surgery. I'm already down 29lbs.! I hate the way I feel I hate not being able to eat real food But, I love the scale. Someone saw me today that hasn't seen me in a week. He said "So you've lost what, 25-30lbs.?" Can't wait for the reactions when I'm down 100.
  19. I got sleeved on Tuesday. I've been doing really well, eating broth & Jello. Haven't been hungry at all. I was getting low on food & went to the grocery store today. MISTAKE! I left there hungry after smelling all the good food. Home again, & not hungry now, but I'll be having the wife do the shopping from now on.
  20. No pain, no blood or foul odor, & never had any prostate issues.
  21. I'm home, & doing ok. Severe gas, & a little pain. My body is not telling me that I'm hungry, but my brain is telling me that I'll miss gorging on food. Then the words "permanent & irreversible" keep popping into my head. Then it has me asking myself " Did I make a mistake" Anyone else have these thoughts before? Am I just demented? I guess I now know why I am fat.
  22. Thanks for all the words. They do help. Question: People refer to "The Nut". What is the Nut?
  23. I got sleeved Tuesday. Got out of the hospital today. Dr. gave me the option of staying 1 more day, but I decided to come home. I feel like crap. Stomach hurts and I'm full of gas. I'm starting; Did I do the right thing? Am I ever going to go out for a cheeseburger & fries again? I miss food... I think I just need some encouraging words & that its going to get better
  24. I'm on the liquid diet. Surgery is Tuesday. My Dr. allows me a Protein Bar each day. (200 calories or less & 5 grams of Protein or more) Can I eat something else instead? Like 3 Oz. grilled chicken & a cup of peas? That would be under 200 calories, more than 5G protein, & a helluva lot more satisfying.
